Adam Copeland has been cleared but is still filming season 2 of Percy Jackson. Reports are filming for that wraps in January.
I wonder if they save him for a monster return in Brisbane. Something big has to happen at that show.
Speaking of, they’re moving venues for Brisbane because of poor ticket sales. Seeing comments from Australians saying two things: Brisbane was a stupid place to hold their first show and marketing has been non-existent. It’s fucking weird that we hear more about the show here in North America than where the damn show is.
Anyway hopefully they manage to fill a decent venue and the show is good.

I think TK chose Brisbane because it’s gonna be an Olympic city in 2032, and wanted to give the city some publicity.

Should have done his research.
Melbourne or Sydney is it.
But you also have to remember WWE has a stranglehold on Australia. It's as embedded in Foxtel culture as much as The Simpsons Saturday Morning Marathon was. It has a dedicated channel on Foxtel and constant promotion.
AEW is regulated to ESPN and almost every PPV has been on at $50, outside of the most recent Full Gear and ALL IN.

Yeah, nah. Likely Melbourne and Sydney were booked hard all the way into Autumn. The likelihood of getting and filling The MCG or Marvel Stadium is low. Rod Laver would have been a good place to have it.

I saw someone comment that they likely got a tax break for choosing Brisbane. How’s that work? Or is that person making shit up? I don’t know of anything like that in Canada but I haven’t really checked either.

I’m also curious how much of it had to do with Toni Storm being from Gold Coast.

The logic behind Brisbane was sound. Third biggest capital city that had been starved of big events and Suncorp is one of the best stadia in the country with a good capacity. The issue is that AEW has virtually zero market penetration here and their demographic can't afford tickets.
The promotional packages have been pretty dismal. A lot of the packages have centered around the Gates of Agony trying to appeal to our Polynesian community and lately they've been ramping it up with Adam Cole doing his sales pitch to come what the best wrestle and it's just a bunch of random high spots and Kyle Fletcher.
The Pro Wrestling crowd here is extremely casual. They don't follow the current product, so the only name that means anything is Jericho and it's not like he's a Cena or Brock Lesnar type star. With the Kyle Fletcher push, you can see an effort to make an Australian star but there's two things. He's a heel and he's also from Sydney. One of our biggest sporting events is where we take 17 of the best Queenslanders and 17 of the best New South Welshmen and watch them destroy each other for 80 minutes.
They're really going to have to go hard with Toni Storm, but she's such a gimmick right now, it's going to be tough to sell her as the hometown favourite winning on the big stage.
Personally I'm surprised with the news. I've been umming and ahhing on attending and when I went to go look at tickets, the vast majority were all in the nose-bleeds. Maybe they were waiting to sell that allotment out before expanding, but I was personally waiting for the discount, knowing full well it would likely happen.
As it stands, I'd imagine they'll head over to Boondall over in North Brisbane and have it at the Entertainment Centre which sits around 10K people. Otherwise they may take it down the Gold Coast and have it at Cbus Super Stadium which sits around 30K people. That might actually make for a better viewing experience.
I haven't heard anything about Queensland tourism being involved in this. Stadium Queensland probably offered the best deal and all things being equal AEW would have got as much bang for their buck if they opted for Sydney or Melbourne.

Given that Timeless Toni just retired, it might time for a Gold Coast pinga-rat gimmick.
They also need to put something into motion for Buddy, perhaps a mid-card title match to spark some interest.
And there's always Harley. God it must frustrating for her husband given he spent 10 years trying to be a wrestler and got all of a handful of matches on TV.

It would be a wild twist if they moved to a bigger venue and not a smaller one. Would make the usual suspects in the “media” look foolish. Again.
Buddy Matthews is a good shout. Looking more and more like he will get some singles wins.
Matthews vs Takeshita for the International Title would be fucking massive.

Suncorp is the biggest stadia in Queensland, so unless they move it to another capital city (and refund thousands of tickets) it would be highly unlikely. Maybe Fightful is right, but I'm shocked they've given up this early. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they only just released this promotional package recently: www.facebook.com/ESPNAusNZ/videos/aew-is-coming/941347361195159/Which was an improvement over those Gates of Agony/Aussie Open highlights I keep quibbling about. I would have presumed promoting the show more, getting more media exposure, discounting the tickets would have been better than moving the event altogether.

Are there a lot of Polynesians in Brisbane or are they all in Western Sydney?

Are there a lot of Polynesians in Brisbane or are they all in Western Sydney? A ton, especially around Ipswich, Logan and the Gold Coast.
There's meant to be a sizeable population along the north side as well.

Got em. Saw some of the Starks interview, he also went in on Adam Copeland and AEW/TK for keeping him at home.

Now Ricky Starks has been pulled from GCW dates either due to the interview that dropped today or due to one of GCW's stars Effy destroying Tony Khan and his dad in an interview last week.
It's crazy how much AEW is imitating Vince's WWE all the while WWE is trying to build bridges with GCW and other Indy feds. Excluding NJPW and CMLL.
Starks just needs to not get hurt or else he will get Rey Fenix'd. He will escape AEW in Spring/Summer of 2025 and should be golden with WWE.

It is a bad look. There's no other way he can spin it. It's like being in the rival team's locker-room, it's not difficult to understand.
But, TK is wasting this guy. He's absolutely dropped the ball on Starks.
I wonder what he did though? I wonder who he pissed off. It can't be an simple as sniffing around WWE too much, but I could understand if it was.

Well, it's official. AEW has moved from Suncorp to The Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Apparently it can host 10,000 people.

Didn't Punk visit in the WWE locker room while he was still under contract with AEW?

Starks and Fenix deserve better and to get out of this company. Both seem to try to do all they can for the company when giving time or healthy.

Urge to attend Grand Slam, fading.
Suncorp was a major selling point, so having this at the same arena of every WWE House Show of the past 20 years takes away the allure. Plus, Suncorp Stadium is far more accessible than the Entertainment Centre which is outside of the CBD and over into the north side.
I'm surprised that ticket sales were THAT bad, but I guess it goes to show that Brisbane failed to sell out the first allotment. It always seemed like a weird proposition, considering we only just get AEW back in 2023 and the promotion is tucked away on ESPN and constantly gets pre-empted so it's never grown an audience down here.
The thing is too with AEW, I don't know what I'm getting. When the WWE advertise a show like Elimination Chamber, I know I'm getting two Chamber matches and that Rhea was going to be on the show. Here, AEW could include a bunch of guys and girls I saw live, or I could get a bunch of Dark Order guys and Jeff Jarrett on the show.

Apparently they sold 10k tickets already and the venue change is because of fears about weather and not the sales. I personally think it’s probably a mix of both but I have no idea. At least they’ll be in a full building now instead of praying they somehow double/triple sales to look good on TV.

He straight up lied and was probably drunk when tweeting that shit. He’s done dumb shit like this before. There’s a reason he’ll never move on from that trash company. Effy bit the hand that feeds and found out. I’m really getting annoyed with all the people that said TK needed to grow a backbone whining because he’s now showing he isn’t such a pushover. Dude can’t win. Haters just gonna spin everything he does as “TK bad!”
