There's no need to shit on Kit just to polish Dottie's star. Kit is a fucking jerk. She wouldn’t have been in the league without Dottie. True story.

True story. No she played because it was Kitt's dream , even though Dottie was the superior sister. And Kit was bratty , selfish and unappreciateive. She was like Antonio Brown in the 20's. Kit deserves no good words.

Shes honestly one of my least favorite movie characters ever , I mean Dottie went to play baseball out of pity for Kit who was going nowhere and Kit never once appreciated it or showed a bit of gratitude. Instead she acted like a child , threw temper tantrums and lashed out at Dottie out of pure jealousy and only jealousy. And it's implied that she then didn't talk to Dottie for what? 40-50 years?

I had Crash at 10, he was in a very similar position as Dottie as the mentor catcher to a hot shot pitcher. Only this time the roles reversed as Crash became the jealous of Nuke (Tim Robbins) once he made the big leagues. Crash was a more demonstrative character than Dot and had some good one liners so he got the last spot.

Only this time the roles reversed as Crash became the jealous of Nuke (Tim Robbins) once he made the big leagues. Crash was a more demonstrative character than Dot and had some good one liners so he got the last spot. I had Crash at #4. He's a great character. I wouldn't say Crash was jealous of Nuke, Nuke had more talent, he was younger and had his entire career ahead of him, Crash saw the writing on the wall. All he ever wanted to do was play baseball back in the show, now Nuke was getting his shot, more than likely before he was ready and it got to him. Crash was at his crossroads in life, personally and professionally. The first of Kevin Costner's baseball trilogy. Nuke is based on a real life minor league pitcher, Steve Dalkowski. His fastball averaged 100 mph and they say he topped out at 110 mph, problem was he was extremely wild. In one season he struck out 262 in 170 innings, but also walked 262.

Crash just barely missed my list. He was easily the best part of Bull Durham. Tim Robbins on the other hand was completely unconvincing as a star pitcher.

Didn't vote for Crash since I've never actually seen Bull Durham from start to finish. Which is weird because I was a baseball fan who loved Kevin Costner as a youngster and definitely would have had time for Tim Robbins after Shawshawnk.

I really thought that Roy Hobbs was a shoe in for at least top 5. I guess there are more people like me who have never seen the Natural to fairly rate him.

I had Roy Hobbs at #5. Very good movie, I'm a big fan of the book. The best fictional baseball player, not named Steve Nebraska. My #1 & 2 are shoo-ins...I'm pretty sure. My #3 is a toss up, thinking probably not. #6 may have a shot, but I highly doubt 7 & 8. Hobbs is the better player, but Crash Davis is in the better movie ---hot take---
1. 2. 3. 4. Crash Davis
5. Roy Hobbs
6. 7. 8. 9. Dottie Hinson
10. The Hanson Brothers

Roy Hobbs was my #1 with a bullet. The Natural was one of my favorite movies growing up. I saw it even more times than The Shawshank Redemption. It is strongly implied that Roy Hobbs had the "natural" talent to be both the greatest pitcher and the greatest hitter who ever lived.
As a teenager he strikes out The Whammer, who is basically a Babe Ruth stand in, on three pitches. A tryout with the Chicago Cubs is set to follow. Alas, tragedy strikes that very same night when he is shot by a mysterious woman who turns out to be a serial killer with the odd m.o. of targeting the world's greatest athletes. This puts an end to his pitching career.
Fast forward about 17 years. Roy Hobbs is now a 35 year old rookie for the lowly New York Knights who was signed from the bush leagues by a corrupt scout as a joke. Hobbs is now a right fielder. The manager refuses to play him. But he has no choice after their star player dies after running through the wall(!) in pursuit of a fly ball. Hobbs literally knocks the cover off the ball in his very first at bat. We soon discover this is just another day for the GOAT.
Hobbs quickly becomes a fan favorite and great teammate who immediately improves the chemistry of the moribund New York Knights. He hits 4 home runs in a single game. Another mammoth Hobbs home run hits this clock which is like 500 feet away. Aside from one slump, he seems to hit at least home run in every game while also playing stellar defense in right field. The Knights go from worst to first entirely because of Roy Hobbs....
When tragedy strikes. His bullet wound from all those years ago starts acting up. Hobbs misses some games. The Knights naturally (hehe) lose them all.
So the finale is set. New York Knights vs. the hated Pittsburgh Pirates with the National League pennant on the line. Hobbs is still hurt but vows to play. He struggles, going 0 for 3. The Knights mount a rally in the 9th inning. Hobbs is up one last time with 2 outs and the winning runs on base. He must face the Pirates star young pitcher, who is suspiciously similar to Roy Hobbs at the start of the movie. This happens....
What a legend! The world's greatest pitcher. The world's greatest hitter. Ideal teammate. Hero to children. Irresistible to women. Incorruptible by gamblers. Originator of Bret Hart's catchphrase. And the greatest fictional athlete of all time.

Drago didn't make my list , the dude was roided to the gills and I refuse to commend behaviour like that. Either you're a super athlete or you're not - no need to take shortcuts along the way. Also you're only as good as your last fight , and he lost , and shamed his country.
He is a superior trash talker though. 'I Must Break You' is iconic.

And I had Clubber at a very respectable #5. But killing Apollo > beating Rocky (especially since Rocky won the rematch) in terms of impact.

Drago was my number 5 and I would have put Clubber on my list as well if I wasn't so self-conscious with the Rocky love.
Clubber does have more quotable scenes though. "I'll take you to my apartment and show you a real man.", "dead meat", "prediction: pain", "I pity the fool" which was huge in 80's culture. Clubber gets the nod there but Drago killing Apollo makes him a bigger villain overall.

Didn’t I pity the fool come from A-Team? I could easily be misremembering. Also not saying they are bad quotes but come on - they aren’t as quoted as Drago.

My 2-5 was all Rocky characters  and I still had a tough time filling out the bottom of my list. Didn’t I pity the fool come from A-Team? Nope. It's another Mandela Effect situation. Mr. T never once says "I Pity The Fool" on the A Team. His famous catchphrase is from Rocky III.

As much as I love Dolph, because he should be a national treasure. I didn't vote for Drago. I didn't vote for Clubber either, but I did vote for Apollo, because in the long run, he's far more important.

At least Apollo was a trained fighter. Mickey was an old man.
