Just yesterday I did a search for the weirdest books ever written and discovered an entire novel that consists of one long, run on sentence and now I want to read it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_Lessons_for_the_Advanced_in_AgeWelcome back WMS . You should stick around. Fan fic needs you. PW needs you. Rather than starting work on my fan fic draft card tonight I'm being lazy and thinking about my favorite characters to write for. We all have our pet characters. Who are yours? Narrowing it down 10ish I've got.... Lana Star (and Patti Pizzazz)- Greatest double act in Bakerdom and I've had a lot of great double acts Goldust Mr. Bob Backlund Dean Douglas Owen Hart Paul "Romeo" Roma "Mallrat" Erik Watts Larry Zbyszko New Breed New Rockers And standing above all is the man, the myth, the legend, "Mr. Intellivision" himself, George Plimpton. EDIT: Lord Steven Regal, "Blueblood" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, 16th Century Portuguese Explorer Aldo Montoya, and "Identity Crisis" Sean Waltman belong on the list too. *sigh* It's no wonder the bulk of my shows turn into energy sapping walls of text that put me off writing a follow up show for months. I like too many of my characters. Maybe I should start writing a modern fed instead.... EDIT 2.0: Ludvig Borga and his Foreign Fanatics need some love too.

Lana Star (and Patti Pizzazz) Goldust Mr. Interesting topic. I’d say my top 2 are Kane and Stevie Richards. I wish I still had my original NEW thread saved because there was some fun stuff in there. Kane was the demonic monster he was always meant to be and just teared shit up. He was the inaugural NEW Champion because he essentially just walked out and killed everyone. Wrote a pretty good angle of Edge being the babyface that had to overcome the monster. Stevie Richards was the hard-working veteran that was finally owed his due. After months and months of clawing through the mid-card he earned one shot at the NEW Championship against John Cena. He lost, but it was like the ending of Rocky. Or I tried to make it seem that way. Speaking of Cena I wrote him as an ex-convict. The backstory for my fed was that he was caught with cocaine after a car accident and being the only thing keeping the WWE afloat at the time, the lawsuit and damages were catastrophic. So Shane McMahon cut ties and started his own company...then signed Cena when he got out of jail. Man that was a fun project. I re-invented Shelton Benjamin too and he became “The Moneymaker” Shelton Benjamin. Paired him with Christy Hemme as his valet and he was like Floyd Mayweather and Matt Riddle had a baby. He ruled the mid-card for the first bit. Wrote an angle similar to The Straight Edge Society where CM Punk starts to mentor a down-on-his-luck Paul London. Eventually they’re joined by The Motor City Machine Guns and become The Originators. Fuck all my best examples are from that fed.

My favorite characters to write are HBK, Orton, Jericho and Angle. I can do so much with their in-ring work and it’s a blast writing their matches.

You know who I find hard to write for?
Stone Cold. Hulk Hogan. I don’t know why. Their matches aren’t exciting to write. Their promos are pretty limited, as crazy as that sounds since both were amazing on the microphone. It’s just hard to get too creative with them.

I wish I still had my original NEW thread saved because there was some fun stuff in there. Fuck all my best examples are from that fed. I hear ya. I miss all three of my old PW feds. As I've told poor 🤯 many times, I think my New Generation Wrestling fed is the best thing I ever did on either version of PW. That fed was wild. I'll admit it wasn't for everybody (anybody?) though  My mid 90s WWF project is only a hair behind NGW in greatness. It was also far more accessible. I'll have to get back to that soon if for no other reason than to humor PI. As for characters I struggle with.... I can't book Taz long term. He also doesn't match up well with many people. I love Taz, but this is why I've never drafted, or built a fed around the guy. Papa Shango was easily my most disappointing character. I figured everybody's favorite wrestling voodoo priest would be right up my alley and I'd just go crazy with Papa Shango stuff. Wrong. Turned out to be a bunch of half baked cringe....and for some reason I paired him up with Jean Pierre Lafitte. That was not my finest moment. I struggle with top babyfaces in general. Bret & Diesel were soooo boring to write for. I worked around it by focusing on their far more interesting opponents. It worked well enough. And I did manage to make Shawn Michaels work by going so over the top it became a very intentional parody of real life mid 90s Shawn Michaels.

I’m currently trying to write Papa Shango. I’ve expanded upon his voodoo powers and given him a cast of characters to be the mouthpiece for, in addition to being the top star of his stable. It all involves this white hand curse (yep, stole that right out of LotR). Basically a different kind of finisher that doesn’t just end the match but changes the opponent long term. He grabs his opponent by the face and picks them up and slams them like a choke slam and picks them while gripping their face. While down, he curses them. They suddenly lose self control and are now part of his Undead Army. They wear a white painted hand on their face where he grabbed them. So far I’ve constructed a team of Kamala, Tatanka, and Samu. Shango claims that natives make the best converts because of their warrior spirit. They feud with the Undertaker for a while but eventually Shango takes over his body as well. The rest of the team become background noise to Papa Shango in control of the Phenom. The mind control overtakes Shango eventually and he slips losing Undertaker who is now out for blood. Looked like a blowoff match at WrestleMania X where Taker attempts to free the guys who are still trapped under his curse and bury Shango once and for all.

I generally struggle writing anyone that “being a good wrestler” and “having a desire to win” is their gimmick. Guys like Bret Hart and Daniel Bryan come to mind immediately. I mean, they are super fun to write in matches but their characters just bore me to death. I’m always tempted to let them lose at the end of the feud because their opponents are generally way more exciting than them. I can write and book heels all day long. But a fighting good guy Champion without a gimmick? Yeah.. that’s just not my thing. After they rise up and finally get the title they’ve been pursuing, my general feeling always ends up.. who cares now? Put the title on someone I actually want to see now. Case in point, Bryan after WMXXX and Bret after WMX.

Case in point, Bryan after WMXXX and Bret after WMX. Who did you want to see the title on instead after WMX and WMXXX? Owen and Brock? Owen would have made most sense. He at least was a fun character. I even think all signs pointed to him. I feel like babyface characters do best when chasing the title. Since WrestleMania is the culmination so often of a babyface chasing the title, it’s also sort of the end of that good story. Bob Backlund was the wrong person. Even WWF knew that because they had him drop it to Diesel. Even Diesel wasn’t ready for that kind of run. Owen would have been fun. Nothing else was. I don’t remember much from Michaels in 1994, but he would have been my second option (was he hurt?) .. but only as a heel. Something for Hart to chase after while they worked on Diesel’s character and persona. As for WMXXX.. Triple H. Continue Bryan’s feud with the authority. Or Lesnar. I always thought Lesnar/Bryan would have been the ultimate match during this time period.

I always had my favourite characters to write. Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Austin Aries and Alex Shelley the standouts. I used to push them beyond belief in any and everything I wrote in FF. It always felt nicer to give the rub and push to wrestlers I felt were underappreciated and underused in real life - got more of a kick out of writing for those guys than those who had already achieved main event superstardom in real life.

Don’t know if @am @alyonmac still posts here or not, but I just saw on Facebook that he worked a promo with RIC FLAIR tonight.
The pictures are awesome. He has the biggest, dumbest grin on his face.
In case you’re out of the loop, AM is a manager for some talent in an indie fed in Iowa. He also does announcing. He’s living the dream. And it seems like he does a pretty good job. He’s like a cross between Paul Heyman and Jim Cornette.

Hey yo. Been a long, long time since I've contributed ANYTHING worthwhile to Fan Fic, whether it be here or the old boards. Been through A LOT in the last few years, so much so that I don't know really to begin... and I don't know if anyone really gives a damn either. But screw it, let's catch up shall we? Joined FF in 2005, when I was 14 years old, a few years into high school, at a pretty low point in my life. Constantly bullied, my home life wasn't great with constant arguments with my Mum and struggling to come to terms with my Dad being remarried to my witch of a Step-Mum... but you guys provided a great form of escapism for me as a teenager. I would jump on here, engage with all of you, read the feds and try my hand at writing my own. I honestly only had real success with two of those, the first being my Mortal Kombat fic (this was when MK: Deception had recently released... we're now onto MK 11 and yes, I'm still a fan!), and WWE: Legacy with the incredibly talented PB. Dude had the patience of a saint, how he put up with my constant changes to existing plans I will never know, but I'm so proud of what we wrote during that time in 2009/2010, but unfortunately work and real life got in the way of continuing the project. Heck, I remember being moderator here for a short spell which was a huge honor but I screwed that up by not realistically managing expectations with what you guys had come to expect from a mod, and to WMS who was my co-mod who took a lot of flack on my behalf. Not being able to make time for Fan Fic pretty much became a trend for any new project I tried after WWE: Legacy. I'd get amped up to write, but work or a social life would pull me away from Fan Fic. I had my ups and downs as any young adult does trying to transition from school to becoming an adult, and it was real rough for a few years. Heck, even up until recently you'll see on my post history that I mention about being in debt in 2017. Spent more money than I earned, borrowed money, got credit cards... I enjoyed life don't get me wrong, but I wracked up debt upon debt living that life, not the smartest of choices but it made me the person I am today. But yeah, a lot of 2010-2016 is a pretty big blur for me - I had a lot of fun times partying and spending time with friends and whatnot, but I went off the rails for a little while, plus I barely visited Fan Fic as a result. I'm fairly certain had I still been on MSN Messenger (jeez, that takes me back!) and guys like WMS, Holzhammer and the sort saw how much of a tailspin I was in, they probably would have told me to seek help - my friends IRL certainly did (eventually!) and I managed to get my shit together. I moved out of my Mum's in 2016 with a close friend who had bought his own place, a sweet three-bedroom house. Living with him helped me grow up so damn quick, I can't even begin to tell you; it also coincided with me finding the love of my life, Arianne. September 2016 we started dating, and there were ups and downs there too as always in navigating a new relationship. Arianne was severely abused by her ex-boyfriend both physically and mentally, which meant her learning to trust me was super, super difficult in the beginning. When we'd get into huge shouting matches 6 months, a year, even a year and half into our relationship, a lot of times I just wanted to cut and run (just like all the feds I used to bail on! ), but I couldn't. I loved her too much to leave, we'd been through too much together. Her parents graciously allowed me to move into theirs in September 2018 to help us save quicker to afford to buy a place of our own... and in December 2018 (Christmas Eve to be exact!), I popped the question! She said yes! (Also, notice the t-shirt I'm wearing... DRINK IT IN MAAAAAAAANNN! ) Since then, we've just been saving our arses off to buy a place to call our own, which is easier said than done. We're both on pretty good earnings (I still work at the local Council in Customer Services, but rack up a load of piss-easy overtime each month, plus I'm able to work from home 3 days a week which is a huge blessing - Arianne is a carer, looking after adults with mental and physical disabilities), but the market is just super expensive at the moment in the area we live. We've looked into moving slightly further out, but the travel costs and whatnot, not to mention being away from family and friends would just suck. Time shall tell! Arianne recently took the super brave step to shave all her off - she's suffered with alopecia all her life, and just woke up one morning and told me "It's going. All of it. I'm going to shave it off, take back control." and that was that. With or without hair, she's still perfect to me. Man, this has been awesome to share. I saw you beautiful bastards as friends when I wasn't lucky enough to have many in real life years ago, and whilst I've been absent for a good while, it feels real nice to be back. I promise to not be a stranger; I'm still super passionate about writing and wrestling, so what better place to be then Fan Fic? Now if you excuse me, I'm going scroll through this entire thread to catch up on what I've missed... and vote in the FF Draft! Much love to you all! - Will

If we all went around and made a list of favorite FF’ers of all time.. surely Will would have to be on my list. So glad to see how your life has turned out man.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome back. Felt great to be able to share with you guys, and it's wonderful to see everyone here is still as awesome as they've always been. Great to see how things have turned out for you too KING KID , super proud of you too. @ness , I absolutely now wanna' photoshop that photo of us to have her pulling a Kevin Nash-style 4 Horsemen pose ala his Arn Anderson impersonation! jTjohncenaGOAT , pleasure as always my friend, I've got you as a friend on Facebook and it's always great to see how positive you are; I fondly remember our MSN chats back in the day, and aPw was the first fed I really marked out over - such fantastic memories. 🤯 , great to see you still around man, I remember you encouraging me to get AIM back in the day, literally only used it a handful of times to shoot some ideas your way and your advice was always excellent - really cool reading up in the Fed Thread how you still manage to help others troubleshoot even today. Figured I'd share this with you, how I proposed - basically, I did the old-school thing and asked her Dad for his blessing ahead of time which he gave 100%. I let Arianne's Mum and her brother know ahead of time so they were prepared and set up the scenario for me; it was my first Christmas under their roof and I knew that they were really big on playing board games or games of some kind on Christmas Eve (a family tradition, if you will) - so I bought a game called Hearing Things, told her brother to film under the guise of "posting it on FB later" as a family bonding deal, and... well, this was the result. Needless to say, she had no idea and was totally caught off guard. I'd hoped it would take a while of her guessing and maybe that penny-drop moment where she realises what I'm saying and puts two and two together... but no. I didn't count on the fact that because Arianne has had slight hearing problems all her life, she is a master of lip-reading... so she got it first time, and was more interested in the fact that she had won the round rather than I was subtly proposing to her. You live and learn, eh?! Still going through this thread catching up on all the happenings. Will be voting in the Draft later this evening, looking forward to reading the cards that have been put together!

Great to have you on board WP! We came two years too late to the party, but it's nice to be fashionably late! Those MSN Messenger days were a blast, and I enjoyed modding with you - I was always gonna have your back, you were like a Fan Fic brother to me, and I always felt I got your spot at the time when I was modded at such a young age. Awesome just to see how well you're doing for yourself, I've got you on social media so I was already aware just how much you're rocking life - it's a pleasure to see. Fan Fic Stag? Still need to meet up with you for that drink some time - we promised so many years ago, but, alas time just flies.

PB , it's great to be back man, and wicked to see you still knocking around here! Hope you're keeping well my friend; I can hardly believe it's been a decade since we wrote WWE: Legacy - what happened to those ten years?! Great to have you on board WP ! Still need to meet up with you for that drink some time - we promised so many years ago, but, alas time just flies. Ah WMS, reunited again old buddy! Haha fashionably late indeed, we wouldn't have it any other way would we? I'll be honest, the whole modding experience is a bit of a blur, I remember it ending on a super sour note (this was around the time I was starting to get kinda' fucked up in all kind of ways IRL), but I seem to remember a challenge type thing we created along with jTjohncenaGOAT , maybe called WarZone? Regardless, proud I was even put in that position in the first place. Aha mate, you're rocking life too with all these incredible adventures abroad and whatnot, I envy you man, Vegas looked incredible! A Fan Fic stag would be insane I seem to remember a lot of you guys meeting up a few years back, possible for a 'Mania, was a shame I couldn't get out of work commitments at the time despite booking the coach and whatnot ahead of time, but alas, wasn't to be. Absolutely mate, we have to make it a reality one time - I know you frequent London every so often for football shenanigans, but one of these days we'll defo chop it up over a few beers and Jagers! Welcome back everyone! I missed you both WMS and WP , congrats on the engagement! Thank you very much System, appreciated dude! I vividly remember us trying a split one time which, surprise surprise, went nowhere cos I bottled it. I remember your fed too with Travis Touchdown, but the name of it escapes me - was a blast reading that's for sure!

I met Kemis in person thanks to one of Brezzy’s terrific Mania parties back in the day, we got drunk on Jagermeister and had a great time. He was a genuine guy, nice chap in person. I hadn’t spoke to him the last couple years, but I’ll always fondly remember that weekend in March 2013 down in Southampton and all the interactions on PW in Fan Fic and The Beautiful Game sub-forums. As documented, Kem had his personal troubles and had tried to take his life on occasions. I hope he’s now at peace, but I wish he was still with us. Still posting. Rest in Power, Peter. I’m sorry you’re gone, mate x
