I watched Tropic Thunder, the only movie on this list I'm kinda interested in besides Zoolander. You wanna know my thoughts? Well, this review is pretty long, so I'll spoiler it. Tom Cruise's cameo is awesome! Ben Stiller wins this countdown for me. Two movies I like vs a big fat zero for Sandler.

Why is Tom Cruise's role considered a cameo? If he was only in the scene at the start where he appears in the video call, I get it. But he appears in a fairly long scene later in the film, and does a pre-credit boogie! Matthew McCounaghey is in the film for less time - is that a cameo too? What about Steve Coogan? Another cameo?
Maybe I just don't know what a cameo is. But a cameo is what Stan Lee does in the Marvel movies. Tom Cruise did a LOT more than that.

Largely it comes down to Cruise's star power and how he didn't feature at all in the promotional material for the movie. A cameo is just a brief appearance by a well known star, McConaghy for instance makes a cameo in The Wolf Of Wall Street despite playing a major role in the film's story.
One of the most famous cameos in recent years is Bill Murray in Zombieland, and it's nearly an entire act of the movie.
