Subway Series games were absolutely electric, amazing atmosphere at Citi. The Mets have had a vibe about them all season, both games had moments where an old NYM team would have crumbled (Diaz's error in G1, the tying 2 run HR off Peterson tonight) but they rallied both times.
Scherzer's intensity makes him an absolutely fascinating watch. He destroyed Judge with his slider tonight, 0-4 with 3 Ks.
I have been watching MLB replays on ESPN waiting for the stock market to open most nights. Only understand about half of the rules, but enjoy it as background entertainment. I legit think there's no other sport where you are expected to fail at such a high rate as baseball.
Yankees vs the Mets was the best game I have seen recently. I have two Yankees hats despite never supporting them, does that mean they have to be my team?
Why? Dude isn't built for NY. Can't even take an MRI scan without whining. Yanks were wise to not balk at giving their top prospect Volpe(Who should be the SS next year) for Luis Castillo, who went for a really good prospect haul from CIN to SEA. But not sure if Syndergaard is a massive upgrade over what we have, maybe as insurance sure but still he isn't a mega upgrade from say Taillon or if they want to limit Severino's innings.
Terrible trade for Royals. I get buying in bulk on pitching prospects, but those prospects are pretty tough.
If it means anything for you, TJ Sikkema, one of the arms that went back to KC in this deal went to Mizzou.
Yanks made a lot of moves yesterday, got a cost controlled arm(albeit 28 years old, late bloomer) to help out in the late innings and got a top 3 SP(Even if it's Oakland's ballpark and the spaciousness of it, see Sonny Gray) and reclamation project in the bullpen yesterday. I would be stunned if the Yanks did anything else today by the deadline. Seems like a solid haul. A lot trades were made yesterday, guess it helps to have 2 WCs now so more teams are still in it despite it being August and all.

Juan Soto got traded to the Padres. He is joining Tatis and Machado for a hell of a 1-2-3 trio. Nats probably got a lot of top 100 prospects in return I would imagine, wonder if the Padres break bank and give Soto a similar deal to what Washington wanted to extend him on.

A+ gold glove in CF, can't let Judge continue to play the position. He has a bit of an injury but I guess they really believe in Clarke Schmidt as the defacto No.5 after Cole/Montas/Cortes/Taillon. Why they put Severino on the 60 day outside of maybe an innings limit is questionable though.
Not sure I feel good about the SP depth but I guess they really value Bader's defense. He's really good.

Can't have too many SP. Montgomery has become a solid mid rotation arm. Just goes about his business. Yankees seemed to be set with Hicks and Benintendi. Hicks has struggled, but has been better recently and is a good CF. Seems like this trade was not really necessary. Now the Yankees created a problem of having too many outfielders.

Bientendi is FA to be, same with Judge. More insurance for 2023, Bader has 1 more year left.

I wanted to see Syndergaard go back to the team that drafted him but seeing him with Zack Wheeler get clowned on by the Mets will be just as funny to see. @admin

I feel like I've posted this same message after a bunch of Scherzer's starts but he is just dynamite to watch. Absolutely brilliant again tonight shutting down the Braves. Mets are cooking on all cylinders again now, 11-2 recently and really putting Atlanta back in their place.

Padres/Mets in the playoffs would be dynamite to watch.

Padres are the only team in the NL that has a winning record over the Mets this season, but they got dominated by the Dodgers even more than how the Braves were humbled by the Mets.
San Diego might be playing 4D chess though aiming for WC3 and playing the NL Central winner rather than second place in the East.
The Mets rotation is scorching hot right now. 1.11 combined ERA over the last 9 games after shutting out the Phillies in consecutive games. Off to Atlanta now with the opportunity to pretty much put the division to bed.
