Not a major issue at all, but announcing a time limit for every match is just stupid.

Some weeks Dark has 10+ matches in an hour. None of those matches are going to go anywhere near the 20 minute time limit. They wouldn't be able to fit all the matches in!

The main event on Dynamite was announced as having a 60 minute time limit but there was only 20 minutes of the show left. Are we expected to believe the TV station will just allow the show to overrun by up to 40 minutes? Or is the world title match going to end off-air? It's silly!

Have a time limit as a stipulation for particular matches if you want, but QT Marshall vs some local random isn't going to go the distance!

Maybe that's why WWE went away from that nonsense, much like ranking systems... these things only ever work in theory. Too much of a headache to oversee.

You all wait until QT vs local jobber goes the full hour...

The time limit was pushed very strongly by Jim Ross as soon as he was brought onboard as one of the most important things for a wrestling show to have. He talked about it in length at the time. His reasoning was that it makes no sense that the wrestlers would just be allowed to keep going forever, specifically because there would obviously not be enough time on the show to accommodate any potential match length of every match.

I kind of agree with this. That said, announcing a 40 minute time limit when there is 20 minutes left of the show sounds pretty stupid and like a failure to follow the point of the time limit in the first place.

AEW has announced in the past for such main events that if it hits TV time, they will continue the match off the air and show it later or post it online. That doesn't really make sense for them to do though since obviously the show should contain the entirety of the main event. Why would they plan for it to have a 40 minute time limit and only allot 20 to it?

I would agree that it was a good move for WWE to move away from it because they were not competent enough to have it actually make sense. Trying to make sense often backfires if you're too dumb to manage it properly. It sounds like the same is likely true of AEW.

NJPW have always had time limits and it has always made sense. Because they aren't fools.

They keep putting championships on Karl Anderson. NJPW can't be that clever.

They make a lot of mistakes, but comparing NJPW to WWE/AEW is like comparing a clock that is a few minutes off to a clock that doesn't even have any batteries in it.

To be fair WWE also put gold on him so they're hard-rs even more.

As much as I enjoyed AEW, shit like this is exactly why it was incredibly frustrating and why I made this thread. I miss a lot of the roster on there, but perhaps it's for the best I haven't been able to keep up with it. An ideal situation for me would be if every good athlete in AEW switched to NJPW. Lance Archer and Moxley are always at their best during the G1. Others would probably shine there too.

What I am concerned about is that Jericho wants to work with him and we know what his track record is like of late.
