I had a tough time with ranking D-Von or if I should rank him. Ultimately he fell off my list , which I tried to base off both enjoyment of the wrestler and what heights their former partner went onto. I ended up deciding that I'm not sure Bubba really raised the game to new heights , I know people enjoyed Bully Ray in TNA but I didn't really consider that enough of an impact (no pun intended) to qualify him , also because I never particularly cared for D-Von either way as part of a team and certainly not in the terrible Reverend gimmick.
I guess his one big argument and claim to fame as a singles guy is he was the launching pad for Batista to come into the WWE and that is certainly something.

0-1
As a team or singles I always viewed Buh Buh and Devon as equals.

D-Von was my #9.
Bully Ray was a great reinvention of Bubba, solidified him as a singles act, and he checked the technicality box by winning a world title. All while poor D-Von did absolutely nothing... Despite being arguably equally talented and charismatic.
While I hated it in real time, I've grown to appreciate the attempt at Reverend D-Von in hindsight.

I also had D-Von at #9.
Before the two most famous Dudleys joined forces I was Team D-Von all the way. He had what we would come to know as the Dudley attitude from day one back when Buh Buh was still a buffoon who had go away heat with me.
But I feel like Bubba became the Shawn to D-Von's Jannetty even in ECW. Bubba delivered the lengthier monologues while D-Von would just chime in with the catchphrases and occasionally tell people to suck his dick. Bubba also got the glory on most of their moves. It was always Bubba hitting the Cutter part of the 3D and those top rope Powerbombs.
Bubba's 2002 singles run was nothing special outside of a vaguely remembered cool one show angle where he challenged Triple H for the title but I'll still take that mediocre run over the awful Reverend D-Von stuff every day of the week. Bubba's awesome run as Bully Ray in TNA seals the deal. Without that D-Von probably doesn't make my list. Bubba is also still going today while D-Von hung up the boots a few years back.
From a fan standpoint I love D-Von. I just love Bubba even more. Tune into my 200 Favorite Wrestlers countdown to see where both guys wind up! *cheap plug*

I think Joey Mercury is the perfect case of having the Marty Jannetty disease from the start. You could always tell looking at these two that Morrison was meant to be and going to be the breakout singles star and Mercury's future was going to be in jeopardy.
I think when he did come back though he did find a decent little niche and had a much better look with the shaved head. The Straight Edge Society stuff was fine but I thought he and Noble did an awesome job as the new version of the stooges for The Authority. That's his ceiling though and that's why he belongs on this list.
Also his claim to fame is that ladder match where his face got mangled. One of the most brutal images I can remember seeing.

Interesting as I can see his tag partner making the list thanks to Miz. Though a solid post wwe career may save him.

Joey was my #8.
Funnily enough, I debated putting Christian York on my list too... But then remembered my world title criteria.
After being Jannetty's by Morrison, Mercury Jannetty'd himself further with his Jamie Noble tag team seeing as Noble is technically a world champ too.
Poor Joey.
MJ to JM.

D-Von came in at #7 for me. Reverend D-Von wasn’t too bad of a gimmick, and he showed that he could work alright as a lower card guy, but I remember watching him on his own and just counting down the days until the Dudleyz reunited.

I'm with UT again on this one. Mercury was the clear Jannetty of MNM from day one. Kilgore has mentioned how Tom Zenk was born to be the Jannetty of a tag team. Joey Mercury is that guy for me. He was competent at every aspect of pro wrestling without excelling at any one thing. Fwiw I also thought he was the Jannetty of York & Matthews back when they were an active team. A part of me still thinks WWE picked up the wrong guy. Morrison > York > Mercury in my book.
Thought I had Mercury at #5 or #6. Turns out I had him at #8. Well, there's a huuuuuge gap between him and D-Von at #9.

If Joey Mercury is the most obvious Marty Jannetty , Christian is easily the most overqualified - to the point where I couldn't include him on my list. He obviously didn't go onto the success Edge did but he still carved himself out a Hall of Fame career.
I never quite seen the same thing in Christian as everyone else did. I thought he was a really good worker but lacked something to be the star everyone seemed to see in him. I didn't hate his run but none of it felt... right. Top tier IC champion was his ceiling to me. Or the ECW stuff worked out well.

Loved >C< so much. I can sorta see why he was never used as a true main eventer. Dude always looked sharp in street gear but his gear never flattered him. Just didn't have a good look. He could obviously run with the ball given his tna and ecw runs.
Jannetty is debatable considering what he did despite Vince thinking he's ugly (supposedly).

I hated the Christian hype and love. I never saw what was so special about him. Ever. Even when it was E&C, he was always the bum of the group to me. His main event push was so boring for me in my peak watching days too. I had him on my list, but not as high because he did have a good career.
Edit- I lied. I had him 4. Go me.
Double edit- I just saw the list I put in and I wrote “Johnny Mercury” Lmao. His irrelevant ass.

The more I thought about Christian the more he worked his way off my list. Was never a big fan of his. His first run in the WWE he was Jannetty, but he seemed to do well with a change of scenery in TNA. Injuries seemed to be a problem his 2nd WWE run and I wont hold that against him.

I don't think Christian qualified for my list considering he won a world title in TNA and also sorta technically the ECW title and carried that brand to its end.
For the record, I think Christian is better than Edge and take Christian (especially peak 2004-2005 Christian) over pretty much every iteration of Edge at least 9 times out of 10.

I'm once again with UT & 🤯 on this one. Christian was technically the Jannetty of his most famous team. Of that there can be no doubt. But he had perhaps the best career of any Jannetty. He won a legit world title and two borderline world titles. Meaning I deemed him too good to be a true Jannetty. Did not make my list and probably wouldn't even have made a Top 20. He's overqualified for Jannettydom. Fwiw I saw Edge as the Shawn to Christian's Marty when they were teaming. And I liked Edge a wee bit better (probably because I saw him as the bigger star). Post-E&C both guys ran hot and cold for me but Christian had higher highs and lower lows in my book. To put it another way, Christian eeked out Edge on my 200 List.

I remember Edge and Christian discussing being the Jannetty of the team in like 2000ish (although they weren't calling it the Jannetty). It was early in their run as a tag team and this when the WWF did kayfabe breaking stuff on other shows all the time. Anyway, Christian was like, "Clearly it's me." And then Edge being a good friend was like, "Well, maybe at first, but now that we're talking, you're better at that than me, so I think it's me now." That seems right. The WWF were obviously Edge fans from day one and always had big plans for him, so he was always going to be the Michaels if he ended up in a tag team, but when E&C first started becoming goofballs as a tag team, Christian was way better at it. He also took all the big bumps in the big car crash matches. So, there was a brief moment where you could talk yourself into Christian maybe doing the impossible and surpassing Edge, but it never worked out that way, and was never meant to. So, yeah, maybe the best Jannetty ever?

Christian is a silly addition to this list. I wouldn’t include him in a top 25.
He won two world titles and defied the odds by flourishing as a singles competitor when nobody expected him to.
Whether you liked him or not, he doesn’t meet the qualifications at all. I knew he’d be in this top ten and anyone that voted for him is just plain wrong.

I loved Charlie Haas , I thought he was awesome and get that he might have not had the huge "it" factor or the flashy style of Benjamin but he was a ton of fun and his run he went through impersonating everyone was fucking awesome and one of the most overlooked things to happen during that era. It cracked me up every time. #7 might be about right for him considering Shelton never went on to reach his potential as the breakout star but it was clear that's who the WWE wanted to push the whole time. I wonder what Haas could have done had he received the same the kind of support and booking.

Since Shelton never amounted to much as a singles wrestler, and especially because he never went on to win a world title (as far as I'm aware), he didn't qualify for my list.

See I didn’t put that parameter on and focused more on the push coming out of the team and there was no doubt the WWE wanted Shelton to break out.

Shelton was arguably a flop you can't deny they tried. A few wins over HHH (lol it autocorrect to ugh kinda fitting) even if one was a countout and the other was a "rollup don't count" victory alone puts Haas as the Marty. Then you got all their other failed attempts.
Haas is a Jannetty in all ways. Well except Marty has won the ic title and this was before it was a joke...
