Probably the most boring convo starter there is, an old man that always comes into my work started to make see the value in it. Not everyone follows sports and discussing water cooler topics can get heated if you’re not sure if you’re audience. So whenever I see him talk to New people he brings up the weather and it’s a topic everyone can relate to. Anyway said guy tells me about the weather every time I see him, not just “it’s going to be cold tomorrow” I get wind directions, temperatures in detail. I almost thought he might have been a meteorologist before he retired but he worked in a Saw mill. He told me once it in 2015 was going to absolutely pour down rain in a ridiculous fashion. Next day this is my workplace ^ this is a car park. So whenever he gives me a forecast I believe it 😂. What not might be a boring topic on PW though is how is the weather in your area? It’s currently 7 degrees (44.6 f) here, took this pic after the gym. Doesn’t feel that cold though. Kinda Looks like Silent Hill 😂

I don't get asked that question often because the weather almost never changes.
Anything under 60 degrees (15 C) is bitterly cold and anything over 85 (30) is almost unheard of.
But the downside of this is that climate change is hitting us particularly hard; we expected to only have maybe 2-3 SUPER hot days a year so most homes and apartments don't have air conditioning units. More than a couple of inches of rain and certain roadways and overpasses start flooding; the sewage system can't handle it. We didn't design this city to withstand more than the infrequent light weather pattern.

It is 13C today but it did not feel like it. It's been raining for 2 days which we sorely needed. However, the wind was so strong I had a hard time keeping my car on the road. I don't mind the cooler, rainy weather but I could do without the gale force winds.

I swear this is the hottest summer I’ve experienced living in NSW. On holidays so I’ve spent most of my time at the beach or at the movies/shopping centres just to get out of it.
Meant to be 37 Friday, 41 Saturday and 39 Sunday 😞,
I lived in NT for two summers where it was about 45 degrees (113f) everyday but everywhere had air con blasting 24/7 so was easy enough to escape.

Weather has fucked us here.
Winter bullshit in Boston area got our flight home from Vegas on Sunday straight up cancelled. We got onto a red eye flight that was supposed to depart today at 9pm. Latest notification says it's delayed until 5am tomorrow.
We said fuck it, hunkered down at a hotel for tonight and tomorrow night, and will try to get out in the morning on Wednesday. We've got zero faith this delayed 9pm flight won't end up either cancelled or departing until Wednesday anyway. Figure there are worse places to be stuck than Vegas. Only downsides are cost, and I'm going to eat up all my PTO for work for 2019 (including rollover from last year) in the first month of the year.
Apparently Boston only has one operating runway. Always blows my mind that places with known-to-be rough winters can't get their shit together by now for said rough winters. Also hates that I can't blame force majeure events on anyone or claim reimbursement from the airline.
At least we're missing out on the -25 wind chill back home.
Bah! Never should've left Pittsburgh...

It's 40 Celsius today(104f) in the shade. It was up some where around the 45 last week, and looks to be back there by weeks end.
I can't remember when it rained last, it's dry as hell. It's not as hot as it was about 10 years ago, when it literally didn't rain a drop for 6 months when the Millennium drought was in full swing. It can't be far off, and word is, we're in for another one, or already in it.

I don’t know why they don’t do something similar to this, rather than throw money at farmers every decade instead of addressing the cause in the first place. I know it would be super expensive, but also a worthy investment IMO. Then again with how the NBN roll out went..😒 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Man-Made_River

I tried to go to Chickfila in the morning yesterday, but it was 1*F, so I said nope. It did warm up to 13 later in the day for when I saw Glass. Snow sucks.

Want to swap? I’ve only seen snow once in my life and I was 4 years old, I’m sure it loses its majestic nature once you experience it every winter though.

Fun to visit but you wouldn't wanna live there. Also snow is awesome as a kid but dealing with it as an adult sucks. Confirmed. As a kid, snow gets you out of school and gives you something to play in. As an adult, snow is something you have to clear and then contend with while still having to get in to work somehow. I'd be interested in swapping, especially since I love hot weather, but I hesitate because Celsius degrees still confuse the fuck outta me.

Currently here In Winnipeg it's about -19C with the windchill. We just got over about a week long cold snap where it was around -40C with the windchill for several days...

Weather is all over the place here. One day it's -20C then next it's -1C. Then back to -20C and then 0C.
Plants and bugs have no idea what to do. One week a month ago we had a bunch of flies which died the next week because it was too cold. I found a lady bug in my house the other day. It's almost the end of January. Ques que fuck?

About to enter a 2 day period where the temperature probably won't drop below 25 degrees even in the middle of the night and is likely to be 45 That’s the thing I hate most about Summer in Australia. It’s nice to go to the beach on hot days etc, but trying to sleep at night when it’s still hot is the worst.

It’s been cold, though supposed to get colder, something like -13 F later this week which is as cold as it really ever gets here. We’re in the middle of our third snowstorm in five days, each one adding three-six inches which sucks for my 50 mile commute because about thirty of those are on roads that just aren’t important enough to get the treatment they should and my driving tendency has become ultra cautious since i wrapped my car around a tree a few winters back.
Anyway, the weather has been crummy for me. It could probably be worse, and I wouldn’t complain nearly as much if it weren’t for the drive.

Further proof commutes are probably the worst thing about jobs. I could probably tolerate a lot shittier and even worse paying job if all I had to do was roll out of bed and cross the street. Or maybe even not even cross the street at all. Really should look into feasible remote gigs...

I'm a winter person who generally likes the cold but the past few days were too much even for me. Monday morning was 13 degrees (-10.5 C) and Tuesday 15 degrees when I went to work at 4:30 a.m. Monday peaked at 19 F (-7 C) in the afternoon while Tuesday got all the way up to 28 (-2 C). The wind chill was around 0 F both days. That's what gets me. The wind.
It's much warmer today. Going to get up to a whopping 45 F (7 C). It feels like summer outside compared to the past few days. Now where'd I put my shorts...
I still like snow even as an adult. I find it peaceful. Hate driving in it though. The worst when I was worked for the post office. Those damn postal trucks had no traction in the snow. I'd slide all over the place. Including once into somebody's mailbox. Whoops. I assume the PO paid to fix it. They also sent me to a one day driving class. I was not amused. I rarely was at the PO. It was the worst of the many, many jobs I have had. Do not recommend.

I'd rather be too cold any day then too hot. You can only take off so many layers.

I avoid most of the daytime heat in the air con at work but I'm not looking forward to tonight where the overnight low is like 29. Not going to be getting much sleep.

I agree, I work for myself, so I am at our office right now with the air conditioner cranking and my shorts on.

Do most of you Aussie's have cnetral air or an air con unit in your homes?
I have a unit for my bedroom because if I don't get sleep I am not my usual delightful self.

Do most of you Aussie's have cnetral air or an air con unit in your homes? Most people will have at least one room that is air conditioned. Split System Air Conditioners seem the most popular these days, we have two of them down stairs. They're really quiet and do a pretty good job for the cost of around $1.5 - $2k per unit. Central air con that's ducted is around 12-18k which is a huge chunk of change. I am also not looking forward to our next electricity bill.

I'm surprise the shorts are staying on tbh Incy.
I've got a split system in my living room but I would get more use out of it in the bedroom. Unfortunately as has already been mentioned, this shit all costs money.

Lately it’s been sunny but in the mid 60s, which I like because I enjoy the nice, cool wind breeze that comes with it. Before this current climate we had some rain storms that we were in dire need of.

C F My place only has air con in the kitchen (🤷🏻♀️) and it doesn’t work that well anyway. So I have the ceiling fan and two other fans going on other side of me on really hot days 😂. Glad Monday isn’t too bad as I’m having a party for the Royal Rumble (Time difference) and I doubt anyone wants to be at my place with no air con on a 40 degree day.
