US plan of staying open is working out really good so far. Red Cross almost out of blood, schools are being forced to go remote due to lack of healthy teachers, hospitals are moving to treating only COVID cases, shelves are being emptied as there too little healthy drivers to ship things and we still are averaging 800k new infections a day.
Meanwhile, our people saying that THIS TIME it is the real end of the pandemic, the peak is over and it will just go away soon. Like it did after alpha and delta.

I thought it got me, but 2 negative RAT tests later and nothing. I came down with chills and shakes last night that eventuated into a 38.5 degree fever and some mighty sweating and a gun-shot wound like chest pain. Didn't sleep a wink last night despite being dead tired. I've been tired this last week, almost lethargic. It's very unusual for me to be sick outside of a common cold and I never need to take a day off from work to recovery. Victoria has also activated a " Code Brown " - www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-19/what-is-code-brown-emergency-in-victorian-hospitals/100765890" A Code Brown is a nationally recognised emergency alert usually reserved for transport accidents, chemical spills, natural disasters and mass casualty events. It aims to ease the burden on health services by streamlining emergency management systems when there is an influx of patients over a short period of time. Each hospital will have a different plan around what to do in a Code Brown event. By triggering the code, hospitals can redeploy workers to areas of greatest need, postpone leave to boost staffing numbers, and redistribute resources to ensure critical patients are prioritised. " In short, from what I've been told by my Nurse wife, they're pulling annual leave, pulling nurses out of private hospitals to assist in public health, etc to help overwhelmed hospitals as Omicron goes nuts. as the article suggests.

Every time my lungs hurt like Nath it was pneumonia. Your wife will know better I am sure. Can also be a lung infection. If you can take time off work should do so at least until it stop hurting.
No one I know who got COVID symptoms tested positive for COVID on the home tests. About half did on the lab ones.

Wrestled on Sunday, was in a rumble for 4 seconds (by choice) and managed a match. Myself and another wrestler were only being wearing masks backstage as I definitely didn’t want Covid before road trip and having a wrestling show let alone a rumble match when omicron is rampant isn’t the wisest.
Wake up yesterday not feeling the greatest and develops into worst headache I’ve ever had/felt cold and hot at the same time and a sore throat. Turns out the promoter and his brother as well as a few other people tested positive and likely caught it on show day.
Did a rapid test which was negative so just went to get a PCR to double check. Be amazed if I don’t have it despite being around several Covid + people and having most symptoms.

I spent most of the day in bed yesterday shaking off what felt like I was hit by a bus. By dinner time, apart from feeling a bit tired and a mild headache, I was OK. Then as the night set in, I have the cold shakes again, a headache like I was hit in the head with a brick and sweated like I was in a sauna all night. I was able to get a few more hours sleep however. And I still feel less than 100% today.

I hate night sweats. They are an unfortunate part of menopause. One night I woke up like I'd been lying on a water bed that sprung a leak. You guys are lucky you have penises. You however are not lucky to be sick. Feel better soon NATH45

It was announced today that my Province will send up to 300 people to Fargo North Dakota for spine surgeries. Like in other places, our health care system has essentially shut down. The surgical and diagnostic backlog is sitting at 165000. Our population is only 1.38 million!
I wonder if I'll be one of the 300. Doubtful since I'm still considered "functional".

Incidentally, I've driven to Fargo several times, and to Minneapolis once to access Americano health care. Once for my wife because she didn't want to wait months for a colonoscopy. Once for me for some gene sequencing that Manitoba wouldn't do (turns out I have some mutated cystic fibrosis gene that caused my infertility and forced me to have sperm extraction surgery twice in order to have kids) and the third time to pay for a procedure that nobody in Manitoba would do. So I have paid for some procedures. And was happy to do it since two of them weren't offered. Point is, if I get selected I'm already familiar with Sanford health in Fargo. And it helps that I have family in North Dakota as well.

It's everywhere, my next door neighbour has it, as does the guy next door to him... I think the cases are now well under reported, not that it matters if hospital numbers are down.

For those that have had it, what were the last symptoms you had before you recovered?
I felt fine when I woke up this morning and now I have a headache but unsure if that’s still Covid or unrelated, I still have a few days left in Isolation anyway but I’m hoping it’s all done and dusted.

One of the other wrestlers who got Covid was telling me his neighbour over the fence was asking why he hadn’t been walking around lately, he told him it’s because he has Covid
So in response, the neighbour throws him some beer over the fence.
How Australian

New omicron subtype developed and is spreading. Lots of mutations from omicron prime, spreads faster they assume but right now does not appear more lethal.

Good to hear she’s better. My girl is battling her second cold of the winter and each one has come with a panic of is this it? Tests have become a little tougher to come by but she’ll probably have to go do a slow one if she’s not better today.

I never found myself as helpless as I did when my daughter was really sick or hurt and there was little I could do. Hoping she gets through the worst of it quickly and without and lingering issues. <3 Hope your daughter is on the mend soon too mikec.

I came across a few rapid tests this morning so i have a supply again.
