Maybe they based this off a move Kevin Steen(Who works for WWE, not AEW) named but yeesh, how did this make it to the final product. The move Brock Lesnar infamously made famous is called the very disease that nearly killed him.

I get not everyone can be in the game, especially the first game, but not having The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) in it sucks.

Actually, some of the omissions are weird to me, like Scorpio Sky being in it, but no Christopher Daniels or Frankie Kazarian? I mean surely being one-half of the first-ever AEW tag team champions, should have been reason enough for Kazarian to be considered for the game? Sure he's back in Impact Wrestling, but being one-half of the first-ever AEW tag team champions, surely makes him "an important part of the company's history".

The roster is largely based off AEW circa 2021/22 when Scorpio was TNT Champion so naturally he's getting in before Kazarian.

I think they've nailed the roster. When you think about AEW during that period, they've got all the core guys.

What makes the Uno omission weirder is he is the guy who is doing the promotional stuff for the game, since he basically runs AEW Games.

So review embargo is still up and the game is available in a few hours. Not a good sign at all. Reviews of the pre-release build were very mixed. Sounds like there are a lot of great ideas, but a lot of rough edges.

What meta score are you predicting c?

I'm expecting it to be a swimming in 7s, so around low 70s. I expect the throwback to SYM/HCTP/DOR to appeal to reviewers, but it just won't have the polish to earn a strong recommendation.

Good call Big Pete , IGN gave it a 6/10 which is not good given IGN is a borderline fluff gaming news outlet and all.

I was thinking reviews would be around a 50 metascore, seems to have done better than I expected.

My take is wait on this and get it on sale and it may be a fun game. At full price you are crazy to get this over the WWE game though.  Not sure how much post launch development will be done either since this game came in WAY over time, so it may simply not get fixed.

The comments on the socials aren't spectacular.

Obviously a lot of the feedback is around the graphics.

And the typical response is " it's meant to look like that "

I don't think the graphics are necessary bad - they're at that creepy WWE PS3 level where it's sort of realistic looking enough over the previous generation but everyone odd at the same time.

I think either commit to the realism or go all in on the somewhat cartoony / Pixar look.

Game play issues apparently also.

Look, just buy a 3 year old copy of a WWE game for $20 and you'll find half the AEW roster on it. Mod and download the AEW arenas and you'll have a quality alternative.

But if it's under the $50 mark, for a physical game I'll buy it and try it.

The game does look fun despite having flaws, but for me, if you pay $60 for a game in this economy it should be a polished game that you get at least 60 hours of gameplay from. This game clearly is not polished and even waiting two weeks may see it become a better game if bug fixes are done. Wait a bit longer you can likely get it cheaper. I am on PC so I expect to get it at $30 or less before the end of the year. At $15 or $30 game become more worth it despite the flaws.

I do find some of the review complaints about how hard it is to figure things out hilarious as the stuff the reviewers said was too confusing, I am watching Maxel and Wolfie do with no problem on stream, like turnbuckle moves or getting weapons. Reviewers struggled but literal children having no issues.

Curiosity got the best of me, and I bought it.

It sucks.

The game play is painful.

And the roster looks a lot smaller than in real life.

Visually and game play combined, it looks like when Hollywood makes a bogus looking fighting game to be part of the background in a movie and they don't want to pay the royalties to use a real one.

I'll try another match and see if it improves.

Initially the game wouldn't load and it was having " connecting to AEW FF " issues and I then decided to play it in off-line mode after resetting the console.

It plays like a Nintendo 64 game and it looks like a PS2 game.

These aren't good things.

There's no way this game is worth $90, let alone the additional price for Matt Hardy & FTR.

It's not a bad Day of Reckoning/Shut Your Mouth homage. My only issue with it is they didn't fully commit and signatures/abilities make it feel like later WWE games.

If 🤯 is somehow reading this in the ether, avoid it. This is AKI at home and is missing all the hallmarks of that series. Striking, which is actually a huge part of the game, sucks in comparison to the N64 games and no matter what you hit your opponent with, it feels like you're hitting them with lettuce.

Still, maybe outside of the Switch port, I don't think this is a bad budget title. Who knows, maybe they'll introduce sliders as well so you can actually have something more than a 3 minute sprint, even on Elite difficulty.

One feature I like that I glossed over watching all the footage is that you can actually have a soundtrack playing as the matches go on. If they can mod in the Revenge/Wrestlemania 2000/Day of Reckoning soundtrack, it would bump the game up.

The soundtrack is the only redeemable thing about the game.

There is absolutely no argument anyone can from AEW or their die-hard supporters can make to suggest this game is " meant to be like this "

It looks, plays and is just horrible.

I'm sure in time you could have a solid match. But it's an arcade smash em up brawler, there's no polish on anything, nor does it have all those little bits and pieces even the now oldest of WWE games have in them than make it silky smooth to play.

Maybe the WWE games have lifted the bar so high in terms of detail and game play.... maybe, or maybe this is just terrible.

By the geeks, for the geeks - it's a fail, and hard fail.

It shouldn't be this bad.

From the sounds of it NATH45, I'm probably better off still playing my AEW universe mode in 2K19 still.

But man, I still really want to pick this up.

I suppose the up side, is with 2K19, is I pretty much have the Fight Forever roster and so much more.

Apparently there's a patch coming for PS4 as the unexpected error is popping up everywhere.

Reports are, if you disconnect from WiFi it doesn't crash as much.

I'm just going to return it and tell them I thought it was a WWE game.

I know I've been vocal about AEW in the past, but I really wanted this game to be good.

I returned it and swapped it for the WWE 2K23 game. And was given $30 back.

That's the difference between the two games here, $89 for AEW and $59 for the WWE one. That's insane considering the quality of the two games.

And considering AEW Fight Forever feels like something you'd download for an iPad.
