Imagine those star players that wear 0. They could either make it as "Zero The Hero," or fail and go from "Hero to Zero." This is why I log into PW every day.

Seems like the Bears would be the best choice here.

The Bears are actively against it, and the NFL rarely (never?) resorts to forcing a team to do Hard Knocks. I think it might end up being the Saints - they need a bit of juice and there's a few interesting stories there, Derek Carr's redemption tour, fomer superstars Kamara and Thomas trying to get their careers back on track, Jamaal Williams...

What is the deal with all these teams with bad quarterbacks not pursuing Lamar Jackson?

What is the deal with all these teams with bad quarterbacks not pursuing Lamar Jackson? I think it's one of those "this doesn't happen often" situations so the people involved genuinely don't know how to approach it. There's been a lot of fuss made over the franchise tag over the years but the non-exclusive tag seems to really screw the player a lot more. On a pure player level there's absolutely no reason why teams like Atlanta and Indy shouldn't be falling over themselves to get him, but at this point we're not going to see any movement until the draft.

He’s expensive, legitimately really dumb, coming off of an injury and is not a winner. Damn, how many bets did he lose for you? Bro. It honestly has nothing to do with it but holy shit. Twice. One massive group parlay with my boys where we hit 7 of the 8 TD scorers on a Sunday and the only miss was Lamar Jackson. Two; he was my fantasy QB 2 seasons ago when I had the best team going into the playoffs and then he got hurt. Then I grabbed Hundley and he got hurt or COVID IDR and then I lost because I had to start Heinecke in the semi finals.

How about the owner of the Cardinals being accused of cheating?
At least when NE cheated, they won rings. Talk about a sucky organization. I hope Nuk gets traded and quick.

Cards were the only team last year to charge their players of money for any food eaten at their facilities. That is a surefire way to want players to come to your organization.

Bidwell's unwavering loyalty to Keim when he was a complete trainwreck of a GM and struggling with personal issues was one of those under the radar storylines that always seemed like it would blow up at some point. I absolutely believe the theory that the o-line coach who got fired after the Mexico game took the fall for Keim because he looks like him.

www.tmz.com/2023/04/04/ex-nfl-1st-round-pick-darron-lee-arrested-allegedly-attacked-mom-childs-mom/?adid=social-twaEx Chiefs world champion and Jets bust Darron Lee beat up his baby mama and his mother. What a winner. Yet another failed Jets 1st round pick, courtesy of Mike McCagnnan. Undersized on the field and despite decent coverage skills, unless he was juiced up on PEDs, he was never a good tackler. I forgot Leonard Williams had to pull Lee away from beating up someone at a concert few years ago, my goodness. Jets need to stay far away from anything Ohio St related unless it's on the offense(Garrett Wilson/Nick Mangold) in the high rounds. Between Vernon Gholston, Mike Nugent, Anthony Schelgel and now this bust, yeah. Even Devin Smith who was on the offense. Stay awayyy.

I’ve never been a Lamar fan and found him pretty overrated for most of his career. I don’t think he’s a quarterback that is going to ultimately be successful in the playoffs and lead teams to titles.
I do think he can be a really good regular season starter and his skill set can get a team to the playoffs, especially a team in a shitty division like the Colts. Also I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be fascinated with the idea of him and Taylor running the option out of the same backfield.

The cost for Jackson right now is just hideous. Not only is he going to cost at least half your salary cap, but two first rounders as well. Sorry but he's not worth that much. No one short of Patrick Mahomes is.

No one short of Patrick Mahomes is. Well it's not half the cap, even when Deshaun Watson's cap hit ramps up in the 2024 season he's only going to be 27% of their cap, and two first round picks is a perfectly reasonable price to pay for a top-8 QB who is only a year older than a guy who might get drafted in the first round in a couple of weeks.

How many young star or very good quarterbacks in their prime have ever hit free agency? Kirk Cousins and... Jake Plummer? That's the list?
Teams lock up decent QBs because they're so crucial. Something is going on with Lamar. I don't know if it's owner collusion or the Ravens know something, but something smells.

I think if Lamar got his money early and "won", it sort of undermines the need of agents and it would lead to more player agents or people negotiating for themselves. I think part of this is protecting the patriarchy of agents.
I think if Jackson had an agent doing the bidding for himself, he gets signed to something sooner. Lamar is trying to change the structure and others have done so as well(Richard Sherman comes to mind and he won big when he signed with SF).
The guaranteed money also factors in.

We're talking Lamar this and that, don't forget Cam Newton. The absolute carny show that is Cam Newton.
Refusing to backup Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow is godlike. Cigar in his hand too, I hope someone signs Newton just for the thrills.
EDIT: Will not backup for Patrick Mahomes. Cam Newton is amazing.

He played under the tag for the Chargers but then left for the Saints the year after, and that turned out pretty well for them.

And I think the concerns involving Lamar are legitimate enough that it’s not a slam dunk to give up the money and the capital.

The other QB that I thought of is the cautionary tale from the same free agent class, Daunte Culpepper. I’m assuming the Lamar thing is 70% collusion, 20% lack of representation, 8% his health and 2% cost. I’m a little concerned about that first number because NFL owners have shown an ability to stay United against young black QB’s. Also I’m all for players keeping their own money and not having agents… but I feel like his situation has gotten too complicated for him to not have a rep out there advocating for him. Setting the QB market is tough, use all the tools you can.

Jeffrey Simmons got a 4 year 94 mill deal for the Titans, yeah Quinnen Williams is breaking 100 mill altogether.
Do you pay Quinnen Williams that kind of salary is the question?

Setting the QB market is tough, use all the tools you can. Even if you can negotiate your own deal, there's only so many hours in a day. Being a top-level pro athlete is hard enough, get an agent to handle the rest. Then again, there's not much negotiating to do with regards to Lamar. Everyone knows what the price is.

Sucks they dumped Roman for Todd Monken because it would have been glorious to see that run first offense just continue to ignore a wide open Beckham and see his pouting. The Browns/Ravens game will be fun for this alone, OBJ will have to watch himself running down the middle for those ones.

Good tip for fans of Super Bowl winners:
I bought a shirt on NFLshop the Monday after the game.
It arrived 3 weeks later way too big and I returned it. Once the return processed I went back to NFLShop and all the SB stuff is half off so I ordered two shirts for price of one a month earlier.
So it doesn’t take long, wait the prices out. Also being the winner of the Super Bowl matters through the parade and then… nobody cares. The clothes dropping in price like the merch of a traded player, the podcasts, news coverage, it goes away quick.
