Frankly, we had Chinese cars, we would swap to electric far, far faster. But people are afraid the cars will have Chinese wifi or AI to spy on Americans.
I hate the tariffs and think Trump's straight flat tariffs are even more idiotic.
And no one will sell at a loss, they pass the tariff cost onto the consumers, which is why I hate them.

I saw a Cybertruck in a parking lot today. I took a walk around it. It looks even dumber in person.
I love my Model Y. They should just crank those out as fast as possible.

Musk just told Tesla either he gets his 50 billion, which will give him 25% control of Tesla or he will stop designing AI and robots for them. I see no real downside for Tesla here...

You mean he will stop coming up with insane ideas that engineers have to work 120 hour weeks to figure out? What ever will they do!?

Reported Musk will be part of Trump's post election liberal voter fraud detection team. Official government advisement role if Trump wins, part of the team to overturn the election if he loses.
Worked out great for Mike Lindell. Who knows, maybe Musk will be the first person involved in this movement that does not lose in court.

How does the world's worst businessman keep doing it? The man considered World's Biggest Idiot by many of the super geniuses right here on PW wins again with Tesla stock booming over the past few days, once again making me a pretty penny in the process as I bought back in April when it was in the 140s and sold today with it in the high 240s. #winning

Congress people are selling their Tesla shares. Something to be following if you have shares. No metric predicts the market better than congress moves since they trade on inside information.

Baker you're wrong, clearly. There will be no more talk of any success from potentially the most significant innovator of our generation... because, umm...

The Model Y and Cybertruck stand in sharp contrast to one another. I've had a Model Y for a year. I love it way more than I thought it would. They should crank those out as fast and cheaply as possible. The Cybertruck, on the other hand, is going to be Telsa's Edsel. Or, their Homer.

I actually saw a cybertruck in the wild this past week. My area has a decent tesla population as I see the basic ones semi frequently and my grocery store even has charging stations. I wanted to get a pic but I couldn't do it in time for the green light. It was weird seeing it in person.

This thread, focused on the “many, many failures” of Musk is almost a year old.
In that time, Musk has lost about $30B.
Which means the richest man in America is now the …
Richest man in America. Still.
Huh.

I can't understand how :
- Being the richest man in the world - Leading innovation across multiple industries - Owning a spaceship - Being the richest man in the world - Developing AI technologies and leading the market in the implementation of said technologies - Putting computers in people's brains - Being the richest man in the world - Developing the highest selling Car ( not EV ) car in the world today - Developing and implementing an alternative to traditional internet service - Being the richest man in the world
Feel free to add to this list..
And this man has failed?

Yeah.. well, some people around here would rather be broke and " cool " by internet standards than be in Elon Musk's position.

Saw the Cybertruck again. No clue if it's the same dude or if the company actually made a profit selling multiple.

Yeah he’s so cool and rich. Controversial opinion, but Musk purchasing Twitter has literally rescued Democracy and free speech. The guy is prone to bring a knob but the west owes him a debt of gratitude. The left is too blind to see it though, too shortsighted to see what would happen if their machine was turned on them.

Can't talk about most statistical research on the site as saying CIs is considered a slur. And research these days without confidence intervals is basically not worth talking about.

What's funny is, it hasn't failed. They sold over 5,100 of these things in July alone. And it settles for the 6th best selling EV in The States CYTD.

This may be the equivalent of arguing AEW is successful because it’s the top Wednesday night cable program. Like, sure, it is … but its ratings also suck.

It's an EV and a Truck, so it's double niche. And it's aimed at tech bros not farmers or rednecks.
But yes, I can see your point.. made for geeks, by geeks.
I recently hired a hybrid Toyota Camry and was blown away by its efficiency. Power wise, it was gutless and struggled through the hills, and this is perhaps the only time the petrol engine kicked in outside of assisting the EV engine charging its battery when you took your foot off the gas, it was insane as it was running in EV mode 98% of the time, and the way I was driving it, it could likely go forever without seeing a petrol station.
It had something like a 750km petrol range, on top of the 500 odd kms the battery could power the car. Insanity.

I don't know, but I think the numbers might be skewed, if it is measuring deliveries there was a huge backlog of Cybertruck orders. That being said, the Cybertruck pretty much ended the all the other utilities in the space. Most impressive thing out of Musk recently (apart from the rocket landing NATH45 mentioned) is the Optimus debut, I know there were still smoke and mirrors in the demo, but if they are able to replicate that, the world is going to change as we know it within a year from whenever it is released.

I didn't know whether I was watching some sci-fi/Black Mirror shit or it was an actual promo for this bot - but, it is scary.
You know in every dystopian movie, when an old-timer talks about the before time and how " it happened "... this is it. That cliff is right there in front of us and we're driving straight at it.

World's Dumbest Businessman strikes again. "Overpays" for social media company which has struggled to ever turn a profit. Relaxes rules, running off risk averse advertisers to curry favor with the unwashed masses who still believe in quaint old American values such as free speech. Haters be like Two years later Elon's gamble pays off. Far from an albatross, Elon's ballsy move now has him in the inner circle of the world's most powerful man, once and future POTUS, Donald John Trump. This is what winning looks like. Never doubt this man again. Btw Tesla stock just jumped to its highest price since July 2023. More winning!
