China just cancelled their offer to buy 500 million in Russian gas.

Russian State TV saying it is time for Americans to reappoint their ally President Trump back to the presidency. Trump replied within the hour saying they will need to release information on Hunter and Joe Biden if they wish to get him out of office.  No collusion though.

Fox and the NY Post are reporting that the Ukraine has started to launch missiles at Russia. Which is interesting as the only other group that reported on this before they did was Russian state media site RT.

But GOP now listening to Fox may likely want to pull support from the Ukraine now they are killing innocents.

Russia responded to Trump's request for dirt on Hunter Biden by releasing a bunch of documents supposedly linking him to the US backed Biological Weapons labs in the Ukraine that created COVID.

No collusion though. Can't wait for the US to spend two years investigating whether or not Hunter Biden was the cause of the Ukraine conflict and created COVID.

After Russia started misinformation that Ukraine was attacking their country, Ukraine went in and attacked their country.

Now that Russia is in retreat Ukraine is finding mass graves and signs of civilians being slaughtered. Just a little genocide though, no reason to risk starting world war III.

I feel sick. All war sickens me. And Putin knows he has us by the short and curlies. We have essentially left Ukraine on their own. Like Afghanistan, we told them they can count on us. They can't. People are dying in the streets, but IF we intervene we are essentially starting WWIII with a nuclear power. Not only that China is watching, because don't think for a second the minute they think they can't re-take Taiwan they won't. And who pays always? The people lying dead in the street.

And who wins? Corporations.

The world is watching and learned that the people away from the battlefronts really do not care what happens in them. Slaughter civilians, send them off to camps, hunt down people on kill lists, all fine so long as people's way of life elsewhere is not upset. Yet somehow people will assume if this happens to them, that the world will ride in like calvary and not just repeat this attitude of indifference.

Russian state media released a manifesto saying that the nazification of the Ukraine is too deep for reeducation and the Ukrainian people must be killed to prevent a resurrange. Furthermore this should extend to their nazi backers in Europe. These areas then should become Russian states so this nazi rise cannot happen again.

Now one now wants World War III so if the European people have to die, that is a cost we may have to bear to avoid war.

If they take Ukraine they won't stop there. That's why we should care. That's why Poland, Latvia, etc are backing them, but again we are being kept at bay by a madman with his finger on the red button.  He probably won't use it, BUT can we take that chance.  That's where we are at.

Anyone who thinks the West is going to come in on their white horse and save them is no student of history.
The USA has sat on their hands so much they smell 24/7 of ass.
Let's not forget that the USA had exactly ZERO interest in engaging with actual Nazis.
The UK on the other hand despite their propensity for raping and murdering indigenous populations, has always stood up against tyranny.. When it was directed against white people.


The whole situation is awful, but it is clear that the Ukraine had it's head in the sand when it came to Russian intentions for a number of years.
They could have made a play to join NATO back when Russia was reeling from the disintegration of the USSR but they didn't.
I am not saying this means that this is Ukraine's fault, just that they read the tea leaves very wrong.

Australia where I live is on the doorstep of a whole heap of countries that you could most generously describe as frienemies.
We have done an appalling job of national defense, partly because the communists have way too much influence over one side of politics and mostly because we prefer to have our heads in the sand and buy elections.
All that being said, we have done a good job of maintaining alliances with the USA and the UK and I half expect that both of them would come to our aid if required.
If you want the help of others you have to give... This is where the Ukraine has probably fallen over in the past.

If you think US will come riding in to the aid of Australia after this shit in the Ukraine, gonna be a bad time. Same logic here will apply there. It would be better to abaddon an ally than to risk a war with China. US plans to leave NATO in 2024 anyway.

It is a different scenario, as they say "Never bet against self interest"
Russia invading Ukraine has a near zero impact on the power dynamic of the world.

If China was to take Australia or New Zealand it would be a signal that they were looking to create an empire and I don't think it would go down so well.
Not sure if you are following the news, but China is currently taking over the Solomon Islands with no more than their cheque book.

Yup, China is going to claim the disputed waters the same way, no one wants a world war so let them secure the waters to lock in their defenses.

And what the US does in the future really depends on what happens in 2024. New GOP is dead set on leaving NATO. If it is not Trump doing it, it will DeSantis doing it. Once we are out of NATO will be hard to get justification for us to enter most future conflicts.  Senate blocked needing congressional approval to leave, so all up to the president.

This is the shit my ex saw in Kosovo and Bosnia with the UN.  Children nailed to their beds & set on fire.  Women raped and tortured.  Opening mass graves and re-burying the bodies.  No wonder he never came back the same. 

I don't understand why our Peacekeepers would go into Kosovo and Bosnia but not Ukraine?  I assume it has to do with the fact that Ukraine is not part of the UN and with those countries it was civil war and this would be World War if we intercede?  I don't know.  I just don't know how much longer we can sit back and watch this.  

Zelensky is asking Russia to be removed from the Security Council and so they should. 

 

Nobody in NATO thought this would take this long. Everyone assumed Russia was going to bang this out in two weeks tops. Then they can just blame Russia for being bad and life would go on. Ukraine fought back and now NATO doesn’t know how to react because they never intended to because they never thought it would get here.

Yup, NATO made it clear Russia can take the Ukraine. It is a cost they are willing to endure to not get involved personally.

Zelensky demands that the UN removes Russia from the security counsels or else they show clearly they cannot do what they were created to do and should dissolve themselves so a better solution can be found.

US pretty much confirmed that Aleksandr Dvornikov took over the Russian army in the Ukraine. He was their top general in Syria and known for scratched Earth tactics. Consistent with the change in tactics we are seeing with the Russian retreat and increase of attacks on civilian structures in the Eastern Ukraine. Total evacuation is being called for after Russia bombed the train station as it is expected more and more he will go after bomb shelters where people are gathering in high numbers.

Cluster munitions are being heavily used in this new stage of the war both in bombs and mines.

Russia just used chemical weapons in Mariupol, after threatening to use them this morning.  While NATO previously said this was the red line that would demand a military response, no one wants a nuclear world war...

We are not going to do anything but increase sanctions. I seriously doubt when they start nuking in the near future we will do anything if they stick to low yield nuclear weapons.
