The US Constitution is a particularly shitty document, it doesn't have the power to control many things, but it is the highest law in the land.
What the Court ruled is that a President is not subject to criminal law in how he executes the office of President.

If he was to steal to further his own wealth or to spy on opposition candidates, both these things would be outside his role as President and subject to prosecution.

Orders of impeachment will hit the floor for Alito and Thomas when Congress returns. It is unlikely the US survives another term of Trump with the powers of a King. That was not the setting in which states join the union under and there will be moves to leave.

Presidents should have immunity for bona fide presidential duties. Unfortunately the recent ruling also specifically says that the courts may not consider the motive of the president for whatever act being tried. The thinnest of veneers will provide total immunity.

Seeing some talk they may try to impeach Trump again. Article 1.3 of the constitution states that the impeached party if convicted is liable for indictment. But many have lost all faith in congress or the supreme court at this point.

And yeah a major weakness of the US legal system is it presumes everyone can only act in good faith for issues like immunity, or criminal defenses. This assumption then gets ignored as soon as a jury gets involved. So those will good lawyers can get cases dismissed for charges that normal people get convicted on.

As expected Trump announced this morning that created a fake slate of electors and falsifying business records in NY were both official presidential acts. Presumed before days end, inciting a riot and taking classified documents then lying about it will also be presidential acts.

Judge ordered the release of the Epstein grand jury documents. I bet a lot of presidential actions will be revealed. But just minor ones I suspect.

Twitter banned now in Brazil after Musk tried to strong arm their Supreme Court. Massive fines for anyone in the country that continues to use it as well.

Part of this also included all Starlink accounts being frozen and funds seized, as Brazil will not treat them as two separate companies.  Starlink claims they will fight it, but do not really have any vector to appeal from.

I do love Musk trying to claim that the high court of Brazil is demanding Musk break Brazilian law.  Like pretty sure the supreme court of Brazil knows Brazilian law bro.  And the assumption that Twitter is above Brazilian laws somehow is just ludacris.  And Musk already learned this in Russia, China, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Venezuela and Turkmenistan that all banned him when he refused to comply with their laws.  

Is funny how Musk has no problem censoring stuff to comply with laws for India, Egypt, Israel or Pakistan's right wing governments.

It also stems from X refusing to censor ADM's political opponents - supporters of the former right wing president Jair Bolsonaro. Hence the " misinformation " tag line - in addition to be accused of threatening to arrest X's employees in Brazil for failing to comply with his blocking orders.

He previously gained prominence after his decisions to restrict other social media platforms - having banned Telegram in 2022, again in an attempt to censor allies of Bolsonaro.

And previously, being accused of censorship and undermining freedom of speech.
