Auston Matthews > Connor McDavid At goal scoring, absolutely. Nobody better than Matthews. But other than homer Leaf fans, nobody would pick Matthews over McDavid for their team. McDavid makes everyone around him so much better.

Down 5-3 with 4 minutes to go, the Islanders completely collapse allowing TWO POWER PLAY GOALS TO TIE THE GAME.
Then the Rangers win it in overtime. There they go doing what they do and getting Rangers fans excited.

Wish I took them but I had $50 on a Zibanejad goal at +190 so he won me some change with that game tying goal.

I don't watch hockey, but had the Rangers/Islanders game on while dealing with other stuff, great finish, loves me a comeback (when it's not against my team...which isn't a thing outside of football).

Yo how off am I comparing the star players I know by following via betting to NFL players. Connor McDavid*- Josh Allen Auston Matthews- Lamar Jackson Nate McKinnon- Patrick Mahomes Mikko Rantanen- Travis Kelce Sidney Crosby- Aaron Rodgers Pretty spot on but Sid I would change. He's far more successful and has far more longevity than Rodgers. McDavid is the best all-around player in the league but can't buy a championship because the rest of his team constantly lets him down. Matthews is the best pure goal-scorer in hockey today, maybe ever, but lacks in other areas that keep him from being the very best. McKinnon is the ACTUAL best all-around player in the league, but because he doesn't put up McDavid numbers everyone calls him #2. Rantanen is the Pippen to McKinnon's Jordan, so yeah, the Kecle to his Mahomes. I can't think of anyone in the current NFL I would compare Crosby to. I'm trying to think of a veteran that has been consistently good for a long time and has playoff success to back it up. Tom Brady would be a perfect example but he retired. ... Auston Matthews potted #49 today. There is a very very good chance he nets #50 in Arizona on Wednesday night, which would be pretty sweet for him. Too bad it will be in a high school gymnasium or wherever the Coyotes play these days.

A bit late to the Rangers comeback but I just wanted to say a couple of things - Laviolette pulling Shesterkin twice for a 6 man powerplay was some big onion hanging, he deserves a lot of credit, and the play that Fox made at the blueline to keep the puck in the o-zone prior to Mika's tying goal was iconic. He's so good.
I wish Sam Rosen was calling that game.

Since we got a bit of activity here and it's a little past the halfway point in the season, I am going to see where my way-too-early predictions lie. Yes I know I fucked up with Chicago/Winnipeg but in my defence that was before Winnipeg re-signed everyone (I did not expect that) and the Bedard over-hype was real. My bad on that. Atlantic 1. Florida Panthers 2. Toronto Maple Leafs 3. Tampa Bay Lightning *** 4. Boston Bruins 5. Buffalo Sabres 6. Ottawa Senators 7. Montreal Canadiens 8. Detroit Red Wings Not bad, but like everyone else I gave the Sens & Sabres too much credit. And also expected Boston to fall off for the second year in a row (spoiler: they are never falling off). Aside from having the Flyers in last (who can blame me) this isn't too far off. Still a good chance the season ends with this being relatively close (minus Philly). LMAO Already addressed in my first comment above. I don't know why I had the Wild doing so well. But they did score 10 goals today! Almost nailed this one minus the Oilers slow start that no one saw coming and the Canucks deciding to be good which also no one saw coming. If it weren't for those two outliers this might be a perfect prediction. That's hockey, baby! Could happen! Probably not but could! Oof. Double oof. I mean obviously. Easiest pick ever. He's scoring 70+ so why not. Who fuckin knows

I like that the Rangers had a solid grind it out win tonight, it would have been easy to have a let down game after the Isles comeback. Igor had one of his best games of the season, a couple of absolute beauties.
That's 8 in a row now after a mixed run of form. Kakko's return seems to have really helped, the splits while he was out are quite stark:
Before injury: 15-3-1 During injury: 11-10-1 After return: 11-3-1

He's so good. I wish Sam Rosen was calling that game. ABC/ESPN broadcast is really hard to watch. Zero analysis throughout the game. Instead awkward interviews with NY football players who are booed all season because they suck. Maybe mention Jagr's jersey retirement ceremony later in the day maybe a little important in the hockey world. Panarin's hardwork causing a turnover immediately into overtime right in front of Sorokin zero replay, kids don't turnover the puck in overtime in front of your goalie.... Islanders really let Sorokin down. Awful penalties late in the game. Rangers PP and Shesterkin are the key to the Rangers having success. Rangers depth is weak so they really need their powerplay to come up with goals. Rangers PP is so effective because they use everything to get the puck to the net. Not just a Zibanejad one timer. Panarin skates with the puck from the point to the net then shoots instead of just shooting from the blueline. That has led to goals and just that little thing creates a much better scoring chance. Fox lobs the puck to the net looking for a deflection. One timers, point shots hard and soft, and skating with the puck to the net, taking advantage of the open ice it really makes it hard on the opposition. Also winning faceoffs and winning loose pucks is hard work paid off. Instead of regrouping the Rangers immediately reset in the offensive zone.

Too many turnovers and sloppy play especially in the third period while trying to protect the lead. Rangers had no business winning that game. Shesterkin one of his best performances in his career. Despite the awful play in front of him watching Shesterkin dominate is really fun to watch. Benn and Seguin could not believe sure goals were stopped.

Auston bangs in #50 in his backyard.
Leafs up 3-0 in the 1st and still on a power play.
Provided they don't choke this away they will be a perfect 5-0 since Morgan Rielly told the Ottawa Senators to get fucked.

I hope you enjoy the game more than I enjoyed the stupid traffic downtown when I went to pick my daughter up from her after school club. Their school is like 3 blocks from Rogers Place and when the Oilers have a home game on a Wednesday it makes picking my kid up after her club a nightmare.

KING KID picked a good game to stay up for. 4-1 Bruins turned into a 5-5 OT. Leafs had a shit 2nd but pulled it together for a huge win. That was a solid game.

I feel like I watch Edmonton and Colorado the most and Edmonton just reminds me of the Bills so much. You can just tell they donāt have it in them to win it all no matter what. Having a power play in OT and not capitalizing and losing shows it.
Also was super bummed Matthews didnāt get the hat trick. I felt it was guaranteed considering he had 2 going into the 3rd period.
