Seen several “we really need to be sympathetic to Tee Higgins” posts on social media, some even insinuating people are angry with him. That can’t possibly be real right? He didn’t do anything remarkable on the play, and anyone that watches it would say the same. The anti-vax morons I at least get their angle (there’s money in blaming anything/everything on vaccines) anyone blaming Higgins just sounds nuts. I have to listen to this meathead on Jets postgame 17 games a week, how this man got beyond NY radio to get to the spot he has on ESPN First Take is beyond me. He's lived a lot of years on the "CANT WAIT" quote, he's really said some idiotic things. This might be up there though. Having to listen to Bart Scott weekly after the Jets game is something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.

This whole incident has really rammed home for me just how toxic the NFL fan/pundit culture is. I'm sure I've been guilty of this myself in the past, but people are desperate to demonise others and sensationalise everything now, it's so unnecessary. The mass outrage that came during the delay that the NFL didn't instantly cancel the game, utterly oblivious to the fact that a situation like that is much more complicated logistically than one person typing "cancel the game!", and then you've got everyone with a Twitter rushing to make medical diagnoses when they have no idea what is going on, and incorrectly citing NFL rules to 'report' what will happen with the schedule.
What Skip Bayless tweeted wasn't particularly eloquent, but neither was it remotely outrageous, people twisted his words and accused him of doing the exact thing that his tweet was clearly trying to say. This Bart Scott comment is framed as him "blaming" Tee Higgins when he's literally just describing what happened in the play. Sure, you can be cynical and say these hot take guys have made a rod for their own back, but when the reaction becomes more incendiary than the initial comments we are entering into absurd territory and a self supporting cycle of outrage. People just need to talk less.

People just need to talk less. Yeah, I thought the Skip Bayless hate was a little quick and almost a reflex when he said something that we know we’re supposed to hate whatever he says so let’s tell him how much of a monster he is. He probably shouldn’t have said anything, but what he said was so blown out of proportion that if you hadn’t seen it you’d think he said play around the guy dying on the field. But that’s not just fan culture, that’s Twitter (and social media) in general. Things that make us angry are more likely to get us to respond than things that make us happy, response rate drives algorithms, so when the algorithm then caters to us what it thinks we want to see it’s typically something said with a sneer.

People just need to talk less. I think the issue with Skip's take is the timing, it was done before the game was even called and it showed a little bit of heartlessness even if he said at the very end that it's not as big as Hamlin's well being. He also has a bad reputation of showing lack of empathy in this regard, with his "Dak Prescott isn't a tough QB after admitting he suffers from depression" take which is where he isn't getting a slap on the wrist from everyone. Same with Bart Scott's take less than 24 hours after the fact, regardless if it's soft or whatever, it's somewhat delicate to try and say Higgins made that happen even if inadvertently. If this is discussed in the offseason as to what can be done to prevent stuff like this from happening again, then I think it's fine but it's way too soon to start pointing fingers at whomever. Bart Scott also put out last year that Joe Burrow better watch himself because there outta be a bounty out for him the way he talks and acts vs Baltimore so he too also isn't a first timer when it comes to this.

Congrats to @admin as mikec pointed out. Incredible season for both guys. I remember I used to do storylines with our league after every week and it was a blast. I’ll do one here because I just smoked and yahoo isn’t doing their weekly match up summary this week. It all started at the draft. ClevelandSteamers had the #1 overall pick and he had already blindly bought himself a ticket to Broncos Country Let’s Ride tour and he passed up on a positional superstar for Russel Wilson. A huge risk turned out to be a mindblowingly bad pick in a dynasty draft. The second pick then went to mikec and he wasn’t RIDING when he made the pick, he was doing the GRIDDY because he was able to draft superstar WR1 Justin Jefferson as the 2nd pick in a KEEPER LEAGUE. Adding Justin Jefferson to his already kept superstar of Davante Adams; he had himself the most dangerous WR room in the league. Add that to the young talent of Jalen Hurts and Kyler Murray, this teams future looked bright. Until injuries starting happening to those QBs. The replacements were the likes of Ryan Tannehill, Malik Willis, Davis Mills and the non running wild Minshewmania. Makes you wonder looking at the score of the Finals if MikeC would be standing here right now a champion if he didn’t lose Jalen Hurts. Still, he was able to hold onto the top seed for a majority of the season and make it all the way to the Finals. Once there though, he matched up against the team that went Drake mode. Started from the bottom, now he’s here. @admin got hot when it mattered most and made a run from out of nowhere to secure his spot in the playoffs on the final week! Besides Cheetah, the keepers didn’t really deliver this year. The draft might not have won it for him, but he made sure that when he was on the Waiver wire, he was hitting 100% of the time. His patience with Trevor Lawrence paid off once he picked up Justin Fields and all of a sudden, he had the two best QBs from a draft class on his team dominating the sport in their own unique way. Two ways that were fantasy glory. A great year from Tony Pollard, making a trade for Ceedee Lamb had this Cowboy riding high and all the way to the top. It may not have been the best looking Finals score wise, but the way these two teams got here show what dynasty fantasy football is all about. Two great managers on the year got to square off and in the end, there was one champion and he is HR. Shout out to Lance Refridgeration for winning the consolation championship and earning himself the #1 pick in next years draft. On the pickem side, Blindy has fallen out of the picture simultaneously with the New York Jets. Now that’s TEAM DEDICATION! #1 homer for life. However, going into the final week there are 3 teams still left. @hr in 3rd place with 162 and myself and Mills Mafia (is that you RT) tied at 163. One game separation makes this week a massive week. Will I go back to back TO BACK years as the pickem champion and complete the 3Peat, will RT (I think) silently Mill his way to a pickem championship or will @admin take home 2 of the 3 PW championships this year with one last come from behind victory? See you all Week 18.

Lost in the shuffle sadly of all of this is the hilarious back and forth between Kayvon Thibodeaux & Jeff Saturday:
His confidence probably runs most the wrong way so I get that leading into the draft but he just doesn't care.

Got to give myself a pat on the back for the clutch last-minute waiver add of Tyler Allgeier to cover for Pollard in the final! After dominating this league during the Peyton in Denver era it's nice to get back on top after a few lean years, and I'm back in front of tinybignuts with my fourth championship. How's my lineup from the 2009 final?

Mills Mafia is Todd btw, play on word for Davis Mills back when his stock mattered! I am sorta rooting for Todd to win it, dude came from the dweller to get in the convo. I was trying to take chances the past few weeks with underdog to try and play catchup. Said it in the Yahoo chat but congrats @admin. Your team rolled the minute you got Fields. I came so close the final week, if I knew DJ Moore would heat up in the 1st game with Darnold and benched Garrett Wilson after he got deleted via Zach Wilson, I woulda won it

Obviously Holmes, Fitz and Manning we all know. You took a gamble on Miles Austin and it paid off.

Nah man I got no life but the old PW days were glorious. Same year, ORaider(Love that guy no matter what) and I clashed over Darrelle Revis. I got red repped by him because heading into the 09 season, I had Darrelle Revis as a top 5 cornerback in the NFL which he laughed at and said FRED SMOOT(Who was a backup CB in Washington!) was better, all because I was trolling and said by year's end he will be right with Raiders stud CB Nnamdi Asomugha....which man that was the breakout year for Revis and led to a good 6-7 pages in my Jets thread full of back and forth. Speaking of red reps, I got another one from Oraider only a year prior because I buried Brett Favre's tenure as a Jet and called him "Brianna The Wanker Favre" which pissed him off. I was clear I didn't want the trade and after he bombed the 2008 Jets season and lost to my boy Chad Pennington's Miami Dolphins in the final game of the Giant.....Jets stadium, that was up there with all time rants. Amazing Schottenheimer lasted past this but Mangini didn't, that was Rex Ryan's biggest mistake. Not drafting Sanchez but keeping Schotty. He cost us 1 if not 2 super bowl appearances, I truly believe that. I called Favre that because he was busy sexting Jet beat writers over trying to get better as a QB and he was using this 1 year as a means to get himself to Minnesota(which he did, since Ted Thompson put it in the trade that NYJ cannot trade Favre to MIN or else they pay a load of picks). Little did I know he would try and rob the poor folks of the state of Mississippi blindly, even I didn't see that one happening. I bash Ryan Fitzpatrick as a Jets QB I disliked mightily but Brett Favre is still the winner. He is the worst QB I had to root for(Christian Hackenburg never got to play but he mighta won it but alas). Even years after his dog killings, I could (somewhat) tolerate Mike Vick and Tim Tebow was a gimmick but Favre's 2008 run was a disaster. I wanted to see the Jets have a pair of balls and bench him and end the streak for Kellen Clemens, not that Clemens was good but you spent a 2nd rounder for him in 2006, see what he has for crying out loud. But Favre's ego was too much, he refused to get benched despite being hurt and he took Mangini out with him with a disaster December.

It's wild how long we have been posting about this now. I still think of myself as a relatively new NFL fan but it's been over 15 years now. The Revis/Asomugha debates are some of my earliest memories, back then ORaider gave off the impression that he knew everything but I have a suspicion that he'd have a stubborn old head vibe now and I'd probably disagree with him a lot.
Aside from this little trip down memory lane, it also hit me with the HoF finalists list today where for the first time I've seen them all play instead of just being names on a page.

What a dumb idea that playoff scenario would be. If Chiefs and Bengals win next week the Bengals would have nothing to play for so you’re giving every AFC team a bye but Cinci so you’re going to have the NFC playoffs and the Bills against Cinci’s bench, you’re going to give Philly two weeks off and if the Bills lose either of their last two you’d do the same for KC. I get that nobody wants to call it a draw, but also nobody wanted to play on Wednesday when it made sense so both teams that told the NFL they weren’t going to play take the tie, even if it was the right decision. And yes congrats to @admin, a deserving champion. I was really hoping I could bring in my second title in three years, but putting Colt McCoy back in concussion protocol really was like a final nail in the coffin of some really crappy playoff luck.

Just saw the HoF nominees and was happy to see Albert Lewis, one of my first favorite NFL players was on the list. He and Dale Carter were a monster pair or corners for some good Chiefs defenses.
Then he was one of the first to go to the hated Raiders after leaving KC and made me hate the Raiders even more.

As of 2 hrs ago, Damar Hamlin is still listed as critical but he is awake, has shown to be neurologically intact (meaning no signs of nerve or brain damage) and his lungs are healing.
Not out of the woods but he’s made big progress in the last 24 hrs and this is good news.

So here’s what’ll probably happen.
The Bills will lose in the playoffs and everyone will say it’s because they lost the home field advantage due to this. So it’ll go from coin flip to this proving once again that Buffalo ain’t meant to win a championship.

So I’ve seen a handful of ideas now that we’re willing to basically say the game won’t happen. One I read was allowing the Chiefs and/or the Bills to decide “you can have the bye or you can have home field advantage against the other, pick”. If that is the choice (I doubt it but it’s less crazy then a new week of the season with one game), which would you take? Gotta be the bye right?

I just had this conversation with my wife an hour ago when I read it on the web. I would totally take the BYE week. I went deeper into the idea of having home field advantage and having the two seed. Basing it off the standings and this rule going into place, the Bills would have to beat the Patriots this week subsequently kicking them out of the 7 seed. As the Chiefs, your next opponent is either Miami (assuming they beat the Jets or the Steelers (assuming Tomlin continues his streak of non losing seasons). How can you even risk having to face any of those 3 teams just to have a home game? No chance.

Why is this trending? Is Stephen Ross REALLY going to go after Jim Harbaugh again due to Michigan? Dude has to stop the damn dream.
McDaniel botched the Tua stuff(I don't think he was single handedly at fault though) and the team has spiraled down lately but cmon. Firing two minority HCs in a single year is just crazy.

Playing the game in a week 19 and eliminating the week off prior to the Super Bowl made the most sense to me, but I think a neutral venue AFC Championship game is reasonable too if Buffalo and Cincinnati were unwilling to resume.
Stephen Ross probably doesn't get enough criticism, he's already cost his team their first round draft pick with unnecessary meddling and now he's doing it again. Jim Harbaugh is obviously a good coach but at this point, he's been linked with so many I think he's clearly just using the NFL as leverage for his compensation at Michigan.
