There will be no off ramp since you cannot punish Putin. He is a dying man who does not care about what happens to the Russian people. Some of the Ukrainians seeking refuge in other countries went back only for Russia to begin bombing Kyiv and Central and Southern parts of Ukraine that had previously been left alone as they concentrated their efforts on Eastern Ukraine. The families I have befriended are back to being terrified for their loved ones and realizing they won't be going 'home' any time soon.

The world gave Russia the ok to shell the cities that are not part of the conflict, so they will continue to do it indefinitely. No one wants to risk a nuclear war, so got to let them do whatever they want.

Russia has the police in cities handing out mobilization paper now to all military age men. People in Moscow getting them too who previously assumed they would be exempted.

Kyiv Post just posted 1.2 terrabytes of Russian national security information that was hacked out of their system and given to them. Oh boy is this not good news for Russia. Looks like it contains the contracting data, so anything the Russian military paid for is documented in this.

I don't think there's any way to stop one at this point. Personally, I think a big war was the plan/goal all along. Nothing better for the economy and good way to kill a few million people and make rich ones richer.  

Not standing up to Putin just shows other dictators and fascists what they can get away with and now things are being put in motion that are definitely headed that way. East vs West except this time Russia is not an ally. It's 1984 in 2022.  

Think China wants the war, as it would kill the US economically and weaken our military greatly since we cannot really replace losses. We lack the means to produce things ourselves and the rich here do not pay taxes, so to fund the war he would have to jack up taxes on the upper middle class and mid sized businesses as they are the only ones with the savings to pay increased taxes that also lack the means to avoid paying taxes. I assume our wealthy and businesses of course would support a war as it would wipe out most of their competition and the rich would get richer by investing in the war machine.

I appreciate the sentiment, but not sure it makes much sense to get turned to ash for the sake of standing up to Putin.

Given Putin put his prized Belgorod sub into play before it was finished, it is not likely he has the gear to use most of his nukes. His plan is to use this to launch a Poseidon weapon, which is a nuke launched drone deployed over the ocean. Except the shit was not finished and is not actually stealthy and can be tracked on satellites through the arctic. Very likely he launches from it, whatever he launches will be shot down extremely fast by a US drone. I mean when people on twitter can track the damn sub you know the US is.

But getting this ship into the water reeks of desperation. Given most of his gear is still from the 80's he deployed so far, it is very likely a lot of his nuke gear is so old school it is not effective anymore in the age of missile defense shields. Russia always was about the MAD style ballistic missile, which are no longer threats in the age of jets that can launch drones.

Poland can wipe out Belarus and Russia by themselves. Of course, Belarus attacking Poland brings in NATO and that is the end of Lukashenko. It would be suicide. Lukashenko is a survivor and that is not what a survivor would do.

Belarus has been threatening war since this started. They step foot in Poland, US gets the greenlight to end the war decisively.
