I only had that happen on one occasion, was a wrestler known for being stuff and turns out he was trying to shoot on me. Keep in mind said wrestler is old enough to be my dad…so I didn’t realise. He also spent 6 and a half hours playing the pokies (slot machines) before our match so I feel like he lost a fortune that day 🤣.

He also told me to fuck off after the match and had a massive dummy spit. Turns out he was upset we didn’t give him much for the match (it was a tag team)…didn’t I mention he was playing the pokies for 6 1/2 hours while we planned the match?

I don’t mind working stiff if the other person can take what they dish out, Syd Parker laid his stuff in but I did the same and he didn’t complain. most rather that than stuff looking light.

Most just politic backstage to fuck you over rather than anything physical or to your face.




c I met Corino a year or so after said incident took place, I didn’t know at the time so I thought I just confused him but clear he couldn’t hear what I was asking.

Not gonna lie the one two of that happening and my friend getting his jaw just shattered from a stray lariat in one of his first matches killed wrestling for me for years. Was why I stopped watching RoH and just watch CHIKARA for a decade.

The injury is bad on tape, but far worse live as he was down for a long, long time. Shortly after the match the ring flooded with backstage people as it was not entirely clear what happened, while people were heckling it was a lame work as Corino struggled to stand. Then the EMTS came and they were in the ring for a long time. Idiots still were heckling.

Finally after the match it was time for Low Ki vs Maff, and Ki knocks Maff out legit 5 min in and Gabe says enough is enough shuts the down show and clears the arena.

What I was told later is Corino lost hearing totally in that ear and will not get it back.  Was part of my friend's lesson on why you never slap someone on the side of the head, since they did not realize we were at the show and he was slapped in front of us.

We are going back to the original venue, only stopped because of renovation. Going to be a massive pain to get the ring upstairs but it’s do-able.

Same card & roster just back to a much better venue.

Oh god. Levi McDaniel is from the western side of the state. (He may actually be from Nebraska) I know of his reputation of being on some less than reputable shows and getting on the nerves of the reputable promoters. Never actually met the guy. Just heard of his legend. No knowledge of the other guy mentioned.

Probably for family/friends 2-3 matches. More so in my case because I wasn’t going over. I got thrust into some high-profile matches with big names on the Aus indies straight off the bat which garnered me enough heat let alone going over said talents.

My 4th ever match was in a tournament to potentially win the top belt in our promotion and friends were upset I didn’t win. I know they don’t get paying your dues etc and just want to see me win but still a bit frustrating.


It becomes a bit like being a local DJ that posts “big things are coming every week” but the saying is true no one supports you like strangers on the internet.

In a rare event I not only went over last night

I took zero bumps and got the biggest payday I’ve ever had,

Kneepads help tremendously and you really shouldn’t wrestle without them. I ordered what I thought was new kneepadS and only found out 2 hours before this match that I only ordered a kneepad. So I pulled a Nash and didn’t actually take any bumps in this match :lol:

Elbow pads help too but they do hinder you, make your arms look smaller and just get in the way. I’ve had no major issues wrestling without them.

System are you still considered "ring crew" or is everyone kinda still on that level unless they're a marquee talent? I.e. you don't see "Hollywood" Mercer grabbed the red metal toolkit.

Everyone is expected to do ring crew except international talent, James Storm helped though because he is a top bloke. Mercer does ring crew.
Though only a handful of us go to promoter’s house and pack/unpack the ring. Unpacking the ring at 12am after a long day is exhausting but rewarding once it’s all over.


It’s the same offenders every time who conveniently need a haircut on show day or are attending lunch for their goldfish then leave as soon as they get their hotdog. I understand if they don’t live local but I’d rather it just be the same crew every time & get paid a little bit extra rather than people finding excuses every time.

Nah top belt is the KWE Championship, currently held by Morgan Rose as they just unified the Kingdom & Elite championship.

(As I’ve explained before tag team used “elite wrestling” since the late 2000s, really should have copyrighted).

The 600 Championship makes the cardinal mistake of teasing something cooler than it delivers. It conjures up a mental image of endless Yokozuna vs. Loch Ness matches and that is the world I want to live in.

May have already touched on it (I may have even asked already) but how much control do you have over your moveset? Or on the indies is it not really regulated until you get "moves of doom" over? Just don't use another guy's shit? Is it based on character or do you have a basic set that you can do without much botching?

So what normally happens is we have a meeting then go through the finish of each match to check there is no double ups, not so much as to have different movesets but check multiple matches don’t have the same ending. EG too many screwy finishes on a show, too many submissions etc.

Like for example I was working a rumble doing my usual cowardly heel shtick and one of the other heels asked me to see if I was already doing it so he had to nix his spot.

Only issues I’ve seen with movesets is the most popular Indy moves out. The super kick, dive and cannonball. Girl came in (who to be fair was a bigger name) asked one of the guys not to use the cannonball as it was hers. Stuff seniority the dude was a fat guy = he should get it rather than her skinny ass.

Also had a meeting about everyone doing dives on the show, then the person who complained did the only suicide dive on the show. So some times it’s pretty easy to see it’s just for political motivation.

As for my own moveset I only have like 4 main moves but especially now I’m heel it’s mostly just crowd work through my matches than take 827272 dragon suplexes and kicking out at 2.

Going off the general thread, chops? Is it all a shoot? And do the ones that make a pop hurt worse?
