Under 40s cannot get the jab in Australia without an exception. However vaccines are being rolled out in some of Sydney's elite private schools. Yes, fuck the common folk. Fuck them. Since they have a higher likely future value to society in terms of market capitalization shouldn't they be prioritized <.<

That's not quite how it happened whether it was a mistake or a scam on the schools behalf. On this one the government operated in good faith. I'm currently in the waiting room for my first shot

First dose done and already booked for the second
We may not have enough vaccine here in Australia but the process today was flawless.

If they did not warn you, since you already had COVID you are likely to have increased side effects. Will feel like you have the flu tomorrow, then feel fine the day after, but the side effects are pretty random and you will likely have different experiences every between the two shots.
US docs generally claim all of these vaccines have no side effects then wonder why people start to distrust them when they get sick afterwards.
Plus side for you, is since you had COVID, this is like just straight out juicing your antibodies. This first shot is like a long term booster, the next one will basically be like giving the COVID antibodies pcp and switchblades. Barring serious mutation, will likely be able to shake off exposure for the foreseeable future.

Olympics brought COVID to Japan. They declared a state of emergency through the games and it is likely they will ban spectators at the games. Pretty much now a fight between Olympic contractors and the Japanese government. Japan will not likely sacrifice people for profits though.

Yeah they don't exactly have more coming via their birthrate.

Spectators cancelled from the Olympics which is leading to sponsors canceling programs since they cannot profit from the games without customers on them.
Amazing how two weeks ago people said this would happen...

What was the atmosphere like over there for the 1996 Olympics?
When Sydney hosted it in 2000 you couldn't escape it in Australia.

1996 games were huge here, but for the wrong reasons. Remember a nail bomb killed a girl and 100+ were wounded.
I think most people seen more Nike (Faster, Higher, Stronger, Badder) and Coke (the official drink of 1996 Olympic Games) commercials than the actual Olympics as well. I seem to remember Nike being so aggressive with advertising that the Olympics considered banning them from the events entirely.

Women's sport was the big legacy of the 96 Olympics in America. The US won the inaugural gold medals in soccer (which they've dominated ever since) and softball, won their first in team gymnastics, and destroyed everyone in basketball which fed into the introduction of the WNBA.

Moderna prepping booster shots for next year. Likely will roll out in the winter. Likely COVID shots will be a yearly thing moving forward in many places since MEH FREEDUM means at least in MERCIA we will keep the virus alive and spreading indefinitely. Based on facebook memes many believe that virus always evolve to become more contagious and less lethal, wrongly believing viruses evolve towards fitness. Except that is not always the case. Good breakdown of why the meme theory is wrong. But TL:DR, viruses evolve at random and not towards fitness. Even if they evolved towards fitness, medicine resistance would make a virus more lethal and more fit. apnews.com/article/fact-checking-011488089270

Viruses evolve to survive, jumping species or evolving around vaccines isn't becoming more lethal it's about survival.

NSW have recorded 45 and 50 cases in the past two days with numbers expected to trend upwards.
Relatively small numbers compared to other parts of the world but given how stringent Australia has been I can see this setting the country back. Australia had every advantage so it was easy to get on top of the virus before it did too much damage but we're starting to see the impact of the slow vaccine roll-out. I'm still not eligible for it and Queensland only has 8 days worth of supply for Pfizer.

Even if they evolved towards fitness, medicine resistance would make a virus more lethal and more fit. apnews.com/article/fact-checking-011488089270The article doesn't really say that. Viruses evolve to survive, jumping species or evolving around vaccines isn't becoming more lethal it's about survival. This implies that mRNA viruses reproduce. They do not. Without the lack of means of reproduction they would also lack the means to evolve. This is why people say they replicate. MRNA send in strands of RNA to pair with ribosomes and replace the cell's RNA to pair to the cell's DNA to make proteins that it then assembles into virions. Once the genetic assembly is complete and the virion can break out of the host cell, then it is considered alive. This is an important because at this stage, the virion is not actually considered a living organism and why many biologists do not even consider them to truly met the criteria for living. Articles states: "Day said there are documented cases of animal viruses that evolved over time to become more lethal, including myxoma virus in rabbits and Marek’s disease in chicken. Some viruses provoke severe symptoms in their hosts that make it easier to transmit the virus to others. But those same symptoms can wind up killing the hosts." Treatment resistance is another trait that viruses can pick up to increase lethality as it increases the likelihood the host dies.

77 cases yesterday (11th July) not looking good, wouldn’t be surprised if my work has to shut in the next few weeks if NSW not just Sydney goes into lockdown Delta:
