Many of the Chinese factories have shut down so it's starting to cause some major supply and demand issues with my work. We (royal we) just HAD to take manufacturing offshore to save a few $$$.

Well my town has been hit with the Coronavirus.

Enter FREAK OUT MODE. FUCK! And I work in the medical field. Shit just hit the fan.

We have 7 cases in our Province; a couple cases in our city. I ain't concerned for me. Just children, older people and immuno-compromised people.

I'm flying to San Antonio in a week. Wish I would have waiting to book. Would have saved $400 on my first class ticket

We can fly to the US for $600 which is absolutely absurd. Just a shame you're paying the difference the minute you have to go to GP because it's a third world country.

Next week I am flying to Vienna and the UK and I managed to score frequent flyer seats in business class despite only booking this week.


People ask me if I am worried about getting corona virus, but I think corona virus should be more afraid of catching me.

Trump refusing testing after several exposures. Congress getting worried that when they fly home they will get infected. Others worried that a fair chunk of congress is not likely to survive this. Meanwhile Trump is pushing another cut to medicare and Biden is saying things are fine right now healthcarewise. Also all three top candidates are in the 15% mortality risk rate. Even odds if this saturates one does not make the election.

The panic is funny as this has not even really started yet. In three weeks shit should really hit the fan.

Best thing I heard is local conservatives on facebook debating if the CDC can be trusted because they do not believe this virus is real and it is just the liberals trying to steal the next election by crashing the economy on a made up pandemic. We have a few cases in the area where we all live too and will likely close schools in a few weeks when the spread takes off.

My favorite thing about this all is liberals creating their own thoughts and prayers with hand washing. Like that will save you when you are forced to go into work and cannot get access to healthcare when the few places that take your insurance gridlock. Also the US is promoting not using masks, despite there being masks that are effective that cannot be used in healthcare anyway. So prayers and hand washing it is I guess.

Trump retweeting a pic of himself playing a fiddle is just icing on the cake for all this.

Australia is heading for a recession as stock market falls 7.33% in worst day since the GFC. Around $140bn was wiped from the value of shares as the ASX200 lost 7.33%, shedding 455 points to 5,760 points. The Australian dollar was also caught up in the selloff and was trading as low as 63.98 US cents.

There's no doubt in my mind that the world is in recession, all we need is the numbers to make it formal.
The Chinese economy stopping for basically two months will have to lead to at least a 10% global drop in output.
Even in buoyant economies, the supply chain is already seizing up.

The thing I hate the most about this is the response by western countries. Yeah, this isn't something that is going to kill the majority of people that catch it, and like the flu it's only really worrisome for the elderly and immunocompromised people.....but what the fuck is going to happen when a real "fuck you" virus spreads this quick?

I heard through some credible sources that clinics and hospitals are being told not to check EVERYONE for coronavirus due to supply and overload for the people who have to do the testing in labs. They need to apparently hit every single check point. Fever, couch, high temp, recent travel. Basically a go fuck yourself to everyone.

I have a general head cold and am feeling unwell.
Yet, by our government rules I am not to be tested for Corona because I haven't been overseas or had contact with a confirmed case.

I’m on annual leave so I’ve mostly just been at home, however public showing on Saturday as place I’m renting is being sold.
