It’s the day of the underdog. You can tell it means more to these so-called lesser players than it does to superstars, and that extra 10% can close the gap significantly in quality. Great to watch.

Mbappe bears quite a lot of resemblance to Ronaldo Nazario, not entirely but enough physically with his pace and power that reminds you of the Brazilian great. I wonder if he could have a similar legendary World Cup career. He’s well on his way.

I’m about 90% sure I’m calling off work tomorrow to watch the Canada game.

I love the sport when it’s a knock out game. I can’t watch these other countries battle right now though. Not until it’s got the win or go home feel.

That’s cool, it’s all pretty new for me so even group stage is exciting. And I’m not even really pulling for anyone. Like sure USA wins would be cool. But I’ve been watching champions and premiere league, and the occasional MLS game so I’m more Following players I like and or respect.

The Argentina Saudi match was a banger. I’ve dug pretty much every game thus far though. I’ve grown to respect true hell out of 30 year old men who can run that much in 90+ minutes.


Also games in footy/soccer end… like usually 145 with halftime and I’m out. American footbal on tv… with commercials…5 hours later…

Anyway. I’m all ears if people Have things I should be looking for or games not to miss. and hope I don’t embarrass myself with lack

I'm tempering my dedication through the group stage too. I've watched too many of the group stage games in the past and got burned out by the time the stakes heated up. Time zone doesn't make for particularly friendly viewing times either...

France was always going to be incredibly tough, at least we had the excitement of taking the lead (and scoring from open play which we didn't manage in 2018). The boys were great for about 20 minutes but crumbled when Rabiot equalised. We have a slow team and Griezmann and Mbappe really exposed that. It was pretty reminiscent of 2010 when we got lit up by Germany in the first game, but the positive difference as Blindy mentioned is that the other game in the group was a draw.

How did Japan get 2-1 over Germany? Is AFL this good?
