Rangers keep on rolling with a dominant performance against the Devils. Hughes called out his team said they should be embarrassed. Love it.
As long as the Rangers don't get caught in the offensive zone that leads to an odd man rush, don't get trapped in their defensive zone for minutes, continue to be hard on the puck while covering their guy without the puck then it makes it so much easier for them. Rangers don't have a ton of offensive depth, but their top six is certainly capable of carrying them offensively. Rangers bottom six is a really nice mix of grinders especially with the recent call ups. Rangers are in trouble when they play weak and leave guys open. And, their top guys do not produce since there is not much offensive depth until the trade deadline.
I have always been a Lafreniere fan. He has always had all the tools to be a star in this league, but the Rangers organization has limited his growth due to his ice time. Any player who is a first overall draft pick or expected to be a point per game player you can't be stuck on the third line with no powerplay time for years and be expected to grow into a superstar. He is on his way to career highs in all offensive categories and guess what? Averages 17:19 minutes by far the most in his career and is on the second PP unit. And, he is only 22! Every night he shows he can not only produce offensively, but he can be an offensive leader on the team. Unfortunately, a little bit of too much stick handling in the neutral zone spoiled Shesterkin's shutout.
Anyone had a chance to watch the Professional Women's Hockey League? I have watched a couple games on TV. Really fun, competitive, and physical. Goalie Abbey Levy for NY really fun to watch. One of the best parts about the league is there are no ridiculous ads on the boards. Really love watching the "old" broadcast while resting my eyes.

This was one of the Rangers games when their stars were absent from the entire game. Too many quality scoring chances allowed and poor defending, but Shesterkin stole another game, and the Rangers depth provided enough offense including Rempe's first NHL goal.

Toronto has been playing some very inspiring hockey lately. Seven straight since that bad loss to Ottawa.
And Bertuzzi got a hat trick on his birthday!

Huge win for them against Colorado too.
I am also starting to hate McDavid and itās because he wants to be Steve Nash and just pile up assists. Last night he has an easy shot on goal, but decides to get cute and try and squeeze it in to Hyman so he could get a hat trick. My guy, you can score fucking goals too especially when I bet on you to.

The PWHL announced their playoff structure and how the draft for next season will be determined, and I'm curious what you guys think. Because I think it's fucking genius.
-The top 4 teams will make the playoffs. -The #1 overall team has 24 hours to pick their semi-finals opponent. -The semi-finals & finals are determined in a best of 5 series. -Higher seed gets home ice for games 1, 2 & 5.
Draft order:
-After the 4 playoff teams are determined, the other 2 teams mathematically eliminated will begin to earn "draft points." -Whichever team has more draft points at the end of the season will get the #1 pick in the draft.
The only thing we don't know is if the playoff teams will just draft in order of seeding, or in order of how they are eliminated from the playoffs. ie: if the #1 seed is eliminated in the semi-finals, do they pick 3rd overall or are they still the last team to pick? I assume the latter.
I think this is a genius idea. Imagine if the NHL adopted this. A fair and balanced way to determine draft order while also keeping things competitive until the very last night of the regular season, even for bottom feeders? And imagine the winner of each division got to pick who they faced in the 1st round. I fucking love this.

Not really something I would want in the NHL. The lottery system makes it not a guarantee to pick first overall. I also do not see any team not trying on any given night. I watched briefly NY/Ottawa the other night. Seeing a game live in the Ottawa 67 rink from NY on TV is awesome.

Leafs are 8-1-1 in their last 10 before hosting Boston and after that absolute butt fucking I donāt even care about their last 10.
Fucking boogeyman. Every time. I hate them SO MUCH.
And they get to play them again on Thursday IN BOSTON after playing Buffalo the night before, another team that always shows up because they hate the Leafs. FUCK.

Rangers made a low cost move to acquire Alex Wennberg from Seattle to fill the 3C spot that was open since Chytil was unfortunately ruled out for the rest of the season. Hoping to add another Alex but I don't know if Tuch is too likely.

Man Auston Matthews is my new favorite player. I bet him to score a goal and then live bet him to score again heading to the 3rd period with PLUS ODDS and this absolute legend scores the game winner in overtime.

I was in a discussion on reddit about playoff format and out of boredom (and because I wanted to visualize it) I made a playoff bracket that would resemble March Madness, ie: 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc. This is based on if the playoffs started today: NHL.com must have updated since I made the bracket because the Rangers are 1st overall now, so swap them with Boston if you want an up to date bracket. Also Washington just moved ahead of Detroit so you can swap them for the 16 spot. Whatever. Kind of interesting because if you stick with east vs. west/conference teams playing each other, not much changes. Boston vs. Detroit NYR vs. Philly Florida vs. Tampa Carolina vs. Toronto Vancouver vs. Vegas Colorado vs. LA Dallas vs. Nashville Winnipeg vs. Edmonton

Florida/Tampa and Carolina/Toronto are ECF match ups. Too bad two of the four will not advance past the first round. Detroit and Philly are the weakest teams in both conferences, but no one expected them to make the playoffs, especially Philly. The West is hell.

Big milestone evening for the Rangers tonight, clinched the playoffs and Panarin became the first 100 point scorer since Jagr 20 years ago.
Schedule on the run home is relatively soft, they could easily win the president's trophy.

Apparently "secondary altercations" are an automatic game misconduct. Apparently heavy weights Lazar and Vesey was the original fight even though Rempe and McDermid could not even stand next to each other at puck drop. Funny how the two non fighters remain in the game. Silly rule forced both teams to play with four defensemen. Back in 2012 why were there no automatic game misconducts during that line brawl between the Rangers and Devils?

Oilers winning without McDavid is cool, but dominating Vegas without him 5-1 is even cooler. Rooting for these guys come the playoffs.

The best thing about Matthews season is that he's got 51 goals at even strength, no PP padding there.

Of course I did not bet him today because I had my money locked up in UFC 300 bets. However, Toronto needs to figure out a way to not allow so many goals. A lot of shoot outs lately. They remind me of the Dolphins.
