Well, slap my ass and call me Sally! I thought for sure one of the votes for Man on Fire was from me, but I checked my list and nope. I forgot it which is a HUGE oversight on my part. I love this movie. It's my favorite Denzel movie and had I not had my head up my ass would have ranked it around #40 (MAYBE higher). It's not one I re-watch often, but I do. It doesn't follow my 'normal' re-watch model, so IMO that's a testament to how good it is. Do you still cry everytime?

Yes, but as you know I cry quite easily over movies and other things I wish I didn't. It's not an ugly cry like The Notebook though. Do you?

Ah yes Big Fish, Tim Burtons attempt at an art house film. Frankly I wasn't impressed.
Does it make Tim Burton's Mt. Rushmore? Not a chance in hell. His is Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
For Ewan McGregor I would got Trainspotting, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Black Hawk Down, and Moulin Rouge. I guess you could put Big Fish in there if that is your thing.

Maybe he was just a producer on the project? Oh well, put Sleepy Hollow in that slot instead.

Tim Burton IS Nightmare Before Christmas. Go back to the schoolyard, PI. Brock Lesnar is great.

It’s literally called Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. He didn’t direct it, but it’s his movie. That’s why his name is in the title!

I had Man on Fire and Ghost on my list, both completely fantastic movies for absolutely different reasons.
I feel like not enough people have seen Man on Fire which is pretty unfortunate because it’s easily one of my favourite Denzel Washington movie.
Ghost of course is a classic. That pottery scene with unchained melody playing in the background 👌🏼 Perfection. Cry every time when he’s like ‘you take the love with you’. Patrick Swayze was a gift to the world.

1. Nightmare Before Christmas is stupid. 2. He didn’t direct it. If you think Nightmare Before Christmas is stupid, you definitely don't want to watch Big Fish.
Then again, I did think it would be a movie you love due to its similarity with Forrest Gump.
In any case, it is one of the worst movies of all time. At least it's not as popular as Gump though.
I'm probably just convincing you to try watching it by being against it, but I can't help it! I hate Big Fish! and Gump!

Add one more to the “Booo I don’t like Big Fish” club. But I don’t generally enjoy Burton.

🤯 would you like to get Wife on here to defend her #1? LOL I think she already made her post for 2020? We'll have to wait until 2021. At best I'm okay with Big Fish, but I honestly can't tell anymore if that's because of it's own merits or because of Wife loving it. Generally speaking, I'm not a Tim Burton fan at all... So I'm guessing I'm only okay with it because of Wife. Thinking on it, it's hard not to confuse it with memories from Notebook and Water for Elephants. The fact it placed higher than Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Matchstick Men though means there are others who have more splainin' to do.

Yes it was Wizard of Oz , good guesses by all. It was hard finding clues that didn't make it obvious but I was hoping the 1957 would throw some people off along with the fact they expected it to be higher.
And it should be. Crazy that it's estimated to be the most watched movie of all time but between the showings on TV which was an event every year , hell I'm old enough to remember the annual Wizard of Oz on TV being a HUGE deal and watching it as a family. Then you throw in special edition releases on all the platforms over the years and now 4K and Blu Ray and it makes sense.
It's such a special movie too and loses none of it's magic over 81 years of being out. There was a point in time where I loathed it because of my younger brother watching it 8 times a day but being years removed and looking it at ... it's great. The story is a simple one , the characters all have their faults but are also likable in their own way. The music and score is fantastic and it's ultimately beautiful to look at. I don't think there's a single fault with the movie. Great hero and great villain too.
Even though I only had it at 80 - it should definitely be higher than here.

I've seen Wizard of Oz a handful of times. We own an anniversary edition of it and by 'we' I mean mom. It isn't one I've revisited since Caycee was a girl and I wanted to introduce her to it so it did not make my personal list although it definitely belongs fairly high on a list of 100 Greatest Films.

I absolutely adore Wizard of Oz. It’s probably my wife’s second favorite movie. However it should be stated that she also hates it because she lives the books so much and the movie just butches the book so bad. The ruby slippers aren’t actually ruby. Think they are crystal or silver or something in the book. As many times as she’s told me you’d think I would have remembered.
Wizard of Oz May have been my first film to see. Either that or Ten Commandments. This is back when ABC would show them both on Sunday nights. Ten Commandments in the spring around Easter and Oz in the early fall around October. It was a huge thing in the early eighties before home video really took off.
There is just something special about this film. I still feel like I’m drawn into that world when I watch it. Despite having seen it probably 30-40 times, I still get caught up in whether they’ll make it. That witch still scares me. I empathize with Dorothy and her little dog too! The Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man being the magical embodiment of three men that we only see in ONE SCENE but still know it’s them is something pure at heart.
At the time the color in it was just breathtaking. The songs are out of this world. Albeit I should also confess that one of them absolutely terrifies me. When they leave the forest the song that goes “you’re out of the forest, you’re out of the woods, you’re out of the dark” or whatever it is.. scares the dickens out of me and I just don’t know why. It was cool to see that song used in Sooranos for Tony’s dream of dying in a car wreck and how it affected him. Immediately connected with thy guy based off of an unnatural fear of a song from WoOz.
Why else can I say?
I put it #97 on my list.. which every time I look at the list I verbally say out loud .. “that’s way too low” but I trust that gut feeling I had when I did the list and said it’s mostly just nostalgia. In any case.. I love this movie and it could have fallen anywhere 4-100 on any other day and I wouldn’t have thought twice about it. Such a spectacular movie and the embodiment of why people should make movies and transport us into a fantastical place where we can forget a not so fantastic reality.
