I think the product would actually be better off if Tony went the pure matchmaking route. No shitty angles. No bad promos. No skits. Just go all-out. This hodgepodge approach doesn't work. Yep. The best thing happening in AEW right now is the Continental Classic. It's just matches between exciting wrestlers with real stakes. And they're letting the wrestlers tell their own story, or get over naturally, or stories are writing themselves. Easiest booking of Tony's life and most of the work is being done for him in the ring. You have Danielson's eye injury. Andrade exposed it to beat him and now everyone is doing it. Danielson is clawing his way through the tournament by the skin of his teeth and proving that he's still one of the best in the world with only one eye. Speaking of Andrade, he's stolen Miro's girl and is on his longest win streak since joining AEW. And because of the rules of the tournament where anyone that interferes will be fired, Miro can't touch him...as long as he keeps winning and stays in. Is his motivation CJ Perry's management skills, or the fact he fears Miro's retribution? RUSH has won over the crowd even in defeat, barely holding on to a semi-finals berth and beating the fuck out of anyone that stands in his way. He has that attitude that he doesn't care if he wins or loses, he's just going to do everything he can to hurt his opponent. And the fans love it. Daniel Garcia, the most promising young talent just a year ago, is winless and was the first person eliminated from the tournament. He's had a crisis of faith the entire way, reflecting on his choices that he has made since being the ROH Pure Champion and BOLA winner. 2022 was the pinnacle of his career and he decided to stick with the Jericho Appreciation Society instead of going his own way, and now he's been abandoned by most of the group and at the lowest he's ever been. Speaking of winless, Jay Lethal can't buy a victory either, and the oldest person in the tournament (I think) is on the outside looking in at the future talent of the business, and he's struggling with that. Then there's Mark Briscoe who is just happy to be here. He likes beating people up and is going to do that every opportunity he gets. Swerve Strickland beat former AEW Champion Hangman Page not once but twice, and was undefeated in the tournament until he ran into the roadblock that is Jon Moxley. Swerve may have let his guard down a little and paid for it. He is @swerveconfident after all. One roll up that he couldn't escape has now put his fate back in his own hands, and if he can't beat RUSH this week then he's out of the tournament entirely. Jay White, who called himself the real AEW Champion for weeks after stealing MJF's belt, now has a shot to be the first stateside Triple Crown champion, and back up his big talk. With BCG unable to assist him, he's faltered a little, but is still very much alive and a real threat to making the finals. He is one win away from locking down a semi-finals spot and despite facing the undefeated Jon Moxley to get there, White has reminded us that the last time they faced each other in a tournament (2019 G1 Climax) Jay White came out on top. And speaking of champions, Eddie Kingston. We all saw how emotional he got when he won the NJPW Strong title, then followed that up by beating his nemesis for the ROH World title. Those belts mean more to him than we could ever understand after all he has been through to get to this point in his life. And without hesitation, he put them on the line because he adores the Pillars of Heaven and AJPW and the Triple Crown championship that came with all that. He knew he could lose them and was putting himself in a hard spot with this much talent in an unpredictable tournament, but he also knew that there's no point in being a champion if you aren't going to put everything on the line. Most of what I just typed wasn't written down on paper. Most of this has been through the matches and promos from the wrestlers themselves as the tournament has gone on. Pretty much the only thing planned was 1) Eddie gives up the titles to create the Triple Crown prize and 2) who is going to win what matches. The rest has been told naturally and it's easily one of the best stories AEW has told since it began.

Wow CJ Perry in the hospital and undergoing emergency surgery. She got an infection in her finger and it rapidly shot up her arm and turned her finger black. One of those infections that causes you to lose a limb if you fuck around with it.

I do. AEW he has creative control and wrestles mostly on PPVS. WWE he will lose creative control, and have to work several times a week. Why would he give up the spot he is in where he is getting top dollar to not wrestle?
Like he could jump for a chance to be on top with whatever gimmick creative gives him, or just stay on top where he is doing whatever he wants. It does not make sense to leave. He headlined AEW biggest show, he will not do the same in WWE. Moreso with Punk back in the mix.

He's Cody's prize recruit. Although he won't be main eventing Wrestlemania in 2 years (and granted, it's a big stage) there's nothing to suggest he wouldn't be managed very well, although he'd be starting fresh - mid card fresh. But if you think about what LA Knight achieved in 12 months, imagine what MJf could. Half his age and twice the worker. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing taking a step back to take 10 steps forward eventually.

Do we actually buy that MJF hasn’t renewed? I have the same thought. There is a consensus in the IWC that there’s no way Tony Khan would give this much juice to an outgoing talent, but it’s all under the assumption that Tony Khan is competent as a leader and businessman, and I don’t think he is. Just because MJF is cheerleading on Twitter for the company doesn’t mean he’s signed shit.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: either MJF has already renewed or Tony Khan is an even bigger moron than we could have all imagined.

You could have a segment on Raw then where two world titles from another company are thrown in the trash. But at this point MJF probably knows he has more freedom in AEW just needs to pretend to be interesting in WWE. Make up a number he wants to be paid tell Tony this is what I need to stay and Tony probably will do it. If Tony is worried about a friend of Cody's jumping he needs to do better by Ricky Starks.

In addition to reports that Dana Massie, Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer is leaving too. Dana is the wife of Matt Jackson.

The All Out Brawl Out Fall Out continues.
-----
Reason behind Dana Missie (wife of Matt Jackson) leaving AEW revealed
Dana Missie was the Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer of AEW since the companies inception. The WON are reporting that Missie left the company due to Tony Khan not defending The Young Bucks, and not “giving them a chance to explain publicly what happened” following the All Out 2022 backstage fight.
“She was someone at one point expected to do this forever. I think with everything that happened over the last year with her husband and brother-in-law, vilified and never defended and never being allowed to defend themselves and the company never defending them, it made it really difficult.”

The merchandise at events has always been a criticism among fans, so I'd say it's a blessing in disguise that she fell on her sword.
Nick Hausman is reporting that she was earning seven figures. Of course Hausman is just a mouthpiece for Punk so I wouldn't take that to the bank but that's a story that's out there.
Dave is also re-litigating the Brawl Out press conference on the Observer forum.
It's amazing how out of touch Dave is. If the Bucks and Megha had any professionalism about them, they would have recognised that emotions were high and that a meeting should take place later on. CM Punk's line about having a problem, wasn't a formal invitation and Punk wasn't in a good mood simply because he was joking about his dog in the press conference. In fact as they were wrapping up, he took the time to go after Alvarez for his coverage on the Hangman promo.
The lack of criticism aimed at Jericho here is astounding. Everyone should be moving on, especially somebody who wasn't involved and has only tried their best to capitilise on it.

Jericho is a leech.
And sadly, the more they entertain him, the worse he's going to get.
The greatest thing Jericho ever did was convince a locker-room of misfits he was on a higher level.
Everyone else of his generation and profile seems to have found some sort of peace and to some degree aims to give back to the business, but he's just all in on putting himself over 24/7. I hope he eats shit over this just to shut him up.

Actually the greatest thing Jericho ever did was beat The Rock and Stone Cold in the same night. I’m surprised he never mentions it tbh. Big Pete nailed it. AEW merch is an absolute joke. I was psyched to spend my money when they came to Edmonton in the summer but ended up leaving empty-handed because they had fuck all available. Some AEW Elite t-shirts with Canadian flags on them, a few random things like MJF shirts, lanyards, fake belts. And that was it. For a t-shirt company they have a real shit selection outside of their website. I’m interested to see if things are different when I go again in May.

Her LinkedIn says the highest profile job she had prior to being involved in Young Buck Inc and AEW was working as an Assistant Property Manager.
My money is on her being overwhelming under-qualified, and/or inexperienced considering the volume, which likely lead to a decision being made to replace her.
Being upset that no-one defended your obnoxious shit-stirring husband is just an excuse.

Shawn Spears has officially left the company.
I was convinced he left months ago as he toured Australia recently.
He reportedly asked for his release.
He and Cassie Lee have a second child on the way also.

TK has also stated, Collision has seen a ratings increase over the last 5 weeks due to being a more " sports based " show. This will continue, as it's working.
So expect more wrestling.
This may be AEW’s groove - wrestling. With purpose of course, the Classic series is obviously a vehicle to replace soap opera structure.

There’s nothing wrong with appealing to cagematch AS LONG AS you are aware that always getting good ratings on a website that relies on internet nerds contributions won’t always result in success.
It’s like making movies and your only goal is to get >95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Maybe your movie will be a wild success, maybe it will even win awards. But more likely you are appealing to a niche audience and are still getting blown out of the box office every weekend by Michael Bay.
I’m not sure Tony realizes this.
