Arguably the best trilogy ever. Not sure what the actual argument is tho...

Toy Story was my #1 and there was never any doubt. I've mentioned consistent quality more than once, and Toy Story wasn't just consistently good, it was consistently SPECTACULAR. Easily the best trilogy of films ever made.

These are always fun to follow even though I rarely participate. The Drago vs. Undertaker argument was phenomenal. Somebody needs to book that in fanfic. As for my take, Undertaker is great. Drago is greater. My Top 3 probably would have went Rocky-Star Wars-Dark Knight Trilogy in that order. My Rocky love is well-known. I grew up on those movies with IV being maybe my single favorite movie of all time. Definitely the GOAT soundtrack at the very least. Rocky IV is the 80s condensed into movie form. Everybody loves an 80s montage, and Rocky IV has over 24 minutes of montage. Yeah, scrap that "maybe" from earlier. Rocky IV is definitely the GOAT. It dares to be epic. It's basically the Meat Loaf of film. I-III are also fantastic. V was a big step back but I still don't hate it or anything. Some memorable lines. George Washington Duke & Tommy Gunn were fun characters/villains. Rocky Balboa was my 5th favorite out of the 6 but it was still decent enough. My favorite part of that one was seeing the likes of Spider Rico(!) and Marie from Rocky I return with much more screen time. Haven't seen Creed yet. Yeah, I know. I'm a slacker. I'll get around to watching it one of these days. I haven't binged on the Rocky movies in years but if I happen to stumble across one you better believe I am going to sit down and watch it. Before WWF.... Before baseball and football... And long before Rocky, there was my obsession with the original Star Wars trilogy. Loved 'em. One of my very first memories in life is seeing Return of the Jedi with my much older cousin in theaters. The scenes in Jabba's lair and the stuff with the Sarlacc terrified kiddie me. But it was still awesome. Ditto for the first two SW movies. And I may have loved 2 out of the 3 prequels even more than the original trilogy (even I'll admit Phantom Menace was pretty bad). To be honest, I wasn't really into SW when the Phantom Menace came out. I had "outgrown" Star Wars.....or so I thought. But I did skip that one in theaters. Blatant cash grab.....Jar Jar Binks backlash....yada yada yada. I did end up seeing it some time later on video. It lived down to my expectations. But at some point I got really into the original trilogy again. I remember being wicked hyped for Attack of the Clones, which I saw like a record setting four times in theaters, and then shattered that record a few years later when I went to see Revenge of the Sith no fewer than 6 times in the theater. I saw it so many times that it became a running gag at work. Then I spent years writing my patented long-winded diatribes trying to convince the haters how Episodes II & III were actually good movies. I'd even argue that Hayden Christensen's acting worked for his character. Anyway, Revenge of the Sith is my favorite of all the Star Wars films, and a Top 5-10 movie of all time. Five movies, and nearly 30 years had all been building to that one epic film. The scene where Anakin finally goes full heel and Order 66 is executed is one of my favorite in cinematic history. Goosebumps, man. The rise of Palpatine....Anakin's slow burn heel turn.....love that stuff. I still rewatch the original 6 Star Wars movies every year or two. OK, well I usually skip Phantom Menace, but I still regularly come back to the other five. What bumps Star Wars down a notch from the #1 spot it occupied for like 32 years is the fact that I hated The Force Awakens. I wasn't real keen on the idea of a new Star Wars trilogy to begin with. The original story had been wrapped up perfectly. I had no desire to see another Star Wars reboot in theaters. Eventually curiosity got the better of me. I wish it hadn't. The Force Awakens has to be one of the laziest movies and most blatant cash grabs ever created. There's paying homage for a cheap pop, which I thought the prequels (and Rocky Balboa) excelled at, and then there's just straight up plagiarism. The Force Awakens was basically a hack remake of A New Hope with new characters. Hated it. Haven't bothered to watch any of the other new Star Wars movies, and I probably never will. Judging by the reaction to The Last Jedi from, y'know, actual Star Wars fans I am perfectly fine with that decision. I'm generally not a big superhero guy but I got into the Dark Knight trilogy. The first one was alright. Nothing earth shattering. But decent enough. The one with the Joker ruled, and the one after that with Bane was nearly just as good. I'll have to revisit them one of these days. Raimi's Spider Man trilogy likely would have cracked my Top 10 as well. Might as well drop a Harry Potter storytime while I'm here. Maybe Wife Emperor and Big Pete will appreciate this one. I was not the target age for Harry Potter but I did get into the books relatively late in life. A lot of my girl friends circa 2005-2006 were HP fanatics (don't recall any of my guy friends being into Potter). I was a dumb HP dismisser. "That's stupid kids stuff!" I'd say/think, rolling my eyes in the process .....right before going to see Revenge of the Sith in theaters for the 6th time that month  Plus, like 🤯 , my default setting was "anything that popular has to suck." Anyway, when I was unemployed and bored for a while in 2006 due to my workplace going out of business I decided to give the first HP book a try. It started out silly, but fun, and I soon got hooked. You wouldn't think a Harry Potter book could induce paranoia but by the 3rd or 4th one I went all Fox Mulder when it came to trusting no one. "THAT's the villain!" No, THAT's the villain!" I'd think whenever a new character was introduced. Anyway, I burned through the first six books in a few weeks time. A month, tops. Reading Harry Potter books was basically all I did that month. When that was finished I watched all the HP movies that had already been released. The only person I knew who was more hyped than I was for the 7th HP book was my dad  who I soon found out had been a closet HP fan. I didn't wait in line overnight. That would be madness. But I did get it the first or second day it was out. Then I stayed offline and did my best to avoid the outside world until I finished it to avoid spoilers. It didn't take long. I burned through that bad boy in a few days. I also saw the final four HP movies opening week in theaters. I liked how the HP books got progressively darker. The greatest of JK Rowling's many attributes was knowing her audience. She got her core audience hooked with a well-told, relatively lighthearted story when they were children. Then each subsequent book got darker as her target audience grew up from children to angsty teenagers/20somethings. 'Twas a real stroke of genius on her part. Anyway, the Potter series would have been mid-low Top 10 had I participated. HP books > HP movies. Snape is obviously the best HP character while Luna Lovegood is my undoubtedly personal favorite.

Bored. Might as well write about the rest of the Top 15. I'm indifferent to the Die Hard franchise. They're basically the "THAT song" of movies. I know I've seen the first three, and maybe the fourth, but I couldn't tell you anything about them other than the scene when Bruce first meets Zeus. Sacrilege, I know. Terminator 1 is good. Terminator 2 rules. Never saw any of the others. Probably would have made my Top 10 on the strength of the first two. I hated Jay and Silence Bob Strike Back with a passion. A few of others seem vaguely familiar, but I'm not 100% sure I've seen them, and if I have they didn't make much of an impact. Clerks: The Animated Series ruled and should have had a longer run though. The only thing more boring than the Lord of the Rings movies is the LOTR books. And I like fantasy-type stuff! Stay far, far away 🤯 & UT. I'm meh on Indiana Jones. The 1st & 3rd were fun flicks but nothing amazing. The 2nd was bad. The 4th was awful. They made a Back To The Future II & III? This is news to me. I dug the first one though. I have never watched a Bond movie from start to finish. I guess this is where I turn in my Anglophile card..... I think I watched the original Scream once and thought it was stupid. Blair Witch Project rules though. You haters don't know what you're talking about. I've never seen Toy Story (gasp!) or any of the Avengers and Bourne movies. Ness has nothing on me.

I have always subscribed to the Bud Bundy Theory of Brain Capacity which posits that a brain can only store so much information. If you overload it with info stuff is bound to leak out. Well, I've got a lot of useless information stored up there. It is possible that I once knew Back To The Future II & III existed but it has since leaked out. Perhaps when I had to remember all those Harry Potter characters? Yes, that sounds right. I also had a concussion once upon a time, which comes in very handy as my other go-to excuse in these type of situations.

I could understand three (kind of , but not really) but part two is a pretty iconic movie that is constantly referenced. Especially in this day and age where the "future" has taken place. It's like not know Rock and Austin wrestled two more matches after WM15.

I found Blair Witch Project to be the most overhyped piece of shit I can remember, a couple barely actors with kinda direction half-assing improv in the woods with little in the way of intrigue or frights, it also spawned one of the most stagnant eras of horror ever. Had it come in the middle of the found footage craze, I think it'd have disappeared into obscurity. Book of Shadows sucked, and even that managed to be better. It was revolutionary for it's viral marketing, and that's about it.

10. View Askewniverse - Or Jay & Silent Bob movies as I called them. I discovered the series in 2006 and I was at just the right age to appreciate them. Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back was something of a deep-cut of the buddy comedy genre that I could never bring myself to watching. For whatever reason, the 100th viewing of Wayne's World just seemed more appealing. Then one night I was bored in Sydney, made use of some 'all you can watch' movie special from the front desk and watched Clerks 2. I instantly became a fan and now whenever I think of senior year of high school or university, I just remember pouring through assessment while a Kevin Smith movie plays in the background. I was also pretty fortunate because Clerks 2 holds up the least while the original does a great job of capturing it's generation and what being in your 20s is like. I haven't watched these movies ever since Zack & Miri really bummed me out but if Smith made a Clerks 3 (or rather if Randall decided he'd like to appear in Clerks 3) I'd watch it in theatres no doubt.
9. Aliens - Classic, so much so other 'similar' movies like Independance Day and Life received 'residual' interest. Now, the series has never been able to live up to the first two, but that doesn't mean I'm having a bad time watching an Alien inseminate a Predator and seeing Lance Henrikson pop up for a role. The only reason this didn't place any higher is because I've yet to see Aliens Convenant so I can't consider myself a true fan. I heard it sucked but Danny McBride's in it so it can't be too terrible.
8. Star Wars - It set the rules for what a franchise should be. High concept cinema released around the holiday season, featuring as many marketable products as possible to sap billions and billions of dollars out of us silly consumers. Hey, if a Star Wars movie comes out, it's at least got my attention. I'm at least interested to hear it's impact on the general zeitgeist and eventually have a lot of fun with the movies. Except for Rogue One which was the most miserable fan-fic I've ever seen. These days my favourite thing about Star Wars is the Mr. Plinkett reviews. I've seen them more than the actual films and I always find myself going back to them. As far as my favourite in the franchise, it'd have to be a New Hope. I know Empire gets all the love, but I only saw that once as a kid and it bored me. A New Hope I've seen a handful of times and is just a charming adventure movie with relatable characters and fun set-pieces. I didn't sure Bake's love for Ep. 3, but of all three prequel movies, it was by far my favourite and actually got me to buy Knights of the Old Republic for the OG X Box.
7. Jurassic Park - One of the first movies I ever saw in theatres was the original and it scared the bejesus out of me. Like Aliens, the JP movies are by no means consistent, but I enjoy the movies and love nothing more than the low-key horror elements. Nothing gets me more interested in a movie then when everything goes quiet, and you know a dino is nearby as the protaganist slowly makes their way through the open bush. Then out of nowhere out comes a Velociraptor and it's on! It happens in virtually every movie and I get so drawn in.
6. Batman - Yep, Batman in general. It's cool now to snub your nose at the Burton films but when I was younger they were the coolest movies which spun-off to the coolest cartoon which then spun-off to the coolest animated movies. The Nolan movies are great, even Rises, but I'm always curious to see what's happening in Gotham and the series is bigger than those movies. As an aside, I was also down on Batman Begins. I thought it was OK but was disappointed with the third act, particularly with how they discarded Scarecrow. On recent rewatches, I think it's a really tight movie and dig the style it has going. I'm also less offended by the Scarecrow stuff given he becomes a recurring villain.
4. Spiderman - Everybody raves on about the X-Men cartoon growing up, but it was always the Spiderman series that appealed most to me. One character dealing with villains in the seediest city on the planet while also balancing relationships, going to school and having to think up clever quips. When the original Raimi movie came out, it was such a great return to form for the big budget comic book genre and while it's cheesy as hell looking back on that movie, I enjoy the simplicity of it all. Maguire was the perfect Parker, Dunst played the girl next door crush to a tea and it doesn't hurt to have DaFoe in your movie. The second movie was even better and the third while a wreck, was one of those fun wrecks that's worth going back to. I thought the original Garfield movie was great and I enjoyed the recent Holland movie, albeit I was disappointed there was so much Avengers talk jam-packed into the movie. It's a shame that there's never going to be another movie in the franchise. Thanos is like social media, he ruined everything and now the only hero I have left is Ronda Rousey.
3. Lord of the Rings - Just the original trilogy, I didn't go and check out the Hobbit after they tried to make it into Lord of the Rings 2. The Hobbit was never designed to be that, it needed to be more like a Jim Henson movie but that's an aside. Lord of the Rings was a real time and place situation. It'd be years since high fantasy had been in vogue and it seemed like a project of this magnitude was doomed to fail. Yet, somehow it didn't suck? Granted these movies have some really dumb moments and the editing at times (particularly the first) can detract from the action, but there's so many great set pieces through out and great characters it's hard not to be invested. Like the HP series, I wasn't that into the first Lord of the Rings, but the second was far more accessible. I think the second book made for a much easier film to adapt since it could focus more on each individual character and there was more happening instead of it being just a road movie.
