The implication was it was no big deal that slavery happened in America because others did it. Slavery was on a whole different here than anywhere else.
Looks like X did some cleaning of Musk's posts finally with the Israel stuff. Removed him suggesting antisemitic twitter accounts to follow for war reports and some antisemitic takes. Also started to label Iranian tweets as breaking the rules but noting they will be allowed to stay up for the public good.
New feature on Twitter now that is allowing you to ONLY allow verified users to comment on your stuff as Musk moves closer to paywalling most features of the site. To remain verified you need to pay him monthly and give him your ID at some point.
Goal is to move the site to read only eventually unless you pay. Basically Something Awful looks like the business model at this point as Musk is desperate for cash.

Elon has 24 hours to get Twitter in compliance with EU law. His response is basically nothing on the site violates twitter's policy.
Also pretty much demands Elon confirm he will remove content that the EU governments see fit to have removed, something he told his fans he refused to do, despite doing it for India.
Should he refuse to act, penalty is up to 6% of global revenue of Twitter or a blanket ban in the EU. He can pick which.

Today Musk is continuing to insist that Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market, use Twitter to work out this issue. She is not playing his games anymore and stopped responded, after he demanded they formally lay out all of their concerns solely on Twitter. His fans are encouraging him to refuse to comply until the EU gives into his demands. He also claims he does not know what they are talking about.
Really think he ends up pulling from the EU market. Sooner or later they will not play his games, and if they cannot get in touch with him, will not bother to use Twitter to get his attention and just fine him under EU laws.

EU decided to not debate their laws on Twitter and opened a former probe on Twitter not comply with with the DSA laws. Twitter has one week to reply to their demands now or forfeit the ability to do so. Fines for the scope they are investigating are up to 5% max global rev. www.ft.com/content/a4ab23c7-977a-46b1-8d00-33923ceaee89All other major platforms affirmed their commitment to the EU's PSA. Only Musk does not affirm to it, which means Linda committing to honor it is meaningless to the EU.

One of the best uses for Twitter I’ve found is for stand ups to advertise shows. It’s a great way for lesser known people to advertise. Virtually the rest is shit we’d be better off without.
I’m confident any OT poster could have done better with Twitter than Elon.

It would not have been hard, the main problems with Twitter are solely related to Elon or his ego.
He already swerved saying this will only apply to new users, but that does not do shit to solve the bot problem.
He also said bans will be temp moves moving forward, which means if he is trying to stop bots, then existing bots can keep botting away in between bans. Also for a dollar a year, you just push the costs of the bots to the people ordering them.

Reports are when the EU attempts to fine Elon, he will cut the EU off from Twitter instead to avoid paying the fine. He expects they will beg him to let their users back on the site, void the fine, and he will have the site exempted from their social media laws in return.

Recent earnings call did got not well for Musk. He spent it whining about the feds increasing interest rates in the US and Mexico for his failure to get near sales projections. Finance groups now saying Tesla is a sell and very overvalued amid an increasingly growing EV market. Tesla down to selling 3% of EV but is worth as much as the next 7 companies combined.
Stock lost 15 percent so far with no end in sight. Being called and emperor has no clothes moment given Musk did not present any real vision of a future moving forward. And big finance names this time took notice. This marks two straight years of earning declines for what is marked as one of the best growth stocks that is banking on things that were promised last year and still not appeared like the Cybertruck, full self driving, Mexican plant. Also the Cybertruck may never enter into mass production as to sell them Musk will have to take an extreme loss per unit and will not see profit for years on them. Mexican plant now delayed until near 0 interest rates return, which may never happen. Full self driving has no date given Musk is still struggling to catch up with rivals after AI crash problems. A very concerning note was Musk may been priced out of the Chinese market now by BYD.
People are also comparing BYD to Tesla finally. Tesla worth over 8 times as much while BYD out produces them 2 to 1. And unlike Tesla they are rolling in cash. And the difference between the companies is only growing as BYD using the belts and roads project to expand sales.
So correction happening now. Meme stock people mass buying the dip but even with that it is still down 15 to 20 as the market is realizing that the company was vastly overpriced. Still no one knows at what point the twitter deal triggers Musk unloading shares to pay off the debt. I would assume if Tesla drops under 100 we will start hearing more about it. Stock will be down under 200 again Monday, bringing it back to 2020 levels when the reddit buyin was in full swing.

Seeing mainstream finance stuff now breaking down how unrealistic the stock price is. Likely should be 50 a share. Stabilized for now at 210. But no plans to increase profits, as slashing prices to move cars is not a sustainable business plan long term.
The inability to get the cybertruck done is also very concerning. As is the wide variance of the prototypes in the wild.
///
DOJ also expanded their probe into safety problems of the cars involving the braking issues, misleading about range, and "personal benefits" to large shareholders and executives. Likely also looking into Musk's use of company funds to buy twitter before his bank deals closed.
///
Details of the decline for Tesla was third quarter profits were down 44%.

Also revealed that due to Musk's problems with Starship, China will likely beat the US to be the first back on the moon. We had the advantage but Starship has problems that Musk refuses to address and his rocket spent months grounded after he said he expected the first one to explode, triggering a series of investigations as to whether or not Musk put people at risk with his disregard for safety protocols.
China also hinted unlike America, they do not plan to end their scope of space travel with the moon, and hinted they will attempt Mars after. Maybe one day Musk can go to a Chinese base on Mars, because he certainly will never get his own at this rate.

He owns it for now, but this fuckup puts more pressure on the board to vote him out of the company. The entire investigation literally was triggered from him saying he expected the first rocket to explode, after telling the FAA it was safe to launch.
Review appears to still have 4 to 5 months left, while Musk whines on twitter and his people to congress.
Flight 2 has another rapid unscheduled disassembly, and Musk triggers another review, he will be voted out. NASA not gonna wait another year while everything gets reviewed again, and will look to someone else to get them to the moon. NASA contract gets cut, Musk is out.
Again, this all was really triggered by Musk saying the explosion was expected, which triggered a serious review of everything to see if he did plan on only testing some systems and letting the rest explode.

More details of the Tesla DoJ investigation leaked. They are investigating the Tesla files, that massive info dump that a disgruntled employee leaked. Focus is on the glass house, the massive spending project to build Musk a house make of glass with Tesla cash that spend millions without any physical evidence of spending. Also a criminal investigation over statements from Musk that the cars were full self-driving. Depending on the findings, could see Musk voted off the board finally as damage control. People have died from the self-driving stuff, and the glass house is corruption on par with what others have went to jail for. Gen summary. www.cnbc.com/2023/10/23/tesla-discloses-doj-probes-over-vehicle-range-personal-benefits-more.html

The Tesla modeln3 is by all accounts a decent car, the Plaid is what Americna car makers have done for years, cram too much engine into a car that doesn't go around corners or stop... then call it a performance model.
There's a very real chance that EV do3snt work for offroad: Hill climbs, sand, mud, you don't want to be heavy and all Ev are way too heavy by nature. The Cybertruk is ugly as sin though.

There's plenty of videos of 4X4s struggling hill climbs, then a Subaru Forester or Crosstrek comes flying through, obnoxious muffler and all and does it with ease.
It's lucky for the Cyber Truck and most 4X4s that they never touch dirt anyway.
That, and road tyres. A terrible set of road tyres can literally declaw a 4X4 off-road. And a great set of all-terrains can weaponize an AWD cross-over, hence why there is so much love for Subaru.

Like you said, tyres are a big part, but also suspension, you have to get the weight to the wheels, I don't know if Musk has worked how to deliver more torque to the wheel that's gripping

I will admit, trying to reinvent the wheel here is a failure and a massive waste of time and money.
There are some brilliant machines out there, both 4X4 and AWD, so cutting a deal for a pre-existing platform and almost going old-school to go new school would have been sufficient and easier. By that, I mean doing what hot-rodders have done for 80 years - taking a big bad truck and cramming in a big bad (in this case, electric) engine with all the torque in the world.

Newest Musk thing, he wants to redo hashtags. First only premium users will be able to use them. Then they can only use existing hashtags, which need to be purchased and renewed regularly for continual functionality on the site.
