If you find Chris Lynch Media on Facebook, or try this fb.watch/bnYtg2h-FQ/ - there's a video of a missile shot from a jet entering a house near Kiev. Warning; the sheer terror in the kid's voice is heart breaking.

Without weighing into whether or not Trump would have been any better at warding this situation off, there is no doubt in my mind that Putin launched this offensive at this time in part for what he sees as a general weakness in the global Political landscape at the moment. The fact it took Biden so long to come out with a televised statement is somewhat worrying. I’d be curious when the last time Putin would’ve considered the global political landscape to be moderately dangerous to him. The intel into why he supported Trump would suggest he was nervous about how a Hillary Clinton presidency would effect him. I just don’t see him as a guy that actually believes the global political landscape has ever had a tolerance to push back against him. I would say he would not have tried this with George Bush Sr for sure and probably not with Clinton, but Biden, Trump and Obama and maybe Bush Jr he would think he could push around. Really, it's a sign that the world has had a lot on its plate that we didn't see this as the natural progression of annexing Crimea, that was the time to place serious weaponry into Ukraine.... But quietly.

As silly as it sounds, I hope one of those missiles lands an inch over the Polish border, so NATO can enact Article 5.

Anti-Protests in Russia suggest no one wants this war, including the Russian people. Hundreds allegedly arrested. And likely never seen again. Russians, like any other citizens, are broadly good people. I would expect protests to go on for some time. Not only is it an ethical issue, the Russians are a poor people set to become poorer as the world freezes Russian money. Pressure from his own people is one of the biggest weapons against Putin. I admire those people in Russia protesting and hope they continue to do it. Considering what could happen to anti-establishment protesters in Russia - or at least what I've read could happen - those protesting are among the bravest people on the planet. Considering what could happen to anti-establishment protesters in Russia - or at least what I've read could happen - those protesting are among the bravest people on the planet. Biggest problem is, due to how difficult it is to protest in Russia we will never fully understand the extent of an anti-war / anti-Putin sentiment. Brave, very much so. Meanwhile, we have Canadians 'protesting' about loss of their 'freedoms/rights'. This puts things into perspective.

Kids in Ukraine are going to school with their blood type written on the tags of their clothes, wondering if they’ll ever see their parents again. Canadian children have to wear a mask sometimes. These are the same thing. *honks horn and calls Trudeau a homophobic slur* … Zelinsky is bunkered down and there are Russian “saboteur groups” in Kyiv looking for him and other targets.

Sounds like tanks are not a problem. The missiles are. The tanks are quickly going down form the javelins they bought for exactly this situation. You know the ones that Trump did not want to sell them unless they gave him dirt on Biden. It seems a lot of the reporting has been incorrect. Initially the tanks weren't advancing on Kiev, seems the plan was only to get advanced outposts where they could hit targets within 90km with their missiles, this was a smart strategy as conventional artillery has no chance of returning fire at that range. If they keep this plan up, advance slowly, then use missiles to eliminated defences then advance, repeat... This is a pretty easy way to take a country. The only thing that could thwart the plan is good air defense. Yeah, missile defense is a major problem for the Ukraine in these early stages. This strategy of getting close enough to send a missile and roll in behind it is working for the Russians. The Ukraine is very flat in a lot of places, even around the cities, which could support a strategy like this for the Russians. I’m hearing that the Ukraine has taken one of the airports back which is surprising/encouraging, although we don’t know what’s true at this point. UK defense minister estimates 450 lost fighters for the Russians so far, mostly fighter pilots and those in urban areas.

I love the GOP narrative today. It is that the Ukraine is only making things worse defending themselves, and they should just surrender to Russia.

Putin telling Finland and Sweden that this should be a warning to them and if they want to enter NATO they will have to pay him off.
Tucker claims he never supported the invasion and Putin was wrong to invade. This is after years of support Putin to the point where they air his segments on the state news stuff.
In more of the Biden method of fighting disinformation by giving the press intel, we find out that he contacted China and pushed for them to stop the aggression but they said it was just America trying to sow discord.

Putin telling Finland and Sweden that this should be a warning to them and if they want to enter NATO they will have to pay him off. It cracks me up that he thinks threatening Finland will deter them from joining NATO. As if in that situation they will sit on their hands and not join the Western union that bounds America to defend them. I don’t want to leap to conclusions and it’s so hard to get any - take a look at the BBC website for one who are afraid to report anything as actual news understandably, but I don’t know if this is going all that well for Putin. They’ve been held up on the outskirts of the cities and have taken heavier losses than he would have liked. This whole thing felt desperate from the start and is becoming increasingly so. Keep it up Ukraine.

For real. The Nordic Council has ties to EU and NATO already. Hell the entire Nordic Council came about due to Soviet aggression. Now we are in the age of new imperialism, they likely will shore up their alliances against the East.
For Putin I believe he planned on surrenders when he go to the cities. He so does not have the tech to take cities easily. So it is likely now the stalling is waiting for a decision to be made if they will take cities and suffer heavy losses doing the door to cleaning it will require, or just hold position.
My body was in Iraq and did the door to door clearing. He said that people would be killed out of nowhere as someone popped around a corner with a rifle, or a sniper popped up in a window. This is what Russia will have to deal with if they need to take cities by force and disarm the people.
It will also be a bloodbath since you need to kill enough people in the city to break the morale of the resistance that is defending their homes, which China may be seeking to prevent.

Ukraine's Zelensky warns EU leaders 'this might be the last time you see me alive' If Russia gets the chance they will kill him. And it would not be undeserved either. Frankly, I think Putin was right in him being a tyrant. I do not agree with the politics of the people Putin is defending, but Zelensky fucked them over hard by banning their party, throwing the leader of Ukraine out and suppressing their vote. US is gearing for war. Old company just got deal to supply parts for a multi-billion dollar defense contract. Sounds like subs and fighters in this. Saved my mom's job sounds like.

For Putin I believe he planned on surrenders when he go to the cities. Yes, I agree with this 100%. Urban warfare is absolute hell anywhere in the world, let alone against a populated military like Ukraine. This is tough for Putin now.

Yeah, the people I know who went into the Iraqi cities were never the same. Afghanistan was a walk in the part for them compared to capturing Baghdad. The ones that were deployed elsewhere or working on drones are ok, but the people who went into the city were changed by it hardcore. Slightest noise sets them on edge to this day.

Just revealed not to long ago Putin is not taking cities as he is wanting to talk to Ukraine to end the war. The sanctions are going to kill his economy.
He still wants their government taken out, but does not seem to want to take the cities yet until these peace talks start.

Sounds like there is a HARD push to get Biden to enforce extreme punitive sanctions and/or straight out declare war on Russia. Mainline GOP is saying if he does not take stronger actions he should resign.

Both were war and war is hell no matter how you spin it. You cannot compare. I think of the people who grew up in these war torn areas. Tragic. The thing that messed my ex and friends up the most is not knowing who the enemy was. It could have been a child or a woman even. There was the same mindset in both places. While many see women and children as off limits, some do not. That is why they are set off so easily because constantly on guard. Cannot trust anyone. My ex lost it after his first tour in Afghanistan in a restaurant when a waiter dropped his tray. Flipped the table and grabbed our daughter for safety. She was 4. The cost is high and it goes on for years afterwards.

It still remains incredible, that there is a 'policy' stopping NATO and the rest of the world from stepping in.
Understandingly, if NATO did advance into Ukraine it would be Russia vs all of Europe and the potential for WW3.
But where is the line in the sand? Does Russia need to begin war crimes or incarcerating Ukrainian citizens / opponents to spark intervention?
What is stopping Ukraine employing private military?
Ok, answered my own question:
Contractors who use armed force in a war zone can be considered unlawful combatants, in reference to a concept outlined in the Geneva Conventions and explicitly specified by the 2006 American Military Commissions Act.

It’s always tough to compare which scenarios are worse when all of them are bad, but NATO putting troops on the ground for a country not in NATO would be infinitely worse than what is being done at the moment. It is not going to happen unless it absolutely has to, and we’re nowhere near that.

A true reflection it is the year 2022...
Hacker collective Anonymous declares 'cyber war' against Russia, disabling state news websites including the state-controlled 'Russia Today' news service.
It's interesting as this channel is available internationally, including here in Australia.
RT's coverage of the situation in Ukraine has been overwhelmingly from a pro-Russian perspective, showing fireworks and cheerful celebrations in the newly occupied territories.
In the UK, MPs said the TV channel is Russian President Vladimir Putin's "personal propaganda tool" and should be banned.
Ironically, it is filmed in the United States.
In January, a US government intelligence brief warned that Russia "would consider" a potentially devastating cyber attack against the US if NATO intervened to defend Ukraine.
The government of Ukraine has asked volunteers from the "hacker underground" to help protect critical infrastructure and spy on Russian troops.

That is how they were able to make the comparison, they served in both areas. People I know who went to Afghanistan though did not see much combat, or did think feel that way after Iraq.
