Very worthy #1. The Anvil epitomized every criteria that makes a Jannetty while still being absolutely awesome.

1. Christian Matt Hardy John Morrison Mark Briscoe Rick Steiner Robert Gibson Marty Jannetty Jerry Sags Jim Neidhart 10. Chris Harris
One element of being a Jannetty is that at one point in time, you had to be considered the bigger 'star'. Harris in America's Most Wanted was genuinely considered the best worker between him and Storm and when he was signed to the WWE, he was supposed to be one of the big break-out stars of 2008. Except he showed up out of shape and became a meme from the moment he got saddled with the name Brandon Walker. I think his most memorable moment was a backstage promo with the proprierter of Mattitude.
Where did we rank the Hart Foundation? Were they number one? Neidhart was used so effectively in that team, he had a great hot tag and him and Bret complimented each other beautifully. Even after all these years, their matches still hold up and he had a ton of charisma. As a single, I can only remember a few lowlights like his short-lived who gimmick, him appearing as the KKK and the least deserved 'you still got it' chant in Pro Wrestling.
Sags was easily the better Nasty Boy, but one ran afoul of the nWo and the other kept buddying up to Hogan.
Mark Bricoe is easily the second to Jay Briscoe who's gone onto win the ROH Championship on multiple occassions, but Mark is a really good worker in his own right. While Jay has that Stone Cold like intensity and is one of the better mic workers in the business, Mark is just crazy and has that dead eye stare that's hilarious. His work is fun as well with a lot more Dusty Rhodes type gimmickry where he's hitting his redneck-fu and such. They still team and they're still easily the best part of ROH, check out their ladder war against the Guerillas of Destiny, easily the best GOD match of all-time.
JoMo ended his WWE run with the crowd chanting for Zach Ryder. This maybe the ultimate Jannetty because not in a million years did anyone think the freakin Miz would be the bigger star, yet here we are. I just think it goes to show it doesn't matter how athletic you are, if you can't get over as a personality, than you can't work in the WWE. Both guys were handed some awful material, but whereas The Miz kept spinning things to make it work, JoMo would just bomb time and time again. It was such a shame too because Morrison was easily my favourite wrestler circa 2007-09.
Matt is definitely a Jannetty because when push comes to shove, Jeff is always seen as the bigger star. He's the more capable performer and just always had that free spirit charisma to him that his brother didn't have. Which isn't to say Matt was bad, I actually think Matt was one of the best performers of his generation, he just never got the ball until it was too late. I'm talking 10 years too late, Matt should have been one of the top stars in the WWE circa 2006, instead he was a top star in TNA in 2016 and easily one of the most over stars in the industry. There's an alternative universe out there where Vince saw the light and gave Matt the push he deserved.

Really makes you wonder why it's called The Jannetty and not The Neidhart. You guys won me over to your way of thinking. Anvil is actually a bigger Jannetty than Jannetty. It shall be called The Anvil from here on out for the beautiful double meaning of dead weight on the tag team itself, which wasn't necessarily Anvil himself, but certainly was some of these other jabronis.

Neidhart was even the Jannetty/Anvil of the New Foundation. Double Jannetty/Anvil accomplishment!

Anyone consider Road Warrior Animal? Hawk didn't exactly light up the single scene either. They were pretty much equals.

It's obviously not a Hart/Anvil chasm, but I think he was clearly the better Road Warrior, in ring and on the mic. Thought someone might have snuck him in their lower half.

Anyone consider Road Warrior Animal? Nah, Animal killed jobbers equally with his clothselines, could do flippy shit when needed (drop kicks and back suplex reversals) and in the limited footage I've seen, seemed more ornery than Hawk outside of the ring back in the 80's.

One obvious one that completely slipped my mind:
Rumour had it that Dibiase was considered the future superstar of the WWE. This was the guy that was supposed to join Cena, Batista and Orton as the top star in the company and supposedly there were plans for him to break Undertaker's streak. His push came in the form of Legacy, a blatant rip-off of TNA's Next Generation, where he formed a tag team with Cody Rhodes as they served Randy Orton. Despite being out of their depth, they were pushed as the biggest heel act in the company and even scored a PPV win over D-Generation X during Shawn's retirement tour. When it came time to break the stable off, the plan was for Dibiase to usurp Orton and go onto become one of the biggest stars of 2010. What ended up happening is that the break-up was so underwhelming, they just had Randy beat both Rhodes & Dibiase at Wrestlemania and turn babyface.
They broke up and while Rhodes was supposed to fall by the way-side, his career flourished as he improved out of sight with the Dashing gimmick. Dibiase Jr on the other hand floundered as they tried to make him the New Million Dollar Man. By 2011, he was serving Cody Rhodes before quietly retiring from Pro Wrestling.
Meanwhile Cody has since gone onto revolutionise the independants and is about to launch the biggest wrestling company since WCW. Seriously, SM is just shaking his head, pitying us for being such fools.

Not really sure I remember anyone expecting Cody to go un-noticed etc, he always had a good fan following that expected better things of him than he got.

I don't think it came off as a complete surprise either, but Dibiase was framed as the alpha of the group. He was always booked stronger and got to stay on the 'A' show when they broke up.

Anyone consider Road Warrior Animal? I considered it, but the Lauranaitis factor made me think twice and even consider Hawk. For a generation, Hawk was the problem child of the group who's biggest claim to fame was attempted suicide on Raw. They had a one and done try-out on Raw in 2003, before Hawk croaked while Animal got another nostalgia run.
Of course there was also that memorable Magnificent Seven run in WCW.
That's still in my top five 'biggest let-downs'.

And even if Cody had a fan following, he wasn't getting the hype Ted was. I recall it being teased at one point that Ted was getting a WrestleMania match with Taker and possibly even ending the streak. Cody never had anything close to that.

Holy shit, I haven't thought about The Magnificent Seven since March 2001.

There were a few of us who were team Cody, like SM, but most people were really behind DiBiase and thought Cody was just some skinny kid with a lisp. Remember Legacy in Fan Fic? DiBiase was the star until I took over and pushed Cody instead. People were like 'I don't buy Cody Rhodes doing a moonsault' or 'There's no way Cody Rhodes could have a talk-show segment'.

Cody/Dibiase is a good one. I personally thought they both sucked but Cody is a bigger deal than ever while Dibiase flopped after being the one with backstage hype. I probably hadn't thought of Other Ted Dibiase in like 10 years. Huge Jannetty.
I didn't consider Animal for my list, though I do lean Hawk > Animal mainly because Hawk was doing stuff for 3 and a half years while Animal was sitting out collecting that fat Lloyd's of London insurance payout. Sorry, Animal fans. Teaming with Heidenreich as an old man hurts more than helps.
