As for what you missed, Joe vs Dustin was going to kick off the show, but Swerve attacked Joe and put him through a table. They called the match off and Joe staggered to the back. They're selling a head injury and pivoted to the TNT title match, but they keep talking about the Eliminator match so I assume they will close the show with it and Dustin will win since Joe is hurt.

Penta has a rainbow of attires. Most are meaningless. One is for Penta Oscuro, his super dark side.

WWE spent 8-10 months building Cody as a viable contender prior to winning his first Royal Rumble, then the following 12 months building Cody as a megastar. It has taken WWE to new heights, and delivered the biggest Wrestlemania in history, and the biggest Main Event in history. It was an amazing moment built on long-term storytelling. Obviously initiated with The Bloodline angle 4 years ago. Character development, motive, meaning, emotion, engagement.

TK woke Dustin up from a likely Wrestlemania hangover and decided he was getting a title shot ( out of no where ) because his last name is Rhodes. It's meaningless, there's no investment in Dustin and no one cares. But if they'd spent a few months even, just a few short months building towards this moment, then maybe it wouldn't seem like they're hotspotting off the biggest match in Wrestlemania history.

Short term vs long term mindset.

AEW is not giving fans a reason to care.

Dustin has been on a winning streak and been built on Rampage & Collision for weeks. They announced this match over the weekend. He's been talking about his "one last run" for a while now.

I don't disagree with you entirely though. AEW has lost its way in that regard. Building Hangman Page like they did was incredible, and while I know they aren't going to do that all the time, they haven't even tried since. The only thing I can compare to it that they are still currently booking is Athena, but nobody watches ROH so it doesn't matter.

At the same time though, you can't really compare what happened on Sunday to most things AEW or WWE have done for that matter. That is what made it so special. You will rarely get years of build and an underdog leaving the company to start his own, etc etc etc. I think if you are comparing Dustin Rhodes randomly receiving a match to earn a title shot against Cody's win on Sunday you could literally compare almost anything in history to Cody's win and have the same result.
