It's been snowing buckets here last two days. It's days like these I am thankful my work is cool about letting us work from home so I don't have to deal with the shit storm traffic/accident wise. Oh I bitch about my work (cause why not), but honestly I thankful a) I still have a job as the economy here is brutal b) we have a system that allows us to work from home c) I mostly enjoy what I do and the people I work with.
I am also thankful we hired someone to shovel the walks and driveway this year. I'd have already had a heart attack with the amount of snow we've already gotten and you could land a 747 on our new driveway.

I might have a job lined up finally. A friend of mine runs his own HVAC business and is willing to train me despite lack of experience. Just waiting on the final confirmation. I'm psyched, ready to get back to work and out of this damn apartment complex.
Had to cut my long hair in the process but oh well, it'll be worth it.

HVAC is the trade I'd want to get into, and my buddy's dad has his own business and was looking for a successor to take over... But timing seems like it didn't line up. Keep us posted on how the apprenticeship goes!

iron maiden all issues aside so far... is homeownership worth it over renting? Guess post your thoughts in whichever pos/neg thread applies to the answer.

Just got back home with two different gummies. And it's......... FUCKING EXPENSIVE. Then again I don't know what it costs on the street. Still better than nothing since all the OH legislators are against it even for medicinal purposes, minus the ex-governor who probably signed it on his way out to fuck with everyone. Thanks brah! How expensive? What did you pay if you don't mind me asking? For reference, 10mg gummies here in Canada typically come in packs of 2 and they cost $10.99 at the store I go to. The price varies a little depending on brand, type, etc.

So 2 10 packs were around 120. Guess I was thinking of beer by comparison as a 24 pack wouldn't cost 120. I was probably being a tad dramatic.

Word. Yeah that's pretty fair. Still a little high though, so you weren't too far off, since the 10.99 ones I buy are on the more expensive end because they are pink lemonade lavender flavour and I find they give me the best buzz. I've seen gummies as low as $7 but they probably taste like All Sorts or something.

iron maiden all issues aside so far... is homeownership worth it over renting? Guess post your thoughts in whichever pos/neg thread applies to the answer. Case can be made for both.
It was nice when something was wrong that we could just call and it was dealt with and no extra charge to us - well until lease renewal time any way. Our condo management company was started to get lazy though and we hardly ever called them. Plus there's the surprise at lease renewal time - is my rent going up and by how much? Right now we are paying about $300 more for our whole house, garage and yard then we were for renting our townhouse. Course we are also putting in about $300-500 a month for renovation/house hold fund which when we were renting was $100/month.
As someone who watches an ungodly amount of HGTV it is nice to know if we want to do or try something we don't have to ask anyone (well unless you are digging of course). My mom has huge plans for the front and back yard. I am not a gardener, but she loves that shit.
On the rental side, it was nice having one monthly payment and I had 2 pay periods that were 'bonus'. Now since we are in a biweekly mortgage (to pay it down quicker) there are no more 'bonus' pay periods except for what's left over. Mortgage will be paid off when I am 60 (15 years) which is nice to know I'll have a paid for house which is (mostly) mine when I'm looking at retiring. Equity is a nice thing to have.
Overall, I will say that I believe currently buying is winning out.
Issues are our fault which sticks in my craw a bit. We should have looked closer at a lot of things - windows, kitchen cupboards, parging, etc. Yes, we hired an inspector and some of the things he caught and we either glossed over or he missed. We also shouldn't have given in so easily when we were negotiating price, but I got suckered in because the lady had had a stroke and was paralyzed like my dad was and was just trying to get back home. I let feelings get in the way of business. Honestly, we paid 10K more than we should have. If we did this all over again, it would have been a very different experience. Live and learn though.

My Dad refuses to let us eat before the meal to make us extra hungry minus the veggie tray he has out. Though I've never gotten munchies... he should just make us take gummies as a pre-dinner mint to encourage an appetite.

Funny you mention that, I'm basically competing with someone right off the rip. Advantage me so far considering dude refuses to cut his mullet and I showed up to the interview with my hair already cut. Also forgot to mention that my boss/friend had 3 joints rolled up by the time I got over to the house. Coolest interview ever lol.

Well, I've decided to upgrade my phone deal finally and well it's better than the one I was intending to go for. Not many positives this year , sio I'll take that as a win.

I had to share this fantastic line, can't remember the last time I've laughed out loud at something online quite like this:
On Wreddit someone posted the gif of the referee picking up CM Punk's poop from the time he shit in the ring. One of the replies? "Last time I've seen a ref remove a little piece of shit like that from the ring was Victory Road 2011"

So not two months ago I was told that I wasn't going to get a pay raise until MAYBE the summer due to COVID and the economy. I was happy to still have a job and be working full time hours when so many others' hours were being cut or were losing their jobs all together. Monday I was told that the company did much better than expected and I would be getting a 15% raise which is far more than I was expecting especially after the crap year. I thought maybe 5-10% as I got a 10% raise about a year ago. I have been told repeatedly I am significantly underpaid, so I was told this pay raise is simply bringing me up to where I should be. However, I doubt I'll be seeing any wage increases after that unless I take on a more managerial role which I 100% do not want. Some people are good with being worker monkeys. That's me. Tell me what you want me to do, load me up, wind me up and watch me go, but do NOT load me down with responsibility for others and bullshit meetings and other corporate nonsense.
This comes at a welcome time as mom is looking to retire in next couple years and though I pay the lion's share already, I need to ensure I am in a position to carry the household budget without her income and that money she's put away can be used on any care she may need as she ages.

That's awesome! By the sounds of it you've had to put up with your fair share of shit from them over the years, so a raise is well deserved. I also feel pretty lucky at the moment to be in a secure job at a successful company (that's contributing to the fight against COVID!) that I never had any threat of losing, got my Christmas bonus and will likely get my annual payrise. Feels kinda deserved after going through some pretty crappy experiences in my first couple of jobs. I've been offered a job as a Covid Marshall, no sure if that's positive or not, contracted up until April/may if I take it. Read in to what what you will, UK peeps. A positive test maybe. :suspic:
