No Bet Meaning yes or I agree. A: "So I'll meet you and then we'll hit the party." B: "Bet." ^ is the way he uses it. I enjoy slang and am one of the laziest practitioners of English that you would encounter, but the push towards making Ebonics normal English is strange. Slang is meant to simplify language and the evolution of language generally simplifies it making it more accessible and understandable, but terms like "I is" and "I ain't doin" actually make the intention of the sentence less clear and we shouldn't accept that as English. "Bet" is fine, if somewhat redundant. ion agree no cap 🧢

I thought I understood stanned, but now I'm confused again.
Is it a misspelling of stand, or a reference to that Eminem song?

"Simping" is the new slang that makes me feel old. Anyone know what it means? It means a guy that is overly desperate for women. The young people today are awful. Truly awful.

Are you even allowed to do that gesture anymore?
This movie made me feel old, one of the all-time coming of age movies.

No idea what that movie is. I've only ever seen that gesture used ironically.
Does anybody wink anymore? My dad does it all the time when he cracks a dad joke, but he's the only person I see winking. Now it has a stigma as only something creeps do so it has been phased out.

They both just held their whole palm up.

I thought stan came from a combination of the words stalker and fan. Like, I'm such a huge fan I'm a stalker, but the stalker part is meant ironically

Yeah, it's basically another word for "incel", or I suppose at least the derogatory nature of it has the same intention. This new generation sucks and what's worse is that some of my family lumps me together with them. My aunt a few months ago: "I just don't understand your generation; always needing safe spaces and something to cry about!" her Gen-X self says to me while ironically watching CNN. Bitch, I'm barely a millenial, let alone Gen Z; I wasn't born with a silver iPhone up my ass. Now I AM offended!

Wait, what... We can't wink or give the OK hand signal anymore?! Why!?!? I *think* it's associated with the alt-right/white supremacy... something that clashes with the left. Not sure why or what happened but I'm just guessing.

Not sure why or what happened but I'm just guessing. It has different meanings around the world, however... Its something to do about a frog from kekistan or some stupid young person shit. " Because America, that's why! " its become a real thing, adopted by the alt-right, upside down its a symbol of white power. It's also a fun game popularised by Malcolm in the middle.

The OK symbol was never a white supremacist symbol, occasionally /pol/ pretends something is racist to see if the apologists will cancel it... They invariably do. It is ironic that the phrase "it is okay to be white" is racist though... I mean when you really think about it.

I faintly remember the Dudley Boyz appearing on an episode of MITM for some reason? Maybe I'm confusing it with another show? Who knows. I am 100% convinced however that there had to have been a mark somewhere in that production crew/writing team. Bret Hart footage + They Might Be Giants theme song? It practically screams "I'm a 30-something wrestling fan!" from the rooftops.

Seinfield.
I hated it as a kid. Even as a 20 something, it really was a show about nothing. Now in my late 30s, I understand it.

Got a new one I'll have to get checked out to add to my long long list of physical and mental maladies: for some time now, every now and then, the ring finger/pinkie side of my right hand just kind of goes numb at random, not like, loses all sensation, but more just kind of the sensation you get when you lay on your hand and it falls asleep.

It definitely popularized the game where you try to get someone to look at you doing that sign below your waist, and get to punch them if they do. It's a game that literally continues to this day. And it was a good ass show in general, one of the best 2000's sitcoms, in the vein of Married with Children and Rosanne.

I've told him several times that the children of today link it to white power, he thinks that's even more reason to do it.

Emperor this has to be some sort of joke right? Are they actual slang terms? Were there any there that you hadn't heard before? Heard of lush, butty, mint. "Laying it on" is familiar to me, but not "laying it on factor 50". Pied, peng sort, melt, dead ting...Nope. Butty is an interesting case. Depending on where you are in England, you have a different slang word for a sandwich. Butty, bap, roll, sarnie...I'm sure there are others.

What's with this MITM shade?
Sure on the surface it may seem like a low brow white trash show with annoying characters, but if you give it time you'll see it's well written character driven show with some really good episodes.
Also think it strikes the right balance of highlighting character flaws without dunking on them the entire time.

I absolutely love Malcolm in the Middle personally, I just couldn't help but roll with 🤯's joke there. I honestly want to start watching it again now as I type this out. FOX definitely had some quality shows back in the 90's/2000's.
