Leafs need a big bounceback game after a couple stinkers. Matthew Knies puts them up 1-0 early in the 1st. Everything looking good.

4-1 Tampa by the end of the 1st. Sammy pulled for the second game in a row. Leafs Nation is on fire and literally eating each other.

So naturally the Leafs win 6-5 in OT thanks to Auston Matthews being god and Joseph Woll standing on his head. LEAFS HOCKEY, BABY.

For those that didn't see, the game went to a shootout. Tied at 1 goal apiece, Mitch Marner has a chance to win the game. Instead he crosses himself up and falls on his face before he can shoot. Worth every penny.

Florida scores on the next attempt and wins, or so they thought. Turns out the player tapped the puck twice before it went in, which is not allowed, so the goal didn't count.

Leaf fans that had already headed for the exits turn around and head back to their seats. Noah Gregor buries the next attempt, Woll comes up big and forces Florida's next attempt wide and off the post. Leafs win. Paul Maurice cries to the refs (as usual).

Apparently a Florida player was overheard saying "only in Toronto!" as they had to return to the bench after thinking they won. As if that exact team didn't eliminate the Leafs from the playoffs just last year on what should have been an interference penalty. :lol:

Them scoring 5 goals in the 3rd to force overtime then losing on a weak wrist shot is so Leafy. They keep finding ways, man.

Tickets locked in for Leafs/Oilers on the 16th. My wife surprised me with a late Christmas gift. Her uncle has Oilers season tickets and he is going to the Caribbean and won’t be in town so he sold them to her. We still had to pay quite a bit for them because it’s the one game he makes money on but he gave us a family discount. Still far cheaper than using Gametime or a scalper.

Gonna watch Auston Matthews live in person for the first time. And it’s against McDavid. I haven’t been to a game since 2014. William Nylander wasn’t even on the team yet. I can’t fucking wait.

Hartman admits to high sticking Perfetti on purpose during a face off as payback for Dillon cross checking Kaprizov. Perfetti kept this to himself until after the game.

I have many thoughts but generally speaking, the Leafs played lazy in the 2nd period and it bit them. Otherwise they were fine.

Refs also let things get out of hand for sure. Stutzle wasn't the only one diving and the fact the Leafs didn't get a single PP was fucking ridiculous. Sens were playing chippy as fuck and got away with a lot.

Not saying Rielly should have done what he did. Actually yes, I am saying that. The stick coming up was an accident but he's still responsible and still deserves a suspension, but holy shit am I happy to see SOMEONE do SOMETHING on this team. Bottom feeders stunt on the Leafs all the time and fans are sick of it. Apparently Rielly is too.

Doubt that happens if the refs called a fair game. However the slapshot into the net deserves a response. If you watch the replay the refs all immediately skate towards Grieg as soon as he did it. They knew someone was going to hit him.

NHL has a code and whether you like it or not, it exists. Grieg won't do that shit again. 

It must be exhausting to be a Leafs fan, to hang on to every little bit of anything that happens. Oh Marner had one bad shift, better trade him. Matthews scored 4 goals, give him Gretzky's record. Rielly is an idiot, but thank god he's fired up and somebody cares.
