Toto is so underrated. Rosanna has one of the best drum patterns of all time. Jeff Porcaro was a machine behind the kit. A post so nice I wish I could like it twice

So I took the family to see Barenaked Ladies last night. del Amitri and Semisonic opened for them. We had tickets last year but I had a panic attack following a Royals game and I couldn’t go. Not so this year. They were incredible. Such a fun show! Easily my favorite band of all time, glad I was finally able to see them in person!

Barenaked Ladies has a style that only gets better the older they get.
Been a while since I been excited at all for music but Dresden Dolls are back. Gonna try to get out to see them finally at the Bowery no less. Nick Cave plays NYC on my birthday so may try to get out to see him too since tickets are not expensive at all.

Grocery store I stopped in after work played Billy Joel's We Didn't Start The Fire, Toto's Rosanna, and Styx's Blue Collar Man back to back to back. A grocery store that clearly cares about their customers. 10 out of 10. Will go again.

Amount I've Listened to Jagged Little Pill
My Whole Life Minus the last 72 hrs vs. the past 72 hrs I think it's even. Like I haven't listened to these songs as much as I have in the past few days.

Been playing along at home to RT's song game. Day One I listened to 10-12 color songs. Day Two it was an equal amount of number songs. And today it's been a slightly bigger rotation of summer songs. Now I have a different/weird interpretation of summer songs. If it reminds me of a particular summer, it counts as a summer song even when it's not traditionally summery. Examples... Achy Breaky Heart- Billy Ray Cyrus- Summer of '92 Whoomp! There It Is- Tag Team- Summer of '93 American Pie- Don McLean- Summer of '94 Gangsta's Paradise- Coolio- Summer of '95 Then fast forward to a bunch of early 2000s Nu Metal and finally some "proper" summer songs like Alan Jackson's Summertime Blues, Summer Nights from Grease (hat tip to CM Punk'd ), and Bryan Adams' Summer of '69 pulling double duty as it was also in my 'number' rotation.

*Since I'm not playing the Song Game today, I'll just share some playlists I made for the first 3 days that I will almost certainly never listen to again. And I will do this in TABLE FORM~! My love of symmetry meant both sets of tables just had to be even. No cheating! Meaning I did no research beyond my own brain, what the rest of you mentioned in that other thread and looking up the artist names on a handful of songs. Admittedly played fast and loose with the rules towards the end of Table 1. Color Songs | Number Songs | I Saw Red- Warrant | One More Try- Timmy T | Welcome to the Black Parade- My Chemical Romance | Seven Doors Hotel- Europe | Back In Black- AC/DC | Two Minutes To Midnight- Iron Maiden | Red Barchetta- Rush | Another One Bites The Dust- Queen | Fade To Black- Metallica | 2112- Rush | Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath | 30,000 Pounds of Bananas- Harry Chapin | Paint It Black- Rolling Stones | Summer of '69- Bryan Adams | Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden | One- Metallica | Black Shuck- The Darkness | 18 and Life- Skid Row | The Court of the Crimson King- King Crimson | 14 Years- Guns N' Roses | White Wedding- Billy Idol | '39- Queen | John Deere Green- Joe Diffie | Seven Seas of Rhye- Queen | Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue- Toby Keith | 22 Acacia Avenue- Iron Maiden | Forever In Blue Jeans- Neil Diamond | 867-5309/Jenny- Tommy Tutone | Flowers Are Red- Harry Chapin | Seventeen- Winger | Hazel Eyes- The Darkness | 1648- Sabaton | 99 Red Balloons- Nena | When I'm 64- The Beatles | White Rabbit- Jefferson Airplane | I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)- The Pretenders | A Light In The Black- Rainbow | Seventh* Son of a Seventh* Son- Iron Maiden | Mr. Brownstone*- Guns N' Roses | 16th* Century Greensleeves- Rainbow |
*Going to assume these count? Hey, at least I didn't get real tricky and include Number of the Beast. Summer Songs (Normal) | Summer Songs (Baker)** | Summer of '69- Bryan Adams | American Pie- Don McLean (94) | Summertime Blues- Alan Jackson | Achy Breaky Heart- Billy Ray Cyrus (92) | Summertime- Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff | Whoomp! There It Is- Tag Team (93) | Summer In The City- The Lovin' Spoonful | Gangsta's Paradise- Coolio (95) | Summer Nights- Olivia Newton John Travolta | Boyz In The Hood- Dynamite Hack (00) | The Boys of Summer- Don Henley | Smooth Criminal- Alien Ant Farm (01) | Centerfield- John Fogerty | Let's Begin- Bad Ronald (01) | Why Not?- Rob Fahey | Clint Eastwood- Gorillaz (01) | Orioles Magic- Walt Woodward | Bicycle Race- Queen (02) | Cheap Seats- Alabama | Uptown Girl- Billy Joel (02) | All Summer Long- Kid Rock | Say Goodbye Hollywood- Eminem (02) | Walking On Sunshine- Katrina and the Waves | Old School Hollywood- System of a Down (05)
|
**These are songs that remind me of particular summers listed in ().

Came up with another 30 day themed playlist during my downtime today. This one for driving/car songs... Song | Artist | Freewheel Burning | Judas Priest | Highway Song | System of a Down | Eastbound and Down | Jerry Reed | Highway to Hell | AC/DC | Red Barchetta | Rush | No Particular Place To Go*
| Chuck Berry
| The Distance | Cake | Take Me Home, Country Roads | John Denver | Turn The Page | Metallica | Little Honda** | Beach Boys | Freewheel Burning*** | Fozzy | Born To Run | Bruce Springsteen | The Road Goes Ever On | Wuthering Heights | I'm In Love With My Car | Queen | Wanted Dead Or Alive**** | Bon Jovi |
*Baker is a rube part 2112: The "riding along in my automobile" part randomly popped into my head one day. I either sang or hummed it around my brother. This led to a discussion about the song. I was CONVINCED it came out in the 90s. My brother was like "No way! It came out in the 50s or maybe 60s. Nobody has called a car an automobile since then. Well, nobody other than you." He was right on both fronts. It came out in 1955. The conversation? That took place in 2015 or 16. **The "first gear. it's alright. faster faster...." part has occasionally got stuck in my head ever since we taped that snippet off the radio for a throwaway jobber theme in our old Full Moon Wrestling figure league circa '98. Wasn't until today that I actually discovered the name of the song and artist (though I did think it was the Beach Boys). ***This was actually the first version I ever heard. Yep, I was a Fozzy fan before becoming a Judas Priest fan. Because WRESTLING~! bubble. ****Only because it led to me calling motor vehicles "steel horses" for....the bulk of the 2000s. Before that they were "hrududu." Duh. And before that "automobiles" or "vehicles." And now they're back to being hrududu again.

I didn't pick it for today, but another one that'd fit the billing would be "Life Is A Highway" by either Tom Cochrane or Rascal Flatts.

Was at the grocery store about an hour ago and they must have known I was coming because they played Rubberband Man by The Spinners followed by Warrant's Cherry Pie. Now I'm listening to Passage To Bangkok by Rush because it was my drug/alcohol backup song.

They taught us how to love...They taught us how to live...They taught us every bad boy has a soft side...
Oh yeah. It's a Monster Ballads night. Only thing better is a Monsters of Rock night. I made a Sad, Sad Songs playlist the other day, but there's honestly no point in sharing it because it's not going to beat this...
