Ok weird as fuck but people saying Tony will air the Punk footage as the start of Perry's return program. But one of those people is Meltzer who is having a lot of senior citizen moments of late so who knows.

I can't wait to see whatever stupid shit this is likely to be.
Who wants to place a bet now that it goes down like led balloon in the ratings?

Pretty sure you are the last person to care about American television ratings at this point.

Sorry. Yeah, I forgot. My bad. Television ratings and attendance don't matter when they're terrible. Cool..
It will likely be some silly skit The Bucks put together in a moment of meta madness to pop the... you guessed it, the ratings, because they need something to get above 750k again, as the last two needle movers they hired did the opposite.
When something like 50,000 people tune out the moment Banks walks into frame, ratings should be everything they think about.

What human resource department said, “yeah, I think it’s a good idea to release CCTV footage of an incident involving workplace violence where we had to terminate an employee”?

What human resource department said, “yeah, I think it’s a good idea to release CCTV footage of an incident involving workplace violence where we had to terminate an employee”? One that apparantly isn't desperate enough for ratings they'd advertise it ahead of time.
Apparantly.

Until Punk did the wave of interviews people convinced Tony not to release the footage. Tony originally wanted to release it right away to avoid another Brawl Out situation where there were dueling stories but people told him to hold back. Now witht Punk trying to start a second story, and been taking shots at AEW and talent all weekend, Tony said fuck it, he will air it and let fans make up their minds who was wrong. Believed with this, Perry is also coming back.

What human resource department said, “yeah, I think it’s a good idea to release CCTV footage of an incident involving workplace violence where we had to terminate an employee”? I mean when Punk is basically saying that he calmly was talking to Perry while Perry was getting aggressive with him, it is either release the footage, or let Punk set the story that Tony allows the young guys to attack defenseless vets backstage and expects them not to defend themselves, then punishes them if they do. Tony already did this once witht Brawl Out, where Punk set the story that the the Elite violently broke down his and attacked him and Ace for no reason. Sure is this all bush league, yeah, but the only way this ends is to just air everything fuck out, and move on. Tony letting Punk be the one to talk to journalists, while his guys are not, and thus control the narrative just makes AEW look like shit. Think airing it on AEW is the wrong play though. Should have given the story to Dark Side of the Ring and had them do a Punk in AEW episode with AEW footage.

lol. Punk's comment didn't do it alone. Tony Khan sitting there all day watching Punk embraced and loved by the WWE and the fans did it. The man is on the kick off being adored by his peers, front and centre for the HOF and finally doing commentary tomorrow night.. It's quite literally..

Guys...guys...
They aren't going to release the footage of whatever happened with CM Punk. Not only does he no longer work for the company, he was fired over it, and there would be insane legal issues if they aired it on TV.
Why are we even talking about this? The Bucks are clearly fucking with us and it seems to be working really well.
It's going to be some bullshit comedy skit with a bunch of meta jokes like they always do. How are you falling for this?

The whole thing just feels cookie-gate all over again. Poor Copeland must be just tossing his arms up in the air after giving a rah rah speech.
Cookie-gate for those wondering what I'm on about.

Because all wrestling reporters are reporting confirmation of it. Like not just Meltzer saying it. I just hope the rumors are true that Luke Perry's son slipped out of a choke from a UFC fighter. There are no legal issues since this occured at show while Punk was under contract. Tony owns and is free to use all footage of Punk while he was under his employ. Punk is free to sue, but would be burning money and opening himself up to a countersuit for actions that occured that day.

I don't believe anything Meltzer says anymore. SRS is reporting it too and while he's always been a total goof, he usually gets his story straight before he reports anything. Have to give him that much. I still think it's bullshit and won't believe it until I see it, but for argument's sake, if they actually air this there are no positives to come from it and they'll look like total losers. Proving CM Punk was lying or embellishing his story won't change anything. Tribalism exists in all walks of life these days. Anyone trashing AEW now is still going to trash AEW after the footage airs.

I honestly imagined it would be the Bucks doing an overly dramatic reaction of the fight then debuting the Scapegoat as the newest member of the Elite. But sounds like Tony was pissed about all the shots Punk took this week and will just air the CCTV footage.

Now I am starting to think they are actually going to go through with it. Because if they don't, now CM Punk has even more ammo and can just be like "see? I told you. Fucking amateur hour over there." I don't even know what to say. If it's a skit, they look like unserious losers. If it's real footage, they look desperate and sad. Do I want to see it? Yeah, of course. But will it change my opinion of what happened? No. Tony still dropped the ball with the biggest return in wrestling history and CM Punk is still a massive hypocrite and a total asshole. Nothing has changed.

Also while everyone trashes this as a shit idea, you know everyone will be checking this out when it is plastered all over social media. People want to see it.
But three days until Dynamite, maybe someone can talk Tony out of it, and they do a Bucks skit instead.

:laughy: Dax is such a clown for this. Looks like it was deleted. What did he say now? Dustin ended up hiding the tweet. He's just posting support of his little brother, Dax didn't like seeing the competition get mentioned so he gave a friendly reminder to tweet in support of Collision(Which Dustin ended up doing).

The fact this is even in their play book speaks volumes about who they are. Not only are The Bucks a couple twats and Tony Khan an absolute dweeb, it does absolutely nothing to push their brand forward. The energy wasted is mindblowing, and for what? To pop the few people still on board with these jackasses? When you house is 3/4 quarters empty and your ratings in the toilet, you'd think your energy would be focused elsewhere, rather than acting like spiteful little geeks. Who's he talking to?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has there been an instance where Meltzer has been wildly off-base with anything involving the Elite? Typically you can take him at his word and I don't recall them using him to work the fans.
There was one example recently where it seemed like Dave was caught in the work...was it MJF?

May just be me, but I watch wrestling for the matches, not the crowd.
Something is up Dave I imagine healthwise. He is missing REALLY badly these days a lot, on shit that reddit can confirm in minutes. Like yesterday he claimed there were no resale tickets for WM under 1800, and fans posted pages of them for 150 within minutes. He said Perch only sold a few hundreds not too long along because he misread a page and the arena was a 1/3rd full right after sales opened. His head is somewhere else these days.

A) without a crowd, there are no matches. B) it's now a lot easier to prove people either right or wrong, instead of just taking their word for it. Which people have done for decades. The internet is easy. And Big Dave is coming undone because it's easy to just google it to confirm the truth of the matter. It happens here too... like, every day.

The thing that annoys me is that you had an opportunity to put CM Punk and The Elite in a program that would have drawn money and led to quality TV but pride got in the way. In the end it was the fans who missed out and this whole bit they're doing now is just pathetic.
At this point, I'd be fine if the Bucks were just glorified managers and used their spot to prop up Okada.

Best matches I ever seen were in front in crowds in the low hundreds. So no I do not watch for the crowd. Nor are large crowd needed for the best in ring product.
///
I imagine the Bucks will be working less and less as time goes on. They planned to really start to scale down wrestling this year or next they said in prior interviews. They are great for on air authority figures too, and managers.

Thinking about timing of things, Tony does need to write Cash off TV for several months. Wonder if this all leads to Perry being the one to do it during the match they have coming up with the Bucks.
30 days now till the pre-trial hearing of the Cash trial, then May 20th it starts. Jury trial IIRC so will be a week or so. Real chance he serves time too, about a third of people convicted serve time in county or state prison based on 2023 data.
