Reds actually made a move and hired Terry Francona. Hope is back on the menu! Help a novice understand, so the wildcards are used to get into the playoffs? To which the final 2 challenge for the world series? Is that correct đ
I feel awful for asking. Also yeah the Astros are bad Basically, though they're still considered the playoffs. It used to be more like soccer/football where the winner of each 'league' (which are more like conferences now but used to be separate leagues at one point) was declared champion and then the World Series was the only playoff series. But then more teams were added over time and it transitioned to division champs met for the league pennants (conference finals). Then wildcard got added in the 90's for teams with the next best record outside of division winners, then two more later on in the 2010's for play-in games (a wildcard for wildcards, basically).

I love how the NL Final 4 shaped up. Itâs massive rivalries in each match up.
Padres vs Dodgers. Padres finally make the playoffs again after trading Soto and the fans âwe want LAâ chants are granted.
Mets vs Phillies. I mean, come on. This one is going to be awesome.
Plus the star power. Ohtani, Betts, Tatis, Machado, Bryce, Schwarber, Lindor and the legend Alonso.
I canât think of a better case scenario. I hope the series match up to the drama.
The American League looks like itâs the Yankees to lose. Not going to discredit Witt and the Royals, but that division doesnât scare me. Just have to make sure the Yankees donât choke.
Imagine we get a Padres/Yankees World Series after that offseason blockbuster trade that helped both teams? Shit, just give me Yankees vs any of the final 4 NL teams and itâs going to be a great World Series. Just anyone but the Tigers or Indians.

I enjoyed the KC Royals the other night, so I guess I'll be rooting for them in the post-season series. I'll call it that until I have a better understanding of the sport.
I see they're playing the Yankees? So yeah.. I'm rooting for a good team here.

I got no dog in the fight after Milwaukee blew it yesterday so I am hoping for a Yankees/Mets World Series for maximum chaos.

It's Detroit or bust for me.
No one else is really that likeable, sans the Royals, maybe. Brewers failing was cathartic, now I just need Cleveland to do what they do best and choke.

Starting Senga game 1 for NYM seems crazy given how much time he's missed, he came back for 1 start and got hurt again. Do they feel good he can give 3-4 innings out there or is this a psuedo bullpen game in disguise?

Every team to eliminate the Brewers from the playoffs has went on to make it to the World Series that post season. 9 teams altogether and 6 won it all. The Mets are the 10th team. Can they continue the streak?

Very exciting to have our #1 guy back though, what a week this has been.

I've been reading up on the A's, now formerly? Of Oakland. They're being uprooted to Vegas, but not yet? So...where are they going to be based.

I can't see Peterson coming in relief other than in the 8th/9th in an elimination game not any sooner otherwise he should just start the game.

Great start for the Mets.
First batter Senga faces hits a HR. All Schwarber does is hit lead off homers.

@admin ok I was wrong. I get that the Mets got 2 innings from Senga and was essentially used as an opener, but Peterson has been the Mets best pitcher he deserves to start the game.

2-1 makes this one pretty well out of reach for the low powered Royals.
I donât usually care about announcers, but Blindy is right about Costas. ZzzzâŠ

Melendez got a Yankee cheapie HR to give KC the lead back. Dude was awful for me in OOTP low average all power and nothing else. Nice C/OF ability for a 27 man roster spot but felt like a hyped prospect who never lived up to the billing.
If Yanks don't win this Cole game I'd be nervous for games 2 and 3 TBH.

What a clusterfuck that inning was for KC. Oof. Shocked they stuck with Zerpa after he walked Judge which was sort of why he was brought in for, no idea why you'd have someone struggling with control try and pitch to Wells. Wish NYY got more than 2 runs with the bases loaded 0 outs TBH.

I wish the Yanks prioritized a better defensive INF and hope they do this in the offseason. Torres will probably be gone so it starts with a 2B and I hope Volpe has a better year 3 defensively. Not sure if this means Chisholm will go to 2B and we sign a FA 3B.

Hate to say it but nobody fears Judge awful game so far.
Stanton cost the Yanks 2 runs arguably with not fully running, how can you run so bad at 34 years old?

Yanks got a gift with the Chisholm call at 2B and i'll take it. Ron Darling was a little bit much though with that, usually don't see an announcer really double down on something like that.

Weaver was really good, amazing how much he's transformed. He was a HR prone pitcher in Cincy and I guess he got fixed up good by the Yanks.

The Mets have been so much fun to watch. Epic comebacks. Getting a win in a game where Wheeler was on like that is priceless. The offence has been amazing in the final couple of innings for a week straight now, so many clutch hits.

It's embarrassing how much of a dog Severino was for the team that raised him where he could not get outs on the regular and was a decent reason why NYY missed the playoffs last year to now looking like a top 3 starter crosstown and looking great thus far in the postseason.
Give back to the team that took you fucker.
