Some of the Project 2025 stuff is not really Trump stuff, I don’t see him legitimately getting behind a plan to ban all abortions everywhere or promote conversion therapy for anyone that suggests their gay. He’s a white nationalist, but the Christian part doesn’t really seem to be a fit.

However the part where he fires 20,000 civil servants and replaces them with loyalist political appointees sounds right up his alley.

This is a question I have been musing as someone who is a conservative but not a massive fan of Trump:

Did Trump tell any lie greater than the one the Democrat White House has been telling that Biden is sharp and fully in control of the country?

Isn't it a pretty big deal if unelected and appointed officials are making the calls and not the man that was elected to do so? Even worse should it be his family, this should be a way bigger deal than it is.

On Sky News here (which is a Murdoch channel to be fair) they often speak about "Trump Derangement Syndrome" it seems to be in effect here, people thinking that stopping Trump is like preventing Hitler coming to power and all actions in response are justified and therefore good.

Pretty sure someone on here predicted building concentration camps becoming a popular pastime for Americans under a second Trump presidency.

Trump saying covid would pass within days in Feb was the greatest lie any US president ever told to his people.

Would’ve been nice if they let him shut down the American border to other countries when COVID was beginning instead of being called a racist for suggesting it.

We did not get covid from muslim countries and it was already in the US when he wanted to start the bans.

It wasn’t just Muslim countries. He wanted to shut down travel from China, but “OH NO ORANGE MAN RACIST! HE BLAMES THE CHINESE!”

We were all alive for it and witnessed it happen. No need to try and change what happened. He wanted to control it and minimize it, but wasn’t allowed to do it because of cry baby bums who have nothing better to do then to protest.

The China ban was put into effect. It just was not effective as US citizens in China were allowed to return, and many people were excepted from it.  It also came far too late.

Blocking China immigration wouldn’t have done anything to slow or stop Covid. It was already here.

Besides that, c is accurate - Trump’s posturing early on that it would fizzle out was egregious.

I just assume the people shouting the loudest about how they should have sealed the borders from all international travel are also the ones shouting the loudest at grocery store clerks that asked them to wear a mask.

First cases here in Iowa were from the Middle East, a tour group came home with it after a cruise in Egypt.

I think Trump's undoing was just that he pointed the finger too hard at one country when it was coming from all sides, but to be fair I might be remembering wrong. And while I don't think shutting down international travel would have helped much (it was already too late), we definitely should have done it a lot faster than we did. It was one of the only things about how the pandemic was handled in Canada that drove me nuts. Air travel into Canada was not shut down for weeks after the virus was discovered, and I hated every second. A massive failure on our government's part.

Biden shook off a disputed primary finally today. Gov, House and Senate all will back him. About 5% dissent but that is not enough to undo the Dem primary like that media very much wanted.

Also White House med team re-issued the details of his neurological exam and why a specialist was involved at the White House. Biden lacks heat - cold sensitivity in the foot he prior broke. Nothing related to his cognition. Did not stop the media from claiming he has Parkinson's disorder though, despite the report explicitly saying no evidence of it.

Trump's doctors meanwhile not issued a statement in over four years. And last time they did it was to say he was 6'3 and 225 pounds.

Trump claimed his muslim ban would have protected the US. It would not have.  Nor did the border shutdown prevent Covid since it came into the US via airports not the ground border.

And back to the point, no covid did not just go away as Trump said many, many times it would.
