The closer we get, the more I hope this has nothing to do with Punk. So many claiming 100% this will be the Punk footage not realizing that it is the Bucks promoting it and they are the top shitposters in all of wrestling.  Can't wait to see how many claim they were lied too when no one in AEW mentioned Punk.

Being universally disliked and being a quality shitposter are two different things.

All of the AEW haters already did their videos on how stupid Tony is to air the Punk fight too, without confirming that any Punk footage will air.

The more I see on this, the more I think that is the direction the Bucks are going, talking up the darkest day AEW ever seen, then shifting to them losing to FTR at All In, and losing the trilogy of matches for the titles.

Be a way to Bucks to hype their match, while having fun with the wrestling experts who routinely trash AEW knowing they will not be able to resist thinking they know everything about AEW and assuming this has to be about Punk.

How quickly the narrative changes.

At the beginning of this thread, you were talking very proudly about how butt-hurt Tony was due to Punk taking jabs at AEW during Wrestlemania weekend. And I quote... " Tony said, Fuck it "

Then it shifted to a dramatic retelling of events..

Now, it's a bait and switch.

Tony kind of gave it away this morning in his wording of what will be shown and why.  Did not stop the haters from all shitting on AEW for airing footage of the Punk fight that very likely is not airing.

Still think if people gonna talk about it, Tony should leak it and get it over with.

Two days ago it was “Punk’s comment about Ospeary is why Tony is releasing the Punk footage.” Now it’s “people are idiots for thinking he’s releasing the Punk footage.” Come on now.

That is what people were reporting two days ago. Most still are reporting that AEW is airing the Punk / Perry fight.  This morning people noticed the wording Tony used about the footage, and how he danced around the topic of what would be aired.  That is what changed.  People reported stories making shit up.

Not competing with night one was a good decision. Trying to capture the extra viewers from WrestleMania worked good and they picked up an extra 7,000 viewers versus the week before. It’s the same reason all these independent promotions run things WrestleMania weakened.. a lot of eyes on the business and they’re trying to lure a few of them to their product. Tony is starting to see that competing head to head with WWE is not beneficial and this is evidence.

Drawing anything really after midnight is a challenge. Really surprising that they drew more than last week in the later slot.

I think everyone is certain it'll be a bait and switch with the "backstage footage from All In", but the real problem with it is if Dynamite does over a million viewers for the episode, it'll prove that Punk, or the possibility of something with Punk, is what draws, not AEW itself. And if it doesn't, and they're under 800K again, it shows fans are burned out on AEW and crying wolf won't pull them in anymore.

I guess with all of the Observer awards AEW's won, they want to add the "Disgusting Promotional Tactic" award to their list.😂

For the pundit it does not matter what AEW they will shit on it tomorrow, like they did yesterday. They just want something to trash, and AEW being the second most popular fed is an easy target.

Well at this point I don’t think there’s a way to do it well. They pull it, fans will be disappointed. They air it, Punk is the baby face and he works for another company. They do something else, fans will be disappointed. How can this possibly work well? Even if it’s aired in full and Punk looks like a dick, what will it do? Everyone else involved is currently a heel. It’ll baby face them. It’s an absolute mess and it does reek of desperation.

If it is the Punk footage the one way it looks good is it is said Perry reversed his choke then Punk threw his tantrum. A path to use that to sort of show Perry is a tough guy. But it makes no sense with the comments that this will be used for a storyline involving the Bucks, even if Perry is brought back to into the Elite.

Which leads some to think, the footage is not of Punk at all, but a promo or something with the Bucks or FTR backstage that was not used. Which will piss so many off who are only watching for the Punk fight. But Bucks never said they were airing the Punk footage, wrestling journalists all did to clickbait their fans.

I suspect this will be the last time the Bucks do anything like this as there is no way out now without backlash. The new AEW fans do not remember the shitposting Bucks doing this shit regularly. And it really does not go with the EVP gimmick at all anyway.

Frankly, Tony should have straight out said in his interview this is not the Punk vs Perry fight being shown outright and killed the rumor if he is not planning to air it. If he wants the Russo ratings, he needs to prepare to get the Russo aftermatch, which will be people shitting all over this show.

That all said, I expect the main event to be well worth watching. Think Dustin does his own tribute to Dusty and does the Dusty blade job and bleeds buckets all over the ring. Joe is going to utterly destroy him I imagine. Edge vs Penta should also be a fun match. Sadly, all this other drama takes away from those.

But, here comes the biggest Wrestlecrap moment of the year. If it's Punk, what does it achieve? The Bucks don't walk away heroes - they're painful, spiteful little shits and there's very few who could convince the world otherwise. And this will further prove that point. Tony will come off looking like the entitled little weasel that he is who can't book his way out of a paper bag.. fuck it, run the Punk footage.

Punk, well he's almost universally loved by WWE fans, and the company itself is incredibly happy with how he has contributed since his debut. He laughs this off unless it's Punk getting KO'd by Perry. We already know, TK feared for his life, so it can't be exactly flattering footage for AEW. And most WWE fans will be like " Jack who? Young what? " that's if the casual and core fans pay attention at all.

If it's a skit. It's a pathetic attempt at trying to achieve some spotlight. If it's a bait & switch, well lol, it's worse.

Someday, TK will wake up from his afternoon nap and realise that The Bucks are a cancer. And all in all, this angle is just playing to AEW's base, or what's left of it. It does nothing for the brand, or grows or captures new fans.

I hope guys like Ricky Starks and MJF are watching how pathetic this all is, and asking themselves is this the company I want to work for?

Great to see all the reviews of the Dustin match already to go with the reviews of the Punk segment.

SRS is right, some people just are making their personalities to be obsessed with hating AEW. But this is also why all the whining is meaningless, given people make it clean that there is nothing AEW can do to please them, why should AEW try? The people complaining are not fans, or potential fans.  And this week more than even made that clear.

AEW has done it to itself.

The Rhodes booking highlights exactly what AEW is lacking. WWE spent 8-10 months building Cody as a viable contender prior to winning his first Royal Rumble, then the following 12 months building Cody as a megastar. It has taken WWE to new heights, and delivered the biggest Wrestlemania in history, and the biggest Main Event in history. It was an amazing moment built on long-term storytelling. Obviously initiated with The Bloodline angle 4 years ago. Character development, motive, meaning, emotion, engagement.

TK woke Dustin up from a likely Wrestlemania hangover and decided he was getting a title shot ( out of no where ) because his last name is Rhodes. It's meaningless, there's no investment in Dustin and no one cares. But if they'd spent a few months even, just a few short months building towards this moment, then maybe it wouldn't seem like they're hotspotting off the biggest match in Wrestlemania history.

Short term vs long term mindset.

AEW is not giving fans a reason to care.
