My understanding is that

If team Bayley/Naomi win, whoever scores the pin gets the title shot.
In this scenario the leaving Smackdown part doesn’t apply.

If team Nia/Tiffany win, whoever they pin has to leave Smackdown.

Makes some sense. I think it would have been a better idea to for Jax to try to pit Naomi and Bayley against each other in a singles match ... Let them tear each other up, while Jax can just sit pretty. Wonky set-up, as is, imo.

... So Cody and Reigns have signed the contract for their tag match against Solo and Fatu, signing off SD. I give tonight's SD a Shucky Ducky on the Shucky Ducky Quack Quack scale. Didn't love the the use of the cage for Cody/Solo, network premier or not ... and now we're going cage to tag. We're booking backwards.

Fantastic confrontation between Reigns and Rhodes. I like the original setting and how it played into their words. I also love the emphasis on how they are more enemies than friends.

Which brings me back to last week. Cody defeats Solo in the cage. Bloodline beatdown. Reigns makes the save, Cody and Reigns stand tall. Both men declaratively declare that they won't team with the other. At the end of the show, Cody and Reigns again fight off the Bloodline. With surprisingly little resistance considering how adamant they were earlier, both sign the contract. It felt too easy, too lazy. You could drag out that tension for a few more weeks. The football field face off doesn't change, or barely changes, with both guys still uncommitted to the match. Adds more weight to Cody wanting Roman to promise to have his back.

I've really fallen out of love with these low key sets. I need some early 2000s trons back in WWE.

It’s truly incredible that after all Roman did they made me root for him and also despise the new Bloodline. I honestly can’t believe that this storyline is still so good after all these years. Arguably the best long term booking in wrestling history.

It does doesn't it. I was feeling all nostalgic thinking we'd had already seen it.. well, I have, playing EWR.

Very happy for these guys, they deserve the pay day and deserve the time at the top. I cant help to wonder why AEW didn't pick them up early and lock them in given their history with The Bucks in TNA.

The Guns were my team in TNA, and next week should be chaotic against DIY - my team on Smackdown.

My guess is they knew they could make bank in either company and looked at AEW and thought “been there done that.” And if so, good. They have so many more options in WWE. Even if they only wrestle a year or two then hang it up, they have so many options for banger matches it’s crazy.
