They are brutal to Mickie. All good for Mickie though, he becomes a badass on his own and ends up with a different companion of the Doctor. But yeah Doctor so steals his girl.

I don't think I can ever be sold on it myself. I have some friends who swear by it. I've given it a few tries but it's laughably bad from what I have seen.
I have a lot of love/respect for British IP's, too: Harry Potter, Brit comedy like Python/Darkplace/IT/Boosh, a whole bunch of their music as well - but I'll never understand the love that Dr. Who gets at all.
I'd rather watch Star Trek and I was raised by a Trekkie fanatic who ruined any possible kind of fandom for me. But at least S.T. is slightly practical at times and doesn't involve Doc Brown meets Clark Kent taking on evil bipedal vacuum sweeper aliens.

I think the one who I always saw as the Dr was Matt Smith. Whenever I'd see imagery of it tended to be him. Maybe he was the current one at the height of BBT. Always borderline hated his face, so that instantly turned me off on the show. I get the feeling he'll probably be my favorite in the end since the few clips I've seen of his have left an imprint in me more so than full episodes with "1" and "2". Also are they just gonna cuck the "boyfriend" the whole time? First episode I saw (s2e1) Rose kisses him and then is fawning over the doctor. Legit thought the kiss was just a good-bye greeting. Then s2e3 he joins and she's made because she doesn't have the doctor to herself. I start over and in the first episode doctor basically steals his gf "he's not invited". Brutal af. They do this often since the reboot, Rory is a total cuck also when you get to him. Wilfred is the best companion though.

But at least S.T. is slightly practical at times and doesn't involve Doc Brown meets Clark Kent taking on evil bipedal vacuum sweeper aliens. It's kinda like pro wrestling in that way; it usually ranges from kinda bad to pretty decent, sometimes it's cringe but when it's great there is nothing else like it.
Your personal experience might also be a function of the episode(s) you watched -- can't speak for traditional Who but the modern reboot is rooted in Video on Demand (don't quite want to say binge) where you can have season long arcs. Showrunner will script the first and last episode of the season, maybe one or two in between and the rest is done by other writers. Sometimes they're great, sometimes they're awful. "Blink," possibly the standout one-off episode of the relaunch, is one such filler episode. But you'll also get an episode with farting aliens so it's pretty hit or miss.

I'm at the farting aliens.
Honestly while some are better than others, so far I've only found 1 episodes I wasn't thrilled with. Obviously over 10 odd seasons I don't see that ratio lasting.

Yeah that is def a Who thing. Some episodes just are misses and do not advance the overall plot at all. This expands to some entire seasons are bad or some entire Doctors.

Rory was cucked at first, but then like Mickie became a badass when he took on the Last Centurion role. My favorites two companions are Donna and River. Donna because she was just a hot mess of attitude and fun and River because she was the first one to really try to capture what a companion to a time traveler would actually be like, with history being very different between the two.

Jack def gets a ton more interesting when you get into Torchwood. Amy was a really great companion. Not sure there was a more lovable companion. Cannot believe Karen Gillan slipped under the radar as an actor until she was a companion. Her shaving her head and wearing the hair as a wig so he could Marvel films bald is absolutely insane so clearly they picked a winner of an actor when they grabbed her.

Dalek sighting. This was the first time I've seen what they sound like and do. Their imagery is on par with the tardis. This episode was the best of the bunch I've seen so far. No clue if it's the episode itself or the built in anticipation of finally seeing this thing gave it a few extra *'s, ya know like seeing a great match live. And it's also dawned on me that the dude's going away pretty soon. Like it's gotta suck to get attached to one because now I'm starting to miss him.

This was clearly the post-Hogan/Rock episode. Also I'm afraid. See one of my favorite characters in all of the Arrowverse was Malcolm Merlyn. Two episodes he debuts as Captain Jack and I'm afraid he'll be awesome and then I'll have no choice but to add Torchwood to the list. Baker I didn't really see it in your master post, but what is it about NuWho (always get a kick out of the STIGMA that comes from nu) that you hate so much? Or should I say what is so different about the old stuff? So on the wiki while also trying to avoid as many spoilery things as I can, I noticed they refer to things as serials. I assume that's for the story. If it lasts more than an episode on this one "file", however long that is is a serial? I dunno if 2 episodes is long enough to be an arc. I noticed at least other than the farting aliens so far everything is pretty episodic. They do end up cornered and imprisoned a lot. Also I love the idea behind the lost episodes. Reminds of WWE library and I how I've also assumed it's just a series of VHS tapes and DVDs. iNCY didn't you have a dalek extermination service banner? Advertising for those who hate bowties.

Serials are seasons basically Ness.
Torchwood is indeed awesome. As is Captain Jack.
Two major differences between old Who and new Who. First new Who from real early on said fuck all the established lore. They completely redid lore that was considered like unchangeable for decades sending hardcore people into a rage.
The feel of the show changed too with new stuff being more emotional, deeper companion stories and adding in a lot more romance arcs. Old Who was more action / adventure whereas New Who is like more drama. This is really the whole heart of the "feel" of the show changing, they took the new Who in a much different direction than the Old Who stuff.

Yeah this was one of the episodes I wanted you to see by doing this season. One of the better episodes of the new saga. Also really showcases how savage this Doctor is. Believe it was here too the Doctor reveals he ended the time war by killing everyone involved. This occurs before he regenerates into the 9th doctor, so from his timeline, it was very recent.

The new Doctor Who episodes are more campy and definitely aimed at non casual fans and girls with a crush. The old episodes were more aimed at the hardcore fans. Of all the runs the only ones that annoy me beside the latest... And I am a Jodie Whittaker fan just not as the Doctor. When the Doctor was stuck on Earth with Unit When the Tardis got trapped in E-Space

Not gonna lie, I the Jodie stuff I seen was so bad I just skipped her run entirely. I like her as the Doctor, but GOD the writing is so damn bad.
I would also not take anything being done by Chris Chibnall as canon as Davies is likely to start nixing shit he did not like quick. When he returns he will return to his vision and I think he is willing to undo 8 years of changes if that is what it takes. I expect a soft reboot of the mess of lore that the last two doctors brought.

So from reading I've assumed the older doctor has shit writing and the female one has shit writing and woke bullshit? Noticed the X-mas specials are called Festive for 13. I was sorta planning on watching through Tennet's run, take a breather with other stuff... come back for Smith and then make a decision from there.
Do not like that revelation I read from incy, but I guess by time I get there it might have been retconned anyway.

Capaldi is such a shame because he is one of the best portrayals of the Doctor that there is... But the writing is bad. One of the best stories of all time is coming up for you with Tenant. The End of Time story with the Master is awesome. Matt Smith was an absolutely brilliant Master.

Do not like that revelation I read from incy, but I guess by time I get there it might have been retconned anyway. No woke bullshit; just people angry about the very concept of a lady Doctor in any way, shape or form who wouldn't be happy no matter how she portrayed the character. Just daring to exist brings the frothing rage, and there's no way to placate such people.
Jodie's run as the Doctor has been largely forgettable because Chibnall's writing is largely forgettable, but I don't remember any woke-type scene where Whittaker was all "THAT'S RIGHT, I AM A WOMAN AND AS CAPABLE AS ANY MAN, SUCK IT HATERS." She's just a character in a sci fi show who happens to be a woman, like Captain Janeway in Voyager. There was also never a scene in that series where anyone said anything, positive or negative, about a girl being in charge. She was just a person in a good-concept but poorly written show.
...actually, maybe Voyager is a lot like Whittaker's Doctor Who run now that I think about it. Chibnall's DW is also currently wrecking what were formerly the scariest antagonists in nuWho via overuse.

Many claim the Doctor HAS to be a man, and it was an insult that he could regenerate into a woman. That alone was enough for people to dismiss the show as overly woke. Writing for Capaldi was a let down, particularly after Clara leaves, despite him being amazing, then Jodie's run was just like crap. She had like little to work with. Smith's run was pretty good and Amy Pond was a great companion. I also really liked Clara, thought her story was pretty interesting. And yeah, the end of Tennant's run is absolutely brilliant. John Simm was a brilliant Master. The Missy arc during Capaldi's run was not bad either and a fun take on the Master.

I'm confused by this Mickey/Rose story. She leaves with the doctor, that alone should count as a breakup. Gone for a year and Mickey is accused of killing her. They catch up and go on a pseudo date that could have included a hotel stay. Mickey says he's dating her former fat friend. Rose is jealous. Wait what? Were they still together? Like even the most naiive of dudes has to expect the Doctor clapped them cheeks at least once. No way is she not acting as the meat between Doc and Jack. And the start of season 2 they did do a good-bye kiss, so I guess they "make up". WHAT IS GOING ON? I hope Mickey at least sets her straight and isn't following her around just because she's obviously above his league. I dunno maybe this is why Baker preferred Classic Who... I assume there wasn't CW drama attached. I love me some good drama, but this is getting awkward.
