In all honesty I have ZERO CLUE why bodyslam submits lists. don't hate me because I choose to not compromise the facts for the sake of fitting in. I admire your drive. There was a stretch of 30 countdowns where I didn't submit at all and I think I probably had more on my list than you ever did. :ness:

There's Something About Mary was my 3. Great date movie. bodyslam makes it onto the board in the best way possible; i.e., reppin' Stillers greatness.

I watched There's Something About Mary, and turned it off as soon as I saw the zipper scene, which was very early on, if not the first scene. That set the tone, and it is not a tone that I like.

I had Something About Mary ranked at #5. It's a terrific comedy that has just enough heart without being sappy.
First time I took real notice of Cameron Diaz though is easily the The Mask.

My #1, just a perfect comedy for me, doesn't miss a note, great ensemble, manages to have heart, fantastic jokes, sublime ending. Great.

Something About Mary is easily my favourite Ben Stiller movie and I loved it so much when I was a kid, but it definitely doesn’t live up to the nostalgia of how funny it was when you rewatch it. So many jokes definitely went over my head before though haha

Mary didn't make my list. I think at the time it came out I thought it was over-hyped and when I did eventually watch it, I didn't find it all that amusing. I guess it's just not my cup of tea, that's all.

Everyone raved about it and I thought 'I must have missed something' cause other than a couple of moments I was underwhelmed. Suffice to say, it did not make my list either.

Dodgeball is great , I don't know that its #2 on this countdown great but certainly Top 5.
Stiller is incredible as a villain , from Happy Gilmore to Heavyweights (which I think this could be a sequel to) he just seems to shine in that role the most and White Goodman is such a Grade-A douchebag and provides most of the comedy an absurdly funny quotes from the movie. Rip Torn is great , Vince Vaughn is the perfect laid back counter to Stiller and Christine Taylor is always overlooked in movies as being a key player. Just like this one.
Special shoutout to the commentary team though , mainly Jason Bateman who is my favorite character in the movie. He is so fuckin hilarious and perfect in that role and Gary Cole is an awesome straight man. I use "Thats a bold move Cotton , lets see how it plays out for them/him" consistently. Love him.
Overall yeah a great comedy. Definitely Top 2 Stiller for me.

Dodgeball was my Number 5. UT pretty much covered it, but for me what made me laugh the most was Alan Tudyk's Steve the pirate. I will never not find that hilarious. I love Alan Tudyk.

Pleasantly surprised, and honestly with the camp that's like "this is good, but #2 good? I dunno..." I also gotta echo UT on Stiller playing such a great villain. And Sandler plays such a great everyman hero (better than Vince Vaughn, IMO) that I regret them not working together more in more movies with each playing to their respective face and heel strengths.

Dodgeball is absurdist gold, one of the few spoof movies since Scary Movie 2 to be any good, basically second to only Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox story. So many great gags and quotes, with White Goodman being an all time great comedy antagonist. My #3.

I enjoyed Dodgeball the one time I watched it. I remember it being a big deal to kids my age as it was so funny. Plus it had the great line ‘If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”

This Dodgeball hate is second only to the Zoolander hate in how baffling it is to me. NOBODY MAKES ME BLEED MY OWN BLOOD!!! Except that the Zoolander hate is deserved, as it is hot garbage. Dodgeball on the other is simply magnificent, my #2 movie on this list for all the same reasons UT listed and more. This movie never fails to make me laugh every time I watch it. I also thought that "The Ocho' only existed in Dodgeball. I was rather surprised to learn ESPN actually has "The Ocho" in real life

Dodgeball was my #3 tipped only by The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. I hate agreeing with UT but he pretty much nails it here. This is a movie I put on when I need to laugh. If it’s on, I’m watching, It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen it either. Cotton and Pepper commentating is the best and Stiller plays White so well. Happy with the placement of this one.

I remember the hype around There's Something About Mary and used to catch bits and pieces but I was too young to appreciate it. Please, I used to get it mixed up with Something's Got To Give due to how prevelant the dog was in all the marketing.
Fast forward to senior year, around the time of the senior formal and I come across TSAM on cable and it was just one of those chance encounters that hit me. Right place, right time and the DVD from that point on became my background noise for my final exam block. I really enjoyed the ensemble cast, I totally bought into everyone trying to woo Mary, she was the personification of the 'cool chick' everyone wants. Matt Dillon played a fantastic slimeball and I loved the reveal of Tucker being a pizza boy.
I also think this movie came to define Ben Stiller and how he just became this human punching bag you can't help but feel sorry for. He's a nice enough guy, but he's just so incredibly awkward he can't help to get into trouble.
It's also the long round-a-bout reason why I support the Minnesota Vikings.
pi and Wife having a TSAM in-joke warms the cockles of my heart.
Dodgeball, love UT's Heavyweights sequel theory, I came very close to including that on my list as well. Before Stiller found his babyface persona, I bought him as this over the top heel you couldn't wait to see get his comeuppance. Was Dodgeball another Fight Club where it found a second life on DVD? I don't recall it being in theatres, but as soon as it came out on DVD, it was THE back-up movie and was always incredibly rewatchable.

Landslide #1 winner was Happy Gilmore , easily to this day Sandlers most famous and quoted role and my favorite movie of his. GOAT villain in Shooter who pigeon holed McDonald so much that I can never see him as anyone or anything else than a complete asshole.
Also has Stiller in a small but incredible part where he bats .1000 and crushes every line.
One movie from my list that I wish would have made it somehow was Bulletproof. Fucking love that movie with Sandler and Wayans and thinks it's his most underrated. If you haven't seen it and like SANDLER , check it out. It don't have the Billy Madison stuff that turns people off either. Fuck action/comedy buddy cop movie.

Both Shooter and Happy made my fictional athlete countdown! I'll take Happy over Billy 10 times outta 10, same for Claire Dunphy over Veronica Vaughn.

Anyone else ever heard or realized that the double V's appear in so many Sandler comedies with his girls.
Vicki Valencourt Virginia Venet Veronica Vaughn Valerie Veran
Along with some other V's or alliteration.
Also a large amount of his own characters will always end in why. Happy Billy Nicky Sonny Whitey Tommy Lenny etc..

No surprise here at Happy Gilmore being no.1, it was also my No.1 choice. When I started making my list, this was the one movie I knew would be at the top spot for me. It's one of my favourite comedies and I will never not watch when it's on, I have it on DVD as wellI think. UT is right about Christopher McDonald, I can never see him as anything but Shooter McGavin now. Really the whole movie is brilliant, from Happy himself, to Chubbs Peterson, Shooter, Grandma and that cameo from Bob Barker (which is making me laugh as I type this).
