Started From this morning. Oh boy this is a good show.
Super simple setup. Small rural town in middle America exist that when you enter it, you cannot leave. Then when the sun sets, humanlike creatures (think Evil Dead deadites) roam the town brutally murdering all they can get their hands on. Looks like vampire rules from what I seen too, they do not seem to force their way into things, but if a window or door is opened, they enter and rip people apart.
Still in the early in the first season, but this is flying really under the radar for how good it is.
Trailer for it.

So getting hooked on this. Like Lost but much faster paced. Like seriously blown away by how crazy this show is and how it went totally under the radar. On season 2 and season 3 is being worked on.

Finished the first season of From. It is like everything I loved about Lost and smoothed over a lot of the negatives. People can be added to the story whenever as anyone who comes to town gets stuck. And the threat is active, as one mistake and the humanoid monsters will rip you apart. Also teased there are worse things in the woods than them. And like Lost, there is far more going on than what we see.
At least will go three seasons which has me excited. Just a fantastic show overall.

No trailer yet, but Joe Lynch's new film Subtle Flesh will adapt Lovecraft's The Thing On The Doorstep and is written by Dennis Paoli who wrote Re-Animator and From Beyond, two of the best Lovecraft adaptations made. Brian Yuzna who produced Re-Animator will product this too.
Film coming to Shudder later this year and should be something to keep on radar. It is one of Lovecraft's better stories that can easily be updated and adapted on a small budget.

Caught up on From and really hope you all are checking this out.
It is like the crew took what they did in Lost and Fringe and perfected here. On a path to be one of the great horror series.

From just getting weirder and weirder. Now we are well into season 2 they def made each season a different act.
Act 1 dealt with the monsters and the town. Act 2 the monsters take a backseat and the people are the focus. Both seasons they question why they are in the town, and what the town is, with two wildly different conclusions.
I assume they are using Lost to subvert the viewers more as they are teasing an Others like twist, but think it is a red herring.
Amazing show that sadly due to spoilers cannot really talk about much in details as it is very much Lost like, and knowing will ruin things.

I will check it out. Not sure it will be good, but it is interesting enough to give a shot. I wish they did not overcomplicate it. The plot of the games would have worked great.

I've never played the games, so going into Five Nights at Freddy's, I won't have anything to compare it to, which I guess can be a good thing. My main takeaway from this, is it seems like a What If? What if Chuck E Cheese were fucked up, and I'll be honest that has my interest.

The premise of most of the games is you are a night watchman at a place like Chuck E Cheese where weird shit starts to happen that you need to go out to investigate. Very minimalistic stuff which is why it was so freaky.
Film wanted to expand the scope apparently like all game movies insist on doing for some reason. If they did it as just one person trapped in a place at night, could be really terrifying. Open the story, and well, usually it is overwritten bargain bin horror.

I didn't read anything about that show before watching the trailers. All I knew was that Samoa Joe was Sweet Tooth and Will Arnett was voicing. That looks fucking awesome. Cast is great too.
My kids are going to be hyped about FNAF but it doesn't look like they'll be able to watch it. Trailer doesn't look gory but that might just be to give parents a false sense of security so they take their kids that are going to beg them to watch it. My son would have nightmares for sure, especially whatever is happening in that chair scene.
Are we sure they are cramming more into the lore or are they just trying to shove the entire storyline from all the games into one movie? Because you couldn't really make a movie based on the first game alone. Nothing happens. You either get brutally murdered by zombie robots or you survive and win the game.

Closer to release will get the rating for FNAF. Likely aiming for pg-13. Looks like the movie is just doing their own shit using the characters. Could have done a very atmospheric film on the first game that was tense as fuck, but they look to be doing the more active style horror films that wonder's all over and ends up being shit.
I assume someone will do a micro-budget film of the first game with different characters and have a massive hit sooner or later.
Twisted Metal def looks amazing. Turning it into Mad Max basically def was the right call. And the setup they have, is one they can very well do sequels for using the massive roster of characters.

Looking forward to Twisted Metal for sure.
Been rewatching the Child’s Play series because why not.
The first movie I’ve discovered to be incredibly overlooked as 80s cheese in the horror realm. It’s actually an incredibly well made movie , beautifully shot and directed and even acted. There are a ton of nuances in that movie that make it a legitimately good movie of any genre. The second might not be as well crafted but is my favorite. I like 3 more than most but understand its flaws. Bride if Chucky is another awesome entry that only got better on rewatch and is so smart, and hilarious. Perfect blend of horror and comedy. Won’t watch Seed ever again. Terrible. And I’m going to be watching the Curse/Cult duo again.
Overall though I think Child’s Play suffers from the same thing NOES does. The first movies are honestly great movies but the villain being the funny charismatic breakout star confuses people to what these franchises originated as. They think of a lot of the goofy stuff that came afterwards.

God is a Bullet dropped. Been waiting a while for this one. Satanic cult kidnaps the sheriff's deputy's daughter and kills his wife. He then teams with an escaped cult member to go get her back. It is done as a 70's exploitation film.
Gonna watch it when I get time. Reviews were not kind at all but some said it had its charm. I think knowing it is an exploitation film sets expectations accordingly.

Ok watching now, this film is fucking amazing. Def 70's exploitation, with 90's edge mixed in. Not a good film, but a really fun film. Like body parts getting blown off people fun. And fucking wild casts like Jamie Foxx and Andrew Dice Clay.
Maika Monroe however is amazing in it.
I cannot believe the director wanted this film to be closer to three hours long. Version on the bootleg sites seems to be the Russian cut that cut 35 minute to get the film down to two hours. Review copy was the 2:35 cut. Need to torrent that version I guess next. But god, if it is more drama stuff, it will be painful. The "serious parts" of the film was so bad it is funny.

I really don’t enjoy the Saw movies. I think I’ve seen them all because the wife is in, but they’re just a viscerally unpleasant experience for me. That’s ok though, I’ll still see them.
We’re trying to get to see Talk to Me sometime soon. She wants to see Cobwebs too, but finding two not popular horror movies in rural Midwest is some work.

Mine is Last Voyage of the Demeter. Trollhunter director doing the crossing the ocean chapter of Dracula.
I will watch Saw X though. Looks better than a lot of the series. The traps and gore bore me now, but after 9 films kind of into the lore of the series. I also like series that release around Halloween every year.
Also excited for Elevator Game based on the Korean urban legend. The urban legend is bonkers, so gonna be hard to fuck it up. Basically hit the numbers on an elevator in a certain order and it takes you to a different dimension.

I am also REALLY HYPED for Dark Harvest but no release date set. It is in post production, but likely will need a ton of CGI for Sawtooth Jack. For peeps who did not read the book, basically every year a monster with a pumpkinhead rises in a small town and the young men of the town are tasked with killing it before he reaches the church. The winner and their family gets to leave the hamlet and are given a new house and car to start their new lives with. It is a really good, classical Halloween story. Took the 2006 Bram Stoker award for best horror novel easily. Major book spoilers below: After winning the boy's family gets their prizes, but the boy is ritually sacrificed so he will rise the next year as Sawtooth Jack. The adults in the hamlet all know this, but cannot do anything about it.
The year of the film, Sawtooth Jack leds the kids to the truth and they storm the church together and kill the leaders of the town, then set the town on fire so everyone is free to finally leave. Egger's Nosferatu and Maxxxine are in post-production as well. Never Let Go, new Aja film is shooting, Return to Silent Hill, Gen's Sharks and V/H/S/85 are I am really interested in too. True Haunting is also in post, which looks like a stolen adaptation of Head Full of Ghosts about a televised exorcism gone wrong. Depending on close this remains to their stolen source, could be really good.

Shake up for the new Scream.
Radio Silence who did the last two films are out and Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity Marked Ones and Next of Kin director) is in.
With Radio Silence out, no word on if Jenna Ortega will return. Melissa Barrera and Mason Gooding are confirmed. But this is looking like it will be a bomb, so I doubt Ortega will take it. Landon only really has a single hit film, Happy Death Day, and everything else he has directed bombed.

Landon confirmed this himself. Majority of his movies have not fared well. His last movie he wrote, Paranormal Activity Next of Kin had it's theater run pulled entirely. Tested so badly with audiences they rapidly pushed it to streaming. Last film he directed was We Have a Ghost that he got 50 mil to make and was panned, sitting at 42% on RT right now. Was a major loss for Netflix.
As for Ortega if she was doing the film she would be announced. Once the creative team swapped was made clear she was not confirmed. Ortega also blocked up for a while with Alba, Beetlejuice 2, Death of a Unicorn and Wednesday. Not sold she will drop one of these to do Scream with a new creative team.
