And it sunk... That's a bit of a game changer. I'm really in two minds at the moment, I don't see that we can avoid Russia eventually taking Ukraine without direct military intervention. As a result the more weapons we give Ukraine the more the conflict is escalated and the more the cities are destroyed and the people killed.

Chatter is once the US weapons shipments hit the Ukraine, the war could go nuclear before Russia calls for peace. Now no one wants a nuclear war, so I assume if they just keep nuking the Ukraine it will be all ok.

Um...  wtf.  US when we hand over the weapons to the Ukraine, will spend a few days or so training their soldiers to use them as well, particularly the howitzers we are sending.  This is like a hair away from entering the war.  While this is likely feeling out China, Russia is hinting that they will bring out the nukes claiming there will be "unpredictable consequences."  Either that or arming terrorists for a US strike.

It will have 12 8 megaton nuclear warheads attached and has a range of 11000 miles, enough to hit Britain or Canada. The blast area is said to be the size of Texas. If it hits the UK, it will hit all of the England and Wales.  

But surely Putin would never launch this missile.  He is just rolling it out for show.  

Oh yeah, it is suborbital as well, so the warheads will have only a short window to be shot down, and likely only be complete countered with a laser defense system.  

With a glade addition can shoot it over the south pole and bypass NORAD as well.

The war appears to be changing. Explosions in several areas of Russia today, including Moscow. No confirmation yet that it was the Ukraine, but most of the explosions were on the Russian border.

Russian state media did a show simulating what would happen if they nuked major european cities with a Sarmat missile in detail last night. They seem to be setting the stage with their people at least for using a nuclear weapon.

Intel is at 50-50 if Putin uses May Day / Victory Day to declare victory or go jyhad on Europe and launch nukes.

Tomorrow will be very interesting when the fires of Walpurgis Night dies down.  Putin wants to take Mariupol down but cannot get the last stronghold to fall.

Belief is either way, a major turn will happen on May 9th, when Russia celebrates it proper.  And they cannot keep going on as they are, as they are being out armed so they either need to escalate or move for peace before Ukraine starts to move into Russia proper.  And with the backing they are getting, they can do serious damage to Russia proper now.

What is the stated end goal here?

Are we believing:
a. The this was is winnable against Russia
b. That Putin might die or give up
c. That this is important grand standing.

For me if neither a. or b. are possible, then this is an exercise in seeing 80 billion dollars literally blown up for no benefit whatsoever.
The longer this war goes on, the more people who die.

I am not against supporting Ukraine, I just don't understand the end goals.

We are approving the Ukraine building up defenses to avoid a second push, while allowing them to reclaim their lands taken since the start of this present conflict.

Russia is not backing down, so the Ukraine will have to force them from their lands. Once that is finished, they will likely retake the Crimea, then just fortify up.  

So long as Russia is in their lands, they have no reason to give up the fight.

Gotta clean out all those old weapons that have been sitting around for decades to get the war machine manufacturing again.

I’m hoping he drops dead but I digress.

That money is not going to the people, I can tell you that. We helped pay for medical supplies for soldiers fighting in the Sumy region and the men bringing it from Poland were killed and the supplies taken. That’s why we decided to host. At least this way we know we helped even if it’s only two people.

Well, the right wing media is rooting for Putin, so they want these supplies to stop, so Putin has a chance to get what he wants. They want the Ukraine to surrender, give Russia more of their country, and stop aggression until Russia can recover to take the next chunk out of the Ukraine.

US intel is reporting Putin is dying of late stage cancer and survived an assassination attempt at the start of the war. Should Putin die before the war ends - a very dangerous power vacuum starts.

This entire campaign has been built on sheer desperation, which to me is the biggest reason nukes should be a concern.

As to the functionality of their warheads, I honestly could see that going either way. He's either playing a game of poker or go fish with the US/NATO.
