The sources of information from Korea are limited so they all seem to come from one place and all have the same message. I know it is near conspiratorial. But I am looking at other oppressive regimes over time like Cuba. Cuba was also shown to have a vibrant arts scene. And some people liked it there. Never in NK. Always the same scene is presented. No underground music scene. No teacher doing good. No one falling in love. All the same story. Some people “liked” being Nazis, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t portrayed incorrectly. This is pure conspiracy.

But that’s not negative news so nobody wants to talk about it. However, it is historic, YUGE and is something none of these other clown presidents were able to do. It’s time to respect this man. He’s going to win a Noble Prize for this shit. South Korea agrees. A couple of thoughts: - It's not a done deal yet. (I hope we can agree on that.) This is far from the first time NK has had talks, but it's fizzled out in every other instance. The biggest stickler I can see is, would the US agree to pull all of its troops out of South Korea immediately? It's pretty likely to come up; Kim Jong Un wouldn't dismantle his nuclear program without certain assurances we won't overthrow his regime anyways (see: Iraq) and reducing our military footprint in Asia -- a vacuum that would be filled presumably by China -- is a concept that might not fly well with the Pentagon. - It's not out of the question that Kim himself might be eager to broker a unification deal. He apparently spent part of his youth in Switzerland and France; after going from those places back to Pyongyang he might well have decided it's better to be a rich but otherwise unremarkable guy in a first-world society than king of a shithole. - South Korea did most of the work here. The new Prime Minister Moon Jae-In came to power last year when former PM Park Geun-Hye was impeached for corruption; the new guy is supposedly much more willing to extend an olive branch than the last woman. If this does happen I will absolutely agree Trump does deserve some credit since the US will basically HAVE to be involved in the conversation and a deal cannot be made without his input; it'll be more than zero percent but less than 100. Two thoughts:
- Trump has not done anything actively impeachable (that we know of, yet) so Waters is wrong -- you can't impeach a guy just 'cause you don't like him
- However, she is using this Iran example more as a "add this on to the list, what more does this guy have to do before we admit there's a problem" than it being a standalone "he did this ONE THING with Iran, impeach him~!" that it's kindasorta being spun as

I’m interested in how this meeting with North Korea is going to go. I’m not really concerning myself with nonsense like butthurt countries when he pulls out of agreements that he doesn’t agree with.
The thing is, the dark world of politics and corporate used to love to threaten people with going to the news. “I’m going to tell the news and your career will be ruined!” Donald Trump has shut that shit down. I’ve read fake news before it was a thing. It drove me crazy. After days of Kim talking shit and threatening to cancel the meeting, Trump said fuck it and cancelled it. Just like when the GS Warriors were debating seeing the Prez, Trump uninvited them because he wasn’t going to let them be the martyrs of the sporting world. Trump don’t play that hide and seek shit and I love it. Way to blow it, North Korea.

Never really believed the summit would happen and after the threats the other day there was no way the US could sit down with them. North Korea was adamant they weren’t going to go backwards on their nuclear program and I’m curious if there was ever much to gain from the meeting in the first place, despite thinking that talking is always better than not talking.

Trump was sandbagged pretty badly by Pence and John Bolton who both kept pushing the same model of disarmament as Libya. Considering that Gadaffi was dead within a decade of making that deal that wasn't the sharpest move by them, especially considering both Trump and Pompeio had repeatedly said they weren't going to use the Libyan model.
