Down to Jacksonville vs Detroit for the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. Never say never but depends on how fast Stafford goes down.

Down to Jacksonville vs Detroit for the Justin Lawrence sweepstakes. Never say never but depends on how fast Stafford goes down. I never bought the idea they were tanking in the slightest. Even with Stidham I would have pegged them with a floor of at least 6 or 7 wins. I'd have Washington and Carolina in the mix for the #1 pick.

Cam is going to have the same issue that Tom Brady deal last season lack of weapons but I think they make the po though Agreed that their skill positions are poor but Cam is really the perfect quarterback for that sort of situation as Kid sort of alluded to, as he really does create the offence himself. He's never had a good group of receivers - but he did make big receivers who struggled to get separation like Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess look serviceable, and the Pats have N'Keal Harry on the roster. If you want to look at it from a glass half full perspective, this Patriots roster is very similar to the 2015 Panthers when Cam won MVP. An elite defence, a good offensive line, poor receivers.

Cam is the perfect fit. I am curious to see if he and Edelman clash though. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Edelman traded during the season if he’s not injured in the first month. Edelman is going to miss Brady and Cam will run through a gap before he passes to Edelman. I don’t know if they’ll work well together.
As for the worst team, I’m going with Carolina and that is with CMC putting together a 3000 yard season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if New England grabs OJ Howard. Maybe he could have a resurgence in a change of scenery like Eric Ebron did when he left Detroit.

I'm predicting that Cam Newton is the Pats starting QB next season. Called it! It's astonishing that all the other teams just sat around and allowed this to happen. I know there are injury concerns, but he's 31 years old and a former MVP!! He's getting paid just a little bit more than Chase Daniel for goodness sake. Fuck I'm amped for football now. Hurry up September. Just to amend this as I rushed to post without really looking at the contract details, Newton's base is supposedly the league minimum plus incentives. Chase Daniel is getting paid more than Cam, and Jameis Winston combined. 🤔

Texans considering moving for Antonio Brown. Surely there's no way Bill O'Brien would sign anybody with his track record. It would also be insane to trade assets/picks for a WR, when it's a solid enough group even without Hopkins.

AB to Houston would right all of his wrongs, IMO.
As for the New England TE situation. David Njoku has demanded a trade from Cleveland. NE might go after him or he’ll end up elsewhere but he’s not staying in Cleveland so we’ll see.

Plus accusations of raping women in the NFL and NBA and SOCCER have names like Big Ben, Kobe and Ronaldo. How’d their careers go? How did those accusations end?

The 10 year thing is fun for headlines but basically irrelevant because he'll never play out the time on this contract.
I actually think he's probably underpaid, he could have got $50m per - but with that said I wonder whether this is the tipping point where teams will now start to genuinely consider how they approach their QB situation, and whether or not they are better off letting their average/above average starters walk after their rookie contracts and take their chances on replacing them in the draft. If I were the Cowboys for instance I absolutely wouldn't pay Dak Prescott.

So does that mean if he only plays 5 years he still gets $477 million? I also read that he’ll likely just sign a new deal in 4 or 5 years and this current contract is just to get him his fuck you money before he takes a more team friendly deal or signs elsewhere.

If I were the Cowboys for instance I absolutely wouldn't pay Dak Prescott. Normally I would agree but Mahomes is only 24 years old and QBs play longer than ever now. Mahomes would be only 34 if he plays out the deal that isn't old by any means for today's QB's. If Mahomes keeps up the same level of play he could easily play through this contract.

I also read that he’ll likely just sign a new deal in 4 or 5 years and this current contract is just to get him his fuck you money before he takes a more team friendly deal or signs elsewhere. There is "rolling guarantees" so he'd have to play the full length of the contract to get the entire value. It's $141 million guaranteed if he's on the roster at March 2022, for example. The 10 year thing is fun for headlines but basically irrelevant because he'll never play out the time on this contract. He might well still be playing for the Chiefs by then, but what I was saying is that he won't be playing on this contract. It's not linked to a percentage of the salary cap so he will certainly be considered underpaid in a few years time when other less talented quarterbacks surpass him. Jared Goff is averaging 33.5 million per year right now.

Assuming his health and quality of play remain consistent he’ll almost definitely be in KC in 12 years, but I agree that it won’t be on this deal. It’s not really sensible for the best NFL QB’s to switch teams (though Dak is walking down the Kirk Cousins path of being an above average QB that forces his way into a lot of money) so unless for some reason KC decides they’re done with him he’ll be there.
I’m not particularly bothered by the deal, though I think it makes the road ahead considerably more difficult for KC. They didn’t really have a choice on this one.

The 10 year thing is fun for headlines but basically irrelevant because he'll never play out the time on this contract. Exactly. This is a win-win for KC. I presume there are several ways to get out of it if it doesn't work, but what it does accomplish is it stops Mahomes going anywhere until he's basically past his prime or has sudden severe regression through injury or whatever. The actual money is meaningless because it'll be restructured more than once before it's done with.

I think it's definitely disappointing that there have only been a handful of NFL players coming out to criticise this, Jackson has doubled down on his stance and has received support from some other players like Marquise Goodwin. Guys like Malcolm Jenkins who were very passionate about what Brees said and the idea that silence = violence should be on the front foot here as well.
One of the really positive things about the recent wave of protests is how we've seen a lot of unity across racial lines behind the cause of ending inequality. Jackson is doing the complete opposite of that by being anti-Semitic and then claiming he doesn't need to apologise because he's a black man and therefore is somehow immune from being racist himself.

Ex NBA player Stephen Jackson even commended him and guys like Jameis Winston & Kevin Durant thumb upped the post by Desean. I don't get it. Is it because some black people believe they are the true descendants as Israelite's?
