I love The Bourne Franchise - it was #11 and the final cut on my list but it really should of cracked my top ten. I went far too horror heavy trying to represent the genre and left out a few must haves and I do own this entire collection as well. The first three movies are obviously the standout with the third being regarded by most as the best - its when everything comes together and its probably my favorite as well.
Trying to reboot it with a different lead was an interesting choice but I liked the fourth movie , granted I'm a huge Jeremy Renner guy so I liked the casting choice as well but I don't think it was bad - just different without Matt Damon there. Still a good enough movie.
The last one was average as well , but I'll watch it if it's on. I love the Bourne character too much not too and Matt Damon was fucking made for that role IMO.

I've not seen Legacy yet but the first three films are fantastic. All among my favourite action films. Agreed that Bourne is a fantastic character and Damon nails him to a tee. I really love the way these films are shot and how the action/espionage scenes play out. The most recent Bourne film was pretty good but not especially memorable.

I missed sending a list in for this one, that's drastically underrated for me. I consider the originals one of the best trilogies of all time, Greengass is one of the few masters of the shaky cam, other trilogies tend to have a weak link, but I don't see it with Bourne. But I can see the franchise as a whole losing some points for coming back post-Ultimatum. Legacy was truly a let down, it spent the first hour relating itself to the Bourne movies and the next hour just kind of meandering around, with very little of the signature Bourne action, with one of the most anticlimactic finishes I've ever seen. Plus it was Renner's most wooden performance ever, I know what they were going for, but it came off more like bad acting than a character trait.
Jason Bourne was a solid flick, not quite on par with the trilogy, but ages better than Legacy, though the sudden realization of a father felt pretty forced.

The core trilogy is awesome. Never saw the Renner or recent one though.

I'm honestly shocked you didn't rank it. I had it at #7 and I'm not even a huge fan of either the character or Matt Damon. But the quality of the films has been rock solid throughout. Even the more mediocre ones were still very watchable. Plus the series turned friggin MATT DAMON into an action star, that is a miracle unto itself.

I've never seen any of the Bourne movies aside from that one scene in the first one involving the pen.
That scene alone was awesome enough I kinda regret not finding room somewhere for Bourne on my list.

I'm honestly shocked you didn't rank it. I am too really , look back in hindsight I should have bumped Back to the Future for Bourne. I go back to Bourne all the time , I really only go back to the Back to the Future 2 in this trilogy and sometimes the first one - the third one is something I never revisit. Yeah though I was surprised that the Back to the Future Franchise didn't crack the top ten just because it's so beloved. I voted for it but it probably should have been barely on the outside looking in because the second one is my personal favorite and one I go back to quite a bit - I'll watch the first one and enjoy it if it's on and I never revisit the last one for whatever reason. It's not bad but I just don't have the same connection with it. I was also surprised to see that the critics were the lowest on the second one. Don't know why - that one is too much fucking fun.

Yes! So glad BttF didn't make the top ten.
I've always hated it for some reason.
Like ET level hate.

The first Back to the Future is an absolute classic. The rest of the franchise......not so much.

The most consistent franchise of them all doesn't even make the top ten, ugh. This was a no brainer as my number 1 franchise, the first two are 10/10 classics while 3 is a solid 9. I like how part 2 really goes all out with it's use of time travel and giving us a different perspective on the first movie. Despite having the annoying love interest for Doc Brown 3 still had fun with all the Western tropes and more great acting from the unsung hero of the series Thomas F Wilson.

Great Scot!
Back to the Future completely slipped my mind. I haven't watched them since I was a kid and while I enjoyed them back then, it would be disingenuous of me to act like I love the series. I treated the franchise countdown with more subjectivity because there's no way known I've seen every movie of every franchise so I wanted my list to represent my taste. I really enjoyed the second movie, arguably moreso than the first since it was so dark, but overtime it seems like it's the ugly duckling of the series. Again, I'd have to see it again to see if their complaints hold weight, but when it comes to time travel I adopt the Bruce Willis from Looper approach - 'it doesn't fucking matter!'

They are completely harmless , great movies. I haven't shown them to my kids yet but I'm willing to bet they hold up perfectly with todays generation. I know ET did , my daughter loves that movie.

It's still more popular than the third one amongst the fans , the critics just have no imagination. I will ride hard for the 2nd one being the best of the series - I get the first set the template but I find the second to be the most rewatchable.

Great trilogy, the first BttF is about as perfect as a film gets, and while they declined in quality with each entry, the peak of that quality meant declining still landed them at "very good."

I'm really happy Scream ended up cracking the top ten , it took a late push from a couple lists but for awhile it was on the outside which would have been a shame for my #1 vote. Definitely my favorite franchise of all time - I don't care what the haters say.
For my money , the original not only ended up being one of the most important but possibly the greatest horror movie ever made. It sounds like hyperbole but I really believe it. It's such a brilliant horror movie from the very beginning. I can't wait for it to make a countdown some day so hopefully we can go in depth.
People hate on the sequels and I was actually surprised to see part two rated higher by the critics than the original but I guess I shouldn't be because it's also my favorite sequel of all time. The way it continues to play on the tropes of the first one , only in sequel for is the absolute best. There is so much greatness going on continued with a bunch of the best chase scenes and another nice twist at the end. And Timothy Olyphant!!
Three is the most panned of them all and probably rightfully so because it turns much more into a popcorn flick and money grab than a well thought out horror movie like its two predecessors were. I still enjoy the ever living hell out of it though and never have a bad time watching it. I guess it's because I've come so far and watched these character overcome too much not to want to root for them to best ghost face once again.
The fourth was really good , probably better than the third if I were being objective. I don't go back to it as much though when I watch the original three probably twice a year at minimum. Hell I even watched the TV show even though the first season was so bad it's awful - the second was better for sure.
Overall I've always been somewhat of a horror fan since a young age and while other movies might have started that - Scream is the movie and the franchise that brought my horror fandom into the stratosphere and changed my perception on the genre in general. It had to rate at #1 for that for me.

I kind of forgot about Scream but again probably because of the decline in quality after Scream 2. I still think Wes Craven's New Nightmare did the "meta" horror movie concept better and it gave Craven the inspiration to do more.

I love New Nightmare , it's my favorite of the Elm Street franchise but it didn't do it better. If anything if gave Craven a nice template to work from and show him what to keep and what to do better when it comes to meta and thus - Scream was born.

Think Scream was my initial plunge into horror/slasher genre. I knew the basics of the big ones, but never got around to really watching them until much later. Even then it's only a few select entries. Only seen the first 2. Really liked the first one.

With the possible exception of The Blair Witch Project, Scream is the single LEAST scary horror franchise I've ever seen. Ghostface is utter garbage as a horror villain, how the hell am I going find someone who gets his ass kicked that much scary? Give me a break.

They didn’t set out to make unstoppable monsters that never die - the fact that Ghostface could literally be anyone was part of the fear. What’s fun or relatable about a zombie child that can’t die or a mutated child molester who can only haunt you in your dreams. Freddy ain’t ever happening , Jason ain’t ever happening. Ghostface and Scream ks loosely based of shit that actually happened.

Jason where’s a hockey mask , Michael Myers looks like William Shatner and Pinhead ... well his name is fucking Pinhead. Again the costume adds to the idea that it could literally be anyone. I love Friday and Halloween but they never scared me. They aren’t ever going to happen.

You're looking in the wrong place if you want to get scared from slashers. Slasher movies are at best mildly unsettling. For what it's worth, I think Freddy Krueger is the scariest slasher villain.
That said, the opening scene of Scream is my first and scariest horror movie experience. Bear in mind I was nine years old at the time. But I've never watched Scream in full. Not because of any trauma, but I did watch the second one and was thoroughly unimpressed. I should return to the first one though. That first scene is pretty badass, it'd be interesting to see how the rest of the movie follows that.
