I will admit, trying to reinvent the wheel here is a failure and a massive waste of time and money. There are some brilliant machines out there, both 4X4 and AWD, so cutting a deal for a pre-existing platform and almost going old-school to go new school would have been sufficient and easier. By that, I mean doing what hot-rodders have done for 80 years - taking a big bad truck and cramming in a big bad (in this case, electric) engine with all the torque in the world. I agree and there are companies working on exactly this, but it is crazy heavy that's the main limitation especially adding weight to a vehicle that needs to pull weight... For EV to work we almost need to ditch the current concepts of what a car is and what car ownership means. I don't think we can take our current practices and electrify then.

OMG the oppression! But how will the world know you're #blessed if you can't hashtag it? I do not care. But brands do. Every major action Musk wants to make is another action that will drive down the value of the site as the harder he makes it for brands to get engagement with, the less brands that will use it. And brands who are not using it, will not advertise on it.

Other companies are putting out strong traditional EV trucks. Only Elon really is struggling. And that is because he keeps giving engineering directions that make no sense from an engineering framework.

It probably has something to do with a nerd building a car like a computer. Throw a a quarter billion dollars at Gas Monkey and they'll solve this issue in a month. www.wussu.com/humour/gm.htmGM replies to Bill Gates At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated "if GM had kept up with the technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued the following press release - If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics - 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day. 2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull over to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5. Only one person at a time could use the car unless you bought "car NT", but then you would have to buy more seats. 6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would only run on five percent of the roads. 7. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "General Protection Fault" warning light. 10. The airbag system would ask "are you sure?" before deploying. 11. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 12. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally road maps (now a GM subsidiary), even though they neither need nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the cars performance to diminish by 50% or more. Moreover, GM would become a target for investigation by the Justice Dept. 13. Every time GM introduced a new car, car buyers would have to learn to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 14. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.

I mean, we are getting here slowly anyway with the built in car computers controlling more and more and each feature of a car slowly being turned into a microtransaction.
And well, that also is describing Teslas basically <.<

Ben Mezrich just dropped his new book, Breaking Twitter. Hollywood studios bidding to adapt it as his other books turned into fast hits, like 21, the Social Network and Dumb Money. And this is likely one of the best topics he had to work with since Facebook.
Mezrich has a knack of getting the most sensational stuff out of people, and this book was done with interviews of the people who worked at Twitter before and after the takeover. Starting it tomorrow, will highlight the best parts.

Cybertruck owners will be forced to sign a contract that if they sell their truck, they will be fined for 50k to the full value of the sale for demand damage. Basically you are fucked if you get one and do not like it. They may make some exceptions for people in the first year, but wording is questionable for how long the ban on sales exists, and what conditions you can resell under. Sales will also bar you from future business with Tesla. The consent needed for sales is written consent from Tesla directly for sales. www.engadget.com/tesla-fine-print-says-it-may-sue-cybertruck-resellers-for-50k-if-they-flip-it-too-soon-173137300.html

Cherry picking...
" Tesla says it may grant exceptions to some people wishing to sell their Cybertruck within the first year, but they must get written consent. If the company does agree, it will either buy the car back at a reduced price — deducting $0.25 per mile driven, plus wear and tear, and the cost of any necessary repairs — or allow the owner to resell the truck to a third-party buyer. Tesla’s Cybertruck is only being released to a small number of select customers at first and won’t enter mass production until 2024, so naturally, the company is trying to get ahead of resellers looking to cash in on the vehicle’s rarity. "
Ferrari does something similar. Ferrari either prohibits owners from selling them during the initial year of ownership or asks them to inform Ferrari before selling. These regulations are set up to deter the profiteering resale of exclusive cars and motivate those who own them to drive them.
GM did something a few years ago with luxury cars, if you choose to sell these vehicles within one year after you have taken delivery = no warranty coverage for the transferee.
Try to resell a Rolls-Royce too quickly after purchase = blacklist for life.
Aston Martin and Mercedes AMG also had bans on resale on limited models.
Land Rover had a clause on The Defender stating you couldn't sell your car privately within the first 6 months, and could only sell it to the dealer network. The policy often appears to be implemented when Land Rover suspects a customer is a member of the motor trade and therefore likely to sell the car on.
Ford USA also did it will the F-150 EV apparently. Banning the resale of the vehicle for up to a year. And the Ford GT in 2015, banning resale for 2 years.
All of these conditions are used to avoid profiteering on limited edition models.
Oh, but Elon.. that wascally wabbit! Someone stop this tyranny!

And you'll find every major sites had an article on each of the above mentioned manufacturers. So what.. If you are unhappy with the vehicle, as stated, they can make exceptions, or buy the vehicle back. Although there's nothing untrue in that article on the Cybertruck, you've add it to your anti-Musk narrative despite it being a common tactic by many a manufacturer to avoid profiteering. Ps; why you'd want one is beyond me, it's ugly as sin and would only likely serve as a military vehicle with those brutal aesthetics, albeit an urban vehicle having seen its inability to conquer dirt.

Will know in two weeks who buys them, as that is when they start to sell and people can see a release model.
This is a truck made for tech bros who want a truck, but do not need a truck. Farmers and rural people are just laughing at this thing. Most did not want to move to gasoline, they sure as hell are not moving to electric. Also it is very, very clear this is not meant for off-roading so that group is out. And there is little overlap between people who need a truck and people who want an EV.
Tesla however is planning on this being a major success in their business plans to offset the losses they are taking in other areas due to demand destruction.
There is also expected to be a massive backlash when the price is revealed as people who reserved did so at the expectation of a now four year old price of just 40k. Estimates I seen are 60k to 80k.

Starting tomorrow, dock workers will refuse to unload Teslas in Sweden, effectively creating an embargo.
Workers also will no longer clean show rooms, or do any maintenance to the charging system.
Musk is still saying they do not negotiate with labor groups.
Very likely he will be forced to pull out of the country entirely if he keeps up his current attitude. Swiss law favors the labor groups here.

Calls for Musk to resign from his companies an a sell off of Tesla started after Musk support a claim that Jews were promoting white genocide. He was also barred from the APEC CEO confederence over said comments.
Behind the scenes, looks like some major investors are looking to unload their holdings in Tesla over this.

Tesla statement that the Cybertruck is not likely to drive growth or lead to profitability. Claiming they will pivot priority to their next car and will remain in a period of low growth until then.
GM also bought Tesla's gigacaster. Musk will need to work new deals out with other groups for his molds. None of them are in North America though. The sad part is, the company only cost 80 mil to buy and get on demand in house giga-molding.

The lesson here for Elon is, never try. Never try anything. Just stay at home. Lock the doors. Never leave the apartment, and at least that way, he'll never be called a failure on the internet again.

Or not rush design and demand his engineers do not do anything he dislikes even if it kills people, which it has.
Can blow up so many of these before NASA looks for other options. This is for a manned flight.

It's space exploration bud, it's never going to be safe.
And excuse my ignorance, maybe it I missed it. But how many Muskanauts has SpaceX killed? I'm happy for you to share the link to the story? Or are you using a guy being killed in a fall and a truck accident to advance your argument on the failings of launching a spaceship into actual space?

One killed, 600 injured, some disabled, some losing limbs. Magnitude higher than the rest of the aerospace industry, and many related to safety features Elon demanded be removed because he disliked them.
And sorry, I do not believe a rocket that explodes is a success when planning for a manned flight. If this was manned, everyone would have died.

Elon Musk could forget to boil the kettle and serve someone a cold tea, and you'd be outraged by it.
There's a certain irony to a man refusing to participate in the world constantly criticising the failings of a man who for the better half of 2 and half decades has pioneered the EV and likely forced an entire industry to evolve with it, on top of space exploration, neurotechnology, AI, renewable energy and the foundations for modern e-commerce. Oh, and becoming the wealthiest person in the world.. I mean, what a loser, right?
Sure, the man has his shortcomings, sure he's odd.. but fuck me if seafaring people didn't build boats due to fear of the water, the world would be a very different place.

Every single company Musk is involved with would be better off if he was not involved. This is proven time and time again, but you feel some need to champion for him.
But let's break down what you are championing for.
Neuralink - Killed most of the monkeys that it was put into, fails to work as a neural-interface, and Musk fired employee got models through FDA approval already. Neuralink claims they are 6 years away from FDA approval at least to match what his former employee already got approved.
SpaceX - Calls for Congress to cut dealings with Musk over his insistence that safety protocols be removed. No NASA contract, the company dies. Group inside looking to remove him. He is also years behind delivering the rockets we will need to get to the moon safely.
Tesla - Looking to take massive losses with the Cybertruck because Musk's design was insanely expensive, and limited the power they could use. Company already on record saying they do not expect profit from it. Group inside looking to remove Musk. If the next car fails, the company may fold as a automobile maker.
Twitter - Musk lost much ad rev he may not be able to make the debt payments going forward. The transition to X is extremely limited since he has no money to do it. He took a 44 billion dollar company and deflated it to 4 billion dollars (Musk's value in court).
ThatBoringCompany - Most future contracts for hyperloops were cancelled after they realized Musk could not deliver. Company doing very little these days.
Not one company he is in charge of is doing well in anyway. And all of them would be doing better without Musk.
The sole reason he has the money he does is because WSB grossly inflated Tesla stock to about 10 times what it is worth.

I'll apologise if Elon Musk is the first person alive to fail in the name of science or venturing into a new frontier.
His contributions to this world and the next decade are vast and we will feel Musk's influence for the next century. And you know what. You're not a silly man. But what you are is biased to the point that you can't see past your distorted world view.
As stated many pages ago, he doesn't have to succeed. Because the next guy will. Or maybe the next guy after that. But he started the conversations so to speak. And that's what matters.

Elon Musk is a cock, I have said that repeatedly.
In the scale of human achievement a cock still rates well above people who have achieved nothing and throw stones from the sidelines.
It's the crabs in a bucket mentality and humanity isn't served by the fact social media gives everyone a chance to be a crab in a bucket pulling down anyone who attempts to do better.
SpaceX is making remarkable progress for a fraction of the bloated budget and inactivity of NASA, sometimes some of the eggs get broken but this is the inescapable price of human advancement and it is only socialists who argue.
