Saw a few people talking about this in another thread and figured why not make it super official. I'm sure 99% of these were already shared over the years (especially if you were on a certain HACK'S podcast), so in a lot of ways it'll probably just be a review but for some it'll be like revealing it for the first time.
I first truly got into the IWC around 2004. I had been a fan for several years and had the internet obviously, but I never dove deep into the culture. I think I found the "main site" on a whim by typing in the address to see if it worked. Weirdly enough it did along with all the spyware and such. Had to reformat the PC a few times especially because my household had the very stable Windows ME. And I think we dealt with that until they finally upgraded YEARS later. It was a trainwreck.
I lurked for a bit until I signed up in 2005 as my normal internet username, radishman. That name has an origin story all it's own, but the only person that really knows of it's existence is Lony so I won't talk about it. I think I had 20-30 posts before I got BANNED for posting the LEAKED NUDES of Christy Hemme's Playboy shoot. Some hard-R named @chris said it was a bannable offense, but was also kind enough to NOT tell me to edit the post. Thanks a lot asshole.
So I pulled a KING KID and created a new username called PK_Ness, which eventually got shortened to just Ness. A name I can no longer access. I see KING KID is back to his name, but not me. I feel like that Indian guy in the famous meme clip... how can she slap? I chose Ness because I was still completely obsessed with Super Smash Bros. and it felt like a "unique" name unlike something lame like Link or #1fan. It is a PW EXCLUSIVE name. So much that PW now owns the rights to it after it was stolen from me. WTF. But yeah I only ever used the Ness name for PW, everywhere else I'm either my original name or some combination of it. So what's your PW origin story? How did you find the site... did you sign up as your current name... let's see who has the most seniority and who is a 🤯.

I was super young and wanted to do some sort of fictional wrestling without the physicality. Signed up for some random site where we got to role play and create a wrestler for us and was banned after my first match for losing even though I felt my hype and storyline was better then my opponents. I’M NOBODIES JOBBER!
Said fuck that site and found another. A site that would surprise you to know wasn’t the first to ban me. I was being cancelled before it was a thing. Anyways; that’s when I found PW and I found TKOW!
So I came here for that and was The Kid and was in some matches and then TKOW died and I found something better. Fan Fic! That’s when I started KWF and you all know that story. I got made by @kidjericho who said I was the next Phenom and put together a Hall Of Fame career through MULTIPLE bans. Legendary wrestling Fan Fic and then there was LIFE where I introduced the real me.
PW also introduced me to the IWC and that’s where I found out how wrestling really works behind the scenes. I also remember the Adult Forum and that creep Howard. Still preferred downloading 15 pornos at once on Napster or Morpheus and wait an hour plus for one to be downloaded. Cable modem sucked.
One of my fondest memories was Roo making me a fake report card through his A&G skills because I was flunking bad but had to show my parents something so we made it realistic. A decent 80 average with no fails. Thank you Roo for saving me an ass beating back then.
But yeah. Met awesome people, a few assholes but at the end of the day; we are a family and it’s been dope.

Think I'm at like 16 years? Give or take. Kind of a noob compared to the lot of you though it looks like I signed up around the same time as Ness. Found it because I got back into a wrestling kick , was on OWW a lot looking up dumb shit on old and new wrestlers , then I got bored with that so I googled professional wrestling sites and I think PW popped up. Signed up and lurked mostly but started getting in on the HoW discussion and sometimes the Raw parties which BACK IN MY DAY were the place to be and a mile a minute and it was sort of hard to integrate being a n00b. I remember there being an obsessed Spirit Squad dude in the all the time (not LilSlimShady) and he was pretty funny. Still though my main early memories are from HoW and wanting to do so many project. I remember me and Gorilla Monsoon (not the OT Monsoon) coming up with tournaments and such. Countdowns were a thing of the future but the tourneys were a lot of fun and seemed to go over well. I also remember competing in my first draft and it was pretty stupid ... two straight drafts you just drafted a roster of 20 wrestlers and people voted on who's 20 wrestlers they liked best. I thought of an idea where you draft your roster AND THEN make a card afterwards and it went over really well and clearly is adopted today as the only way to go. NOTE: I didn't go into fanfic back then so that kind of draft may easily predate me , but it certainly didn't in HoW , or at least wasn't done that way for the first year I joined. Eventually I wandered my way into the Sports Empire , even though football was and always will be my first love and I like talking about it I kind of just avoided it. I was already a part of another football forum regularly and thought no way could these "wrasslin fans" match the kind of in depth discussion we had there. It was far more of a casual discussion than what I was used to , at the old board we had threads on damn near every game and the offseason was insane with full 7 round mock drafts and arguing over a fringe UDFA... it was stupid and we really knew nothing. Though I remember drafting as the Packers and nailing like their 5th round pick out of the blue which was incredible. Anyways I found a home their mainly and stayed there and in wrestling for the most part , never visited OT or Nerdery , rarely was in Entertainment either. Then TNA came and it was wars. Coco was insane , Todd was insane and I kind of joined their side in the anti-TNA debates. It wasn't so much that I hated TNA than their fans were obnoxious and would come to the party threads a lot and talk down the WWE in comparison while their cool little impact threads still didn't warrant separate threads. Few blow ups off and on , Star unfairly banned me once sticking up for her cronies but it was only for like three days or something. To be fair , I skated by on a few should be bannings with my eruptions so whatever. I've been out a few times for breaks and life , usually with the ups and downs of wrestling but the older I got the more I thought of the place as a home and the best place to kill time. Contributed more and more as I got married and had kids and my social life went out the window. Fucking kids. Then I was modded for probably the last year there or so , maybe a bit longer. Fun fact: From what I remember reading in the mod room thread Easy was against it but IM and someone else ( @admin ?) stuck up for me. In Easy's defense I did just have a pretty bad and petty bullshit argument in one of the party threads. Then the board went down , I followed @admin here and the rest is history. We may not have the same community , the 30+ pages of random Raw party threads , the contention and personalities that led to more interesting debates but we have a commitment to PW and each other to stick this out until we are old and gray. Or in IM's case ... older and grayer. Also over here I think is where I really interacted with 🤯 more. For better or worse. Annoying man child.

2003, and like any teenager at that time, I was trying to look up photos of hot wrestling chicks on the internet.
I saw the PW site had some through the forums. And after that, I saw other interesting things on here, like show parties, and fan fiction. And I stuck with it until now.
Started off as Hulkamania84, had a short spell as Bret's Hit Man, and now as good ol' CM Punk'd. I've had quite a good run.

Been around for 20 years or so now. Brian Anthony told me he used to post in OT and told me to check it out after the tiny forum I was part of prior shutdown. Joined around the time nazzer was modded. Did not post much then the board went down and was rebooted to a vb board. After the reboot I became more active when I could no longer work.

I was really into the main site after ign’s wrestling news section went down. They used to have an 800 hotline that would tell you PPV results, rumors, etc. which was a godsend in a world of 56k modems (This might’ve been when I had to go to the library to use the internet). That was around the time of the nWo, etc. One of my first days after moving to college in August of 01 I saw the discuss link and clicked it and signed in. I was a pretty hardcore wrestling person at the time and came for that, but it didn’t take too long to become way more interested in the new off topic section. Then the WWE put the belt on Hogan in 2002 and I swore off wrestling but stayed at PW.
My interest has gone up and down since then, but is still my most visited internet site.

Just like mikec, I used to get my wrestling news from IGN as well. When they closed that off, I literally googled prowrestling news and found my way to PW. Lurked for quite a while in 2001 until I finally signed up as Foosball Pharaoh. I was (and still am) a foosball god. Posted with the OG OT crowd, mikec, Kilroy Evans, SamEyeAm, Theend, Alona, RASTeRMAN, huntersmominva, Dundada77, Johnny Canuck, amanda, Xenite, Joey , Colonel Joe, I am the Icon, Kool Aid Man, Caffeine Boy, The Governor, the Crip and Opi show, Bret Hart's Number 1 Fan (who later became TIMY) DKAHUNA, thespot of course, our lord with all the power nazzer. The non-existent MannyPRO/GR8MANNY, plus former owner YuriyPRO, and the original heel LanceStorm2k and the original wannabe heel Saggy. I posted maybe 3-4 times in the wrestling forum before I realized it was a cesspool (remember this was 2001) and moved exclusively to OT. I still watched wrestling here and there up until maybe 2005 or so. I do watch the Royal Rumble every year. So every year I say WHO THE HELL IS THAT. Then a year later I'll be like, oh yeah, I remember Braun Stroman (or whatever the hell his name is). Wow, what a trip down memory lane that only like two of you will remember mikec theendOriginal avatar:

I do like the idea of "checking in" with wrestling via the Rumble. Gives you a good snapshot on who the stars are without needing to invest 100s of hours.

This is a fun thread, I love PW history. As I said in the TV countdown I got dragged to the forums from the main page trying to find out what making out meant. My incredibly n00b first username was "Rock Smells the WWF Title" which relatively quickly became Hardyz Rule. I'm glad that it's all been wiped from existence because I'm sure the majority of my posts as a pre-teen were highly awful. I remember making early friends with posters like Goo, nWo Angel and Taylor - we used to chat on MSN and were in an e-fed together which I believe was called GWF. My character was a terribly uncreative version of Jeff Hardy and I remember getting upset that the guy who ran it booked me to lose most matches even though I'm now sure my promos warranted it. I recall there being quite a lot of turnover of the regular crew around say 2004 when some of the names that Foos posted receded a little bit and a new/younger group came into OT. My posting dropped off around that time because I was coming into the final years of high school and had more homework, played a lot of sport, and wrestling was no longer the cool new thing in my life. Around this time I would have moved into posting mainly in the WoW forum with kingoftheworld and our Trish vs Lita rivalry where we'd constantly post screencaps and (tiny) gifs of favourite beating up the other. The WoW community got bigger and bigger over the next few years and our rivalry gave way to the much more toxic one between the Melina and Mickie fans. It was out of that that I started talking to LS who became my biggest PW friend - we spent years chatting to each other virtually daily and got up to all sorts of shenanigans which I remember hugely fondly. Like all forums WoW obviously isn't anywhere as active as it used to be, and unfortunately I don't have anyone that I'm as passionate about as in years gone by, but I still enjoy posting with dex and surrender in particular. At a similar time I started getting into the NFL more after going to a 49ers game on a trip to the US. I lucked into the two Giants Super Bowl wins early in my fandom and although it took me a while to get into the Sports Empire group as I learned more about the sport I quickly realised that most of the guys were really pretty clueless and I could provide better analysis than most! In the last couple of years it's really risen to become my #1 passion, I would have watched roughly 100 games this past season, and although they occasionally drive me up the wall, we've got a fun group to chat ball with and as Blindy has pointed out, it's pretty wild that we make significantly longer threads every NFL Sunday than any wrestling event.

I forgot what board I went to back in 2004 for wrestling but some quickly banned poster put the link here and I lurked as a guest for about 6 months until I became {The Judge}(No idea why the name) before I settled on Blindsided back in 2005 and everyone dubbed me Blindy so shortened it years later. Without that random poster putting the link on that forum that day, I would have never found PW at all. I went from WWE forum exclusively to dipping my feet into the water that was the Sports forum which I was proud to be apart of the transformation of the Sports Empire where he combatted against TEAM CREATIVITY~! at one of the PW Wrestlemanias. I remember reading KING KID , pduh , mikec and a few others when I was coming into my own. Dr Detfink, Shark Boy, ORaider27, Artie, Agent Bond, Communism, Original Higga, Doc, theprospekt, Gabe/Slade, Nova, Sweetness_Bolt, SheltonMysterio,Parth, CIA, Jojo, Mr. Pinchy, ReyRey619, Anglejuggalo69, Clipperlover, Tommy, Travis_Bird, and so many more names. I easily debated or stubbornly posted my NY teams that I still do to this day, some worse than others As I mentioned on PDuh's podcast, the Sports Empire you saw on the old PW was not the one you saw on the MSN chats. THAT was the pure wild, wild west and as a teenager, it was just insane to me what I saw there I visited other places such as (semi) trolling the WOW Forum with the Rosa Mendes fandom that I wanted to take on the entire forum at a PW WM(LMFAO), to consistently posting at V&G at spurts and I still posted in the WWE forum back then but I ran mainly in the Sports Empire. From the 40+ page NY Jets thread that I was so proud to run, to the Sports Empire awards that I ran for a good _________ years(I won Biggest Homer AKA Biggest Fan of the year a few times). Insane I have almost been on PW for like half of my life to being apart of the Knicks forum that Detfink had some funky Manhattan name for. Some other funny moments was the Michael Beasley busted for pot thread that was a meme central to me vs ORaider every other day, including him saying Fred Smoot in 2009 was far superior than Darrelle Revis at cornerback, to my 2009 and 2010 meltdowns of the Jets AFC Title games. Was here for the Mature Forum AKA Howard's cove, the Health&Fitness forum that ORaider tried so hard to make successful that was over on the corner of the Sports Empire, to so much more. I am a bit more chilled now and lack the fire and energy I once had so what you see on the forums is a shell of my former self, especially the sports stuff, I think the misery and losing has completely sucked my passion and fire TBH. The old me would have let loose on some of the Jets stuff, what I am doing now is so tame compared to what I was back then.

Really, probably became part of the IWC around 2003 and joined an Australian forum, wrestling.net.au. And was promptly banned for calling one of the mods a dweeb, or maybe, something far more explicit. Showed back up a few weeks later and banned again for something similar within 6 months. Came back a third time around 2004 and had a lengthy run as the forum anti-hero NATHANONFIRE ( named after classic post-hardcore band Alexisonfire ) WNA was huge at it's peak, and I think I've said before, a number of Australian based wrestlers were on it, and rumour has it, a user by the name of Miss Tennille became a future NXT/WWE/Impact Superstar. Chris Jericho's Australian distribution manager was a member, which meant Y2J made an appearance, posting a photo holding a sign, calling one of the members a " Poof "
I remember the forum dying around the time the Benoit incident happened and by then I had moved onto the splinter forum, The Asylum. There seemed to a never ending game of thrones for leadership on WNA and it fractured the user base.
The Asylum also, simply faded away. It existed in the shadows, had very little outsider traffic nor fed off the demise of WNA, and they also did little in terms of recruitment. Posts became few and far between in the end and with the advent of social media becoming a force, it simply stopped. It still exists, but has had zero activity for years. The only notable thing about The Asylum was, it was frequented by Hart Dungeon trained, ECW/WWF alumni Jason Helton.
I jumped over to PW a few years later is seems, and came in at the tail-end of the original forum's life and I believe followed the links or was shared a link to this one.

I don't know when I joined PW, I think it was 20 years ago. I was: iNCiSiVe aNGeL Then iNCiSiVe Then iNCY
Mostly OT and A&G poster early days. I had a WWF banner I made of a panda hitting Vince with a chair.
I got asked to mod OT and it was hard work for a while there with serial trolls, not even funny ones just people trying to get banned. I made a habit of not banning anyone, I used to just use sarcasm and abuse to enforce justice, may seem weird but many of the posters who went on to be great members would not have survived otherwise. It was like the wild west. I have never really been that popular on PW... Probably because I am an asshole more often than not. But I feel oddly attached to you crazy people. I also have fond memories of many of the posters who have departed, but some of the most popular people I never liked... I enjoy people who are willing to stand for things even when impossible.
I think I eventually made the PW hall of fame.
I handed in the mod thing after the tgo debacle, really bummed me about the whole place. He was also one of the guys I was never a fan of.

I do like the idea of "checking in" with wrestling via the Rumble. Gives you a good snapshot on who the stars are without needing to invest 100s of hours. I used to do that every year , this year was the first year I haven't since joining PW I would imagine. I totally forgot the SE Awards Blindy. It took me awhile to get engrained but eventually I think I took down a few of those. @admin you should have been a part of or seen the insanity on the football board I came from , looking back it was so mundane and pointless the stuff we argued about. I remember when Slowik became the Packers DC in like 03 or 04 and having pages of debate over a mid round defensive end I liked and wanted the Packers to take but this dude Longreign , who was like the senior Packer guy who swore it would be the worst pick ever because "scheme". I wish I could remember the player .. but we took football fandom to a ridiculous level. That's probably why when I first came to PW and the SE every one of my debates and arguments were broken down and multiple paragraphs long. I think it got me recognized but soon and had a lot of similar discussions with ORaider who had a similar style in there but it didn't last and eventually I just conceded to anger and sarcasm like the lot of em.

The first place I ever went online was actually the main site of the old forum because I remembered a caller to this wrestling radio show I listened to saying WWF.com and WCW.com were crap and prowrestling.com was where the real scoopz were. This would have been around August 97 at my local library. My family got the internet a few months later around February 98. I was IWC from day one. Like 98% of my online time during those first 6-8 months was spent in the AOL wrestling community- both the chatrooms and their message board. I had this idea that the main AOL pages were the only safe place on the entire internet. Everything else was a haven for viruses and hackers. Probably got this goofy idea from my parents. After all, these are the same people who swore you were taking your life into your hands if you went swimming immediately after eating. I'm a little foggy on the details, but I think my parents had monthly contracts with AOL and decided not to renew after 6-8 months. Think the idea was AOL would (and did!) offer them a free month, or a cheaper rate, somewhere down the line. This on again/off again internet access went on for about a year and a half. So I would only have sporadic internet access at home. Most annoying thing about this was constantly having to get a new AOL screen name. Most of them were variations on "Garth," which was my nickname from middle school on, or "---Hero," which was a half-sincere/half-ironic homage to a MAJOR AWARD I won. Anyway, by October 98 I started experimenting with those EXTREMELY DANGEROUS non-AOL sites on the school and library computers. 1wrestling.com quickly became my go to destination for wrestling newz and I soon became a regular poster on the APW message board. Stayed there for about a year before moving on to the Strictly ECW message board. Got banned from there in late 2000 after turning on ECW and doubling down on the admittedly obnoxious pro-WWF troll side of my "GarthJackson" persona. I also spent a lot of time reading PW Torch, DeathValleyDriver, Kayfabe Memories, John McAdam's tape page, and the various sites Scott Keith wrote for beginning in 2000. I was more of a lurker than poster from 2001-2007. Only posted about a dozen times apiece on the ROH and DeathValleyDriver forums during this stretch. Around 02-03 I ditched my old Garth and __Hero handles for new ones inspired by a character named Claude Baker from an obscure NES softball game. Became an active wrestling poster again while unemployed in 2007 at OWW, the short-lived 411mania forum, and the equally short-lived WWF.com forums. The latter two soon disappeared and I would get banned from OWW in 2009 because the owner was a tyrannical hardcore Hulkamania while I was an obnoxious and overbearing Hogan hater. We were constantly butting heads and he eventually had enough of my Hogan hating shenanigans. I thought I had finally left wrestling behind me in 2009. Didn't watch at all from 2009-2012 aside from briefly coming back for a month during the 2011 RTWM. Nor did I frequent any wrestling sites or message boards. Spent those years occasionally posting on a variety of extremely non-wrestling related forums. Fast forward to November 2012. Something triggered my ECW memories and I did a search for something ECW related. shinobimusashi's epic "American Hardcore Theater" thread popped up. I thought it was one of the best things I had ever read on the entire internet. Signed up solely to put him over. Ended up sticking around and the rest is history. PW has been my main online home ever since. It's the first site I check when I wake up in the morning and the last one I look at before I go to sleep at night. It's also the first place I go when I'm on break at work and my first stop when I get off work. I check it entirely too many times a day just to make sure I'm not missing any quality content. It's the first place I ever really felt comfortable going all out with my patented long-winded posts. It basically became my outlet for decades worth of thoughts, ideas, and storytimes that I was just dying to let loose upon an unsuspecting world. Historically I'd get bored (or banned) from the various wrestling forums I frequented after a year or two. Not PW. I've been here for over 8 years, and while I do think about leaving from to time, it's likely I'll be here until the bitter end. Something about this community just works for me in a way none of those other forums ever did.

I honestly don't exactly remember when I joined, but I've been around a lot longer than most of you probably think. I remember joining and as most of us did then, frequenting the wrestling forums but I never really posted all that much. I wandered down to Off-Topic, in those days it was Holly Golightly who was the mod, Rusty Brooks was around, Detfink, Brokenlamp, and yes, I do remember the mature forum, and Howard. I don't remember Howard fondly, and I didn't venture into the mature forum more than a couple of times. I pretty much stuck around OT for ages, I was pretty intimidated by the Nerdery then, it's still the case that most people know more than I do, and I didn't want to seem more stupid. OT was a pretty unforgiving place at times, and it's always been the case with me that I read more than I post. I never had the highest post count but I think I've been around longer than a lot of you. Then I started regularly posting in The Nerdery alongside Off Topic but didn't really enjoy posting all that much until I made friends with Monsoon. For ages he was my best friend on the internet, I still talk to him occasionally today and he's a top bloke. Then Froggy, Brezzy, and the rest of the UK crew started posting more and I got to know them too. Then I left PW for ages, I posted on another board where I really got to be good friends with ThreedyPee, Benny, and a few others who used to post on PW but left for there too. The other board is where I met iron maiden and you all know the rest of that. I eventually came back to PW, started posting in VG&T where thanks to Voxtz , I eventually got offered a mod spot and I loved it in there, it was pretty much my PW home. It was such a good vibe, so many great posters and so little hassle. Then I got added to the Nerdery, which was pretty much my dream mod spot and I loved it there while I was there. I think I also somehow got into the PW Hall of Fame, and that was a trip since half the posters have or had no clue who I am . I've made some great friends through PW that I still keep in touch with today and I'm glad for that. Then things offline got a little hard and I stopped posting at all, I left all the boards for a couple of years or so I think before coming back last year and I've been pretty regularly posting since then. As I said above, I've always read more than I post and generally don't post unless I think can add something, or have fun with things. My username has been this, or some variation ever since I joined, I use it everywhere I can and where I can't, it's always my PSN name that I use everywhere. I used to always have an Owen Wilson banner, I was obsessed! I've had Drew banners, Stone Cold, I had a great AC/DC one War Machine made for me - he was always my favourite banner maker, but I still have my favourite Rogue banner and av that Lazer made for me. He was another ridiculously talented A&G guy. So that's it, pretty much I think.

I wasn’t able to watch Wrestlemania 21 live so I went online to look up results and found the original PW and registered as Utopian and started posting some pretty dumb stuff (nothings changed 😒). I posted as SledgeHHHammer, StratusMark and a few names before finally deciding on System.
Didn’t really do much on PW of note until I got into Fan Fic and wrote Death Watch. For those that don’t know it was like an anime/video game death match (they would literally die) fed with a pornstar as the owner 🥴 and Alucard from Hellsing as the main heel. I enjoyed it at the time as did others but I’m glad i don’t have any of it saved as it would probable be cringe 😂. Glad I have my pro wrestling training thread saved though, even though I didn’t originally debut for said company (I did work for them later on though).
Then made the jump to here and have really enjoyed the new board more so than the other.

HR you should have been a part of or seen the insanity on the football board I came from , looking back it was so mundane and pointless the stuff we argued about. There's been plenty of ridiculous arguments here too - I remember Blindy and ORaider constantly going back and forth over Revis vs Asomugha when they were at their peak of their powers and Blindy clinching the big dub when Nnamdi went to the Eagles and flamed out. One of the first I was involved in was with RagnarokMike over Maurkice Pouncey - I got a major nostalgia trip when we got into it over Big Ben during this past season. I also remember being in a lot of discussions with a Giants fan called Heartburn Kid(?) defending Eli - when Big Blue won SB46 it was like years worth of posts had finally paid off.

Yeah I eventually hated Revis years later but that was hysterical.  The Marbury vs Francis shit with Detfink and Tommy was iconic too at the SE.

Oh I remember those debates , but at least they were arguing about actual talented players. Not an overweight defensive end from Texas Tech who was too much of a reach in the 5th round and probably barely made it out of camp. My favorite arguments that I remember coming out on top of pretty early: Aaron Rodgers vs Philip Rivers (there were a few on the other side) and Packers Wide Receivers vs Jets Wide Receivers ( Blindy up to his BS again). We won't recall the 134 arguments I was on the wrong side of.

I don’t recall that , I just know you’re timing couldn’t have been more off since I’m pretty sure that’s the year the 15-1 Packers went on to put up pretty absurd numbers.

The 2014 game in Lambeau Field that Geno Smith was playing good and we had a lead in Week 2 until QTR 4 and the defense bit the dust vs Rodgers. Linsley's first start at center. Mike Daniels was playing out of his mind that game. EDIT: HALFTIME lead oops!

I might have to check that one out on replay. At first I thought you were talking about that super windy game where it was like 10-3 or something. Might have been a Halloween game?

2010! Sanchez SUCKED that game, the defense got wasted. 9-0 final score :laughy: :laughy: That had to be the pinnacle of my Brian Schottenheimer near heart attack posts that had me triggered immensely as an already overwhelmed college student having to watch the RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT playbook that piece of shit offensive coordinator ran.

So after WCW finished up I needed some new Pro Wrestling websites and naturally ProWrestling.com was one of the first ports of call. I used to visit the main site regularly and read all the editorials but it was the RFI Fantasy Show that was the big draw for me. I'm not sure how familiar you guys are with it but it was WCW vs. WWF vs. ECW if it was booked in 2002 and they were constantly hot-shotting everything to out-do each other. I remember ECW had an Eric Bischoff called Hydra made up largely of WWF and WCW heels terrorising the likes of Christopher Daniels and all the big name indie talent. Also the WWF writer had a massive hard on for The Patriot and was pushed to the moon for reasons. Regardless it was a fun read that kept me coming back. Eventually I stumbled on the forum in 2002. I remember keeping up with the results of Survivor Series 2002 through the PW Party thread and how outraged fans were over the poo brown tights - it was damn near Shockmaster levels of reactions. I'd like to think it was nazzer (it was somebody with a Taz avatar) who said it was the most embarrassing thing he'd seen since he farted during sex. I remember HoW seemed to be largely made up of New Generation Era marks which was amazing to me because I had been taught that entire era sucked outside of Bret and Shawn. However there were guys proudly wearing their Diesel, Tatanka and Doink the Clown avatars. That always stood out to me because it seemed like the place was made up of actual fans who enjoyed the product and didn't just go with the flow. c I've told you this before but you made an impact on me at the time. You did an unbelievable job of promoting Sick Nick Mondo as the biggest bad-ass in Pro Wrestling going today to the point where he made my SmackDown: SYM roster. Hayabusa was another guy PW got me into around that time and I remember the impression was that he was Rey Mysterio but better. However I was too young to register so instead of breaking the rules I ended up joining another IGN spin-off board called PalGN which became my internet home. Fortunately that place got scrubbed so my awkward teenage years can't come back to haunt me. I'd check in on PW every 3 years or so when I'd feel nostalgic but I didn't sign up until the wrestling bug bit me in early 2008. I want to say it was around the time CM Punk dressed up as a Mariachi to attack Chavo Guerrero. I signed up in the early hours of the morning, went to bed, forgot about it and got banned a week later for inactivity. So I made a new account not long after and made sure that if ever there was a question on HoW I would chime in every now and then to cover my tracks.
Otherwise I really wasn't that active during my initial years. I largely just read OT and vendrell's life-story - was it a pickel or a cucumber that was his go to? He was one of my favourite posters. I also read Ness' SSB Fan Fic so I don't buy into this 'I was some low tier nobody' act, you were a stand-out. I was just as much a TNA fan as a WWE fan by that point, so I used to enjoy whocares' break-downs until TNA clearly plateud and any enthusiasm he had for the show was clearly gone - it actually became sad to read.
I still kept some distance from a lot of the WWE board because it just seemed to be made up of silly kliqs fighting over their stature on the forum - it was so absurd to me. There was a fine line with a lot of the stuff up there where at first it came across as endearing and they were clearly having fun talking about Raw circa 2009 and then cringe when it would break into some West Side Story showdown. Again usually some posters took themselves way too seriously, but every now and then some of the meltdowns were hilarious. Typically it involved somebody shitting on the product getting caught up in a bad argument that everybody tore into and then they'd get caught talking trash on another board and it would erupt again. As silly as it was, there were definitely times where the Party Thread was way more entertaining than the show they were discussing.
One poster who really stood out to me around this time was The Industry. He maybe my favourite troll in the history of the internet because he'd say some provocative shit but then make really compelling arguments. He looked at Pro Wrestling at a completely different level which inspired me to check out places like PWO where they'd really break down a performance. It was always fun logging on after work and finding the board in complete disarray after an Indy drinking session. 3 posters would be banned, there would be about 5 new pages in all these threads - it was like that Donald Glover community meme.
The wrestling bug bit me in late 2010 after stumbling across Justin.TV and their Attitude Era/WCW 94 marathons and I started to engage more typically on the WWE board. I remember things really started to heat up around the return of The Rock and the board was split on who they were going for. I remember there would be pages spent on who won whatever promo battle and whether The Rock was deliberately throwing it. Usually the conversations were pretty insightful but in true PW fashion it would resort to name-calling if one member couldn't mount a decent argument.
Shinobi joined around that time and at first I thought he was going to be just another MOGUNS who would spam every modern WWE thread about how great the 90s were. The guy had the gall to ask for an ECW board, ECW had been dead for 10 years at that point! Move on! I largely just ignored him and then he started writing American Hardcore Theatre and it changed the entire forum for me. I felt like the posters that came in checked their egos at the door and there seemed to be more understanding and sharing of ideas.
I was still enjoying my time on PW right up until the end when the website became that broken I couldn't even make a post anymore. It took months for them to sort that out and it really killed my enthusiasm. I'm still surprised this place is still around after all these years and it's a real testament to the regulars who keep turning up and making great post after great post. It's definitely been a great resource to have, especially during the pandemic, even with the industry in the shape it's currently in.

The Industry was great. Mayweather being the best performer in the company, Chris HHHero some of the PW memes I associated with him all the time. There were a couple of those posters who were on a mission to say the unpopular things. Just Plain Cunt was another standout for me.....outside of his Boston sports loving. He was someone who always tipped the edge of something but never did enough to get any punishment. The WWE forum always had these posters like Benoitmark or AmDrag who were absolute beasts in the Smark Forum where they took such pride to break down second by second wrestling matches from guys like Benoit or Angle or Danielson and why it is so superior compared to everything else. Shame what happened with Benoit essentially shattered Benoitmark IIRC and not sure what happened to AmDrag and his bouncing Mirko Cro Cop avatar of goodness I stood in the vanilla WWE forum conversations, my psyche/ring psychology just wasn't there for the Smark forum. It was pro wrestling overload, good for those who were so into that but my goodness.

Can't recall many details but The Patriot rings a vague bell because I thought he was a completely made up character at the time. Who knows why this has stuck in my brain, but the only other thing I can remember is that Big Show was in the main event scene and had War Pigs by Black Sabbath as his entrance music?

I couldn't imagine getting involved in one of those arguments anymore. Remember how back in the day somebody would write a 1000 word post about why they thought Angle/Michaels was the greatest match of all-time and then somebody like Indy would break the post down with 50 quotes and write a 2000 word response? That stuff was so cancerous back in the day. I was more into his Jerry Lawler > Kurt Angle arguments and John Cena being the franchise. John Cena actually having passionate supporters was a trip but something I came to enjoy about PW. I also remember the Rosa raid of WoW and it was about as successful as Retribution. hr and LS went all Bruiser Brody and completely no sold that nonsense. I always liked WoW, I avoided it for awhile thinking it'd be this creepy board filled with pervs but the match analysis was actually shockingly good considering what they had to work with. Essentially went in expecting dirty lesbian porn wrestling write-ups, came away with a new found appreciation for Pro Wrestling.
With a name like JPC you knew what you were going to get. I had the same impression of him as well, he'd say something really abrassive but I don't remember him being overly aggressive about it he'd just say it to get it out of his system. He'd probably be banned for it now
What was the deal with merle? I vaguely remember him but I can't remember why he rubbed people up the wrong way...was he a crotchety old guy like or something else?
