Fun clip here. Haku had never seen the infamous Shockmaster clip. The Vice guys showed it to him during an interview for Dark Side of the Ring. His reaction is priceless.

Fun clip here. Haku had never seen the infamous Shockmaster clip. The Vice guys showed it to him during an interview for Dark Side of the Ring. His reaction is priceless. Watched this episode of Dark Side of the Ring last night on Earthquake and touching on Tugboat/Natural Disasters hence the Shockmaster bit. A friggin Stormtrooper helmet done in glitter. The Haku part was my favorite.

Noticed two interesting matches on Josh Barnett's Bloodsport.
Singles Match Josh Barnett vs. Johnny Bloodsport (John Manynames)
Singles Match Nic Nemeth vs. Mike Bailey

Neat seeing John Jr on the Darkside thing. He posts to reddit here and there showing off stuff of his pops. Do not think he realized how beloved his dad was still before he posted.

Sounds like John Tenta was highly respected all around except maybe that one Japanese guy who cried and took his ball and went home.

Even that guy ended up working with Tenta later on and having a smooth match.

Dark Side of the Ring Season 5 Episode 2 was about The Bagwells. It was 'ok' but I highly enjoyed Episode 3 about Terry Gordy. Man was he talented. One of my dads faves right up there with Stan Hansen. Very sad how his plane OD changed him. Lots of great footage and insight. Always great to hear from Kevin Von Erich.

Most recent Dark Side of the Ring was on Brutus Beefcake. I had no idea about his injury. I knew he and Hogan fell out but I think Hogan might be better off. Brutus seems like an anchor. Both Missy's were beautiful, unfortunately their face work has changed their appearances drastically and not for the better.

Episode 5 of DSotR Season 5 was on Harley Race. They probably could have done a weeks worth of the stories floating around Harley but they told some of the more outlandish and tragic ones. I liked the story of Vince trying to chop block him and getting put in a sleeper hold instead or him setting the ring on fire when Hogan and Vince tried to run shows in Kansas City.

Glad they did the machine gun story. Heard that elsewhere. Just fucking crazy.
Funny how everyone shares the same stories about Harley because he repeated them so often.
Happy he got an episode, as the King truly was something else. Hope Funker gets an episode. I know they got footage of him before he passed for the FMW episode and did a podcast episode about him recently.

You watch some of these older guys like Harley Race and Terry Gordy and it's just amazing to me how GOOD they were.
A Terry Funk episode would be grand or one on the Funks.

The main difference is the old guys were old enough to have wrestled the carnival circuit where the matches were mostly real. Like the catch circuit in the UK, the guys who had to fight for real first, knew how to make things look real since they just did real things with less force. Pity there is almost no footage of carny era stuff where people would fight the crowd. Those fights were said to be super, super dirty. Can find the matches with plants around, but never with the crowd.

For those unaware, a wrestling promotion in Uganda has gained a lot of traction online in recent months. They wrestle outside in a dirt ring and are incredibly passionate fans, and it has captured a lot of people’s attention, so much so that some independent wrestlers have donated money so they can purchase a real wrestling ring.
Yesterday or today, I’m not sure when, Maximum Male Models traveled to Africa and joined in the fun:
This is what it’s all about.

Savages at least use a trampoline like Kilgore did during his backyard days. Did NXT Africa have a spot? UK, China and Antarctica were a thing.

Did a tour of several countries doing seminars. African wrestling is booming it appears. The funny about this is, is that people are freaking out about how hard the ground must be, but old pro-wrestling rings like many feds are using have just as little give. Buddy said the ground on outdoors shows was better than taking the bumps on the wood in the first ring he worked in. Shit had no bounce at all left whatsoever. That old ring was designed to support guys like Andre though, not modern wrestlers.

Also someone so stealing this I bet for TV. Cannot remember if that is one of Strong's 1001 backbreakers but I do not recall ever seen it straight from a rock bottom.

Never actually seen Sheamus hit that. Fucking awesome move. Get why a big guy like him does not do it often, that has to be killer on the knees doing it to bigger guys.

Imagine the insane run he would have had if he left WWE 10 years ago. Would not have have the money he is has now if he did though. Places he is working are not really known for big payouts. He would have likely been a pillar of AEW though if he was doing indy shit at the founding though. Curious to see what his run is like as by all accounts Tony finally may be scaling down hiring, and Zigler is not someone Tony is going to get on his show for a hotdog and handshake. So he is limited to Japan and Mexico for money really.
