Catching a few liberals on my social media channels hoping someone will help Ukraine that were mere months back criticizing people as members of the industrial war complex for not liking how we left Afghanistan. At least be intellectually consistent people.

I don't know how many of you remember Bahgdad, Bosnia, Kosovo, etc. It all started the same way: bombing and civilian lives lost. Media starts spin doctoring to suit their narrative. UN/NATO sends Peacekeepers into the area. I could be wrong, but I guess we'll see.

I don't know how 'self sufficient' the Russian military is. What I am hearing is completely contrary to what I've heard from my ex, his co-workers and other military friends over the years in which they often fed and gave supplies to the Russian soldiers during deployments-when they were allies of course. In return they got good Russian vodka. One has to wonder what has changed since then. I assume it has much to do with leadership.

I noticed this too. People who were anti-war for the War of Terror now wanting the US to get involved. Personally, I oppose military action. If we cannot afford to implement social policies at home, we cannot afford to engage in war. GOP been screaming the US needs to make cuts to spending, this should be one of those cuts.

I don’t think NATO troops will be sent in anytime soon. More likely is NATO support of resources to help the already strong Ukraine military. Just make it as difficult as horrible as possible for the Russians until they back down. This is a positive scenario obviously, there are more frightening outcomes possible.

Their biggest weapons have always been their tanks, their numbers and their willingness to self-sacrifice. It’s probably to do with the geography of the country. The Russians are effective in wartime but slow, too slow for this to be effective in my view.

Russian forces have captured the infamous Chernobyl power plant, with forces gathering in the old exclusion zone.

Why?

It is located along the fastest route between Russia and Kyiv.

It is understood Russia wants control of the plant in order to send the message to NATO not to intervene.

My reading into the NATO conference echo the thoughts of the news media channel I was watching - NATO honour the right for Ukraine to defend itself, and will send forces to its Eastern allies. Ukraine isn't part of NATO. This was repeated several times, suggesting they'll build a military wall around Ukraine to ensure it doesn't spill over to other countries and wait and see how effective Ukraine fights back, or how evil Russia can get before stepping in.
