What signs have you gotten as you age and you’ve realised “oh yeah right..I’m older now”, small or large?
I now have co-workers that are roughly a decade younger than me, and I’ve made one or two references then realised they have no idea what I’m talking about. I was talking about books and mentioned the Fight Club Movie to explain who Chuck Palahnuik was to a co-worker and her response was “I think if I’ve seen it, Kevin James is in it right?”(She was thinking of Here Comes The Boom”) .
I also made a joke referring to Ms Jackson by OutKast to my youngest brother, my friends got it, he didn’t..then realised he wasn’t even born when the song came out. 🤦🏻♀️
Also people use to tell me they watched wrestling back in the day, and tell me about Rock,Austin etc. Someone had similar sentiment but they were talking about the old days of John Cena, DX. Old days? Then I realise yeah..that was 13 years ago.
Physical signs I used to eat a heap of junk and not see the effects, that definitely changed in recent years. I get told I look a younger than my age so that’s a bonus. Though I have a friend that’s turning 32 this year and he looks 18 at best. I keep telling him to hit up anti-aging cream agencies but I haven’t seen him on any infomercials yet

29 years and 364 days: drink whatever I want all night and possibly not even feel hungover the next day.
30 years: if I have more than 3 drinks I’m hungover for two days.

What’s crazy is 29 hit me harder then 30.
My biggest thing was just realized not too long ago and it’s my lost of love for wrestling. It finally hit me.
Also, drinking is either a hassle now or when I drink, I get wrecked. I haven’t drank in awhile but I have my younger coworkers dying to get wrecked with me. They want to unleash thekid, KooKooKid, KofiFan, but like Justin Timberlake and TI said....
.... the old me is dead and gone, dead and gone.
Also, I start my mornings on the toilet reading the news! Reading the fucking news!

I have bad news for many of you about your 40's...
The good news is as you get older you care less so it evens out somewhat.

29 years and 364 days: drink whatever I want all night and possibly not even feel hungover the next day. I'm currently 29 years and something like 330 days old. My time is coming. But it's not a big deal, because I stopped drinking excessively and basically stopped partying/clubbing a long time ago. I became old at 22. I still like a trip to the pub but late nights out are behind me and have been for a while. College/university students look like babies, while they looked like adults when I was that age.

For me, other than seeing my hairline crawl ever so further up my forehead every morning in the mirror when I brush my teeth, its seeing old houses or churches or schools I worked on. It's something to realize how long I've been building shit around here, I often drive by structures that I built or worked on in 2001, 2002, 2003 and all those memories that go with every job and how fucking long ago that was. To see those jobs now really sinks it in how long ago that was and how long I've been doing this shit.
We did a job a few weeks ago right across the street from a massive house I built a decade ago(still looks like it was built yesterday) board by board, nail by nail. I still have and use the hickory handle hammer that I used to nail the bottom plate of every single raftor on the house. It's like Clint Eastwood said in Pale Rider, there just ain't nothing like a good piece of hickory.

I'm 35, if I keep my hair short to hide the greys and shave daily, I can look 25.
But, I'll tell stories, then remember they happened over 15 years ago and make references to things that most people have forgotten about.
My back doesn't hurt, but it doesn't feel great either. Nor my left shoulder. And sometimes my knees and feet click. And I've slowly gone blind since I was 26.

The older I get, the more I talk to myself, and the less I care about being heard. The people in my team who are older than me talk to themselves even more frequently, and even louder, while the younger people do not.

Biggest change is not necessarily the physical changes, but like @ironmaide mentioned, simply not caring about what others think anymore. I'm not quite in my 40s yet (37) but it's getting there. I'm married, have a 14 month old. I don't care what I look like or what I'm wearing when I go out in public anymore.
I stopped playing sports a few months after my son was born, so I've seen my physical health deteriorate a bit. Running around with him and his endless energy? Ha, I'm so out of shape.

I'm nearly 42 and probably in the best shape I have been in maybe ever. My kids keep me young... Bu I do have less patience than I did when I was younger.... I also don't find the need to be around people, I am content to be with my famy or on my own, I enjoy good company but I don't need it for the sake of it. That wasn't the case before, I sort of thought I was missing out. I never drink so I can't comment on the effects of alcohol but can speak to the late nights. In my early 20s ifi had too little sleep I would feel groggy for an hour or two when I woke. Early 30s that feeling would last until lunch Now in my 40s it doesn't go all day I don't think I look so old except for the fact my beard is really Gray. I had a random lady come up to my family in the park to ask if we were a Christian family, she guessed I was early 30s and said I looked like a worship leader

Between 25-33 (now), I'm 45 pounds heavier than I ever was before that. X-Mas of 25 I put on 5 pounds, and unlike before, it never shed back off, and my weight's been creeping steadily up as my metabolism has slowed.
Then the big ones, pretty much my whole life I've had troubles with my right leg, my physical issues has it slightly offset from the left (about 1.5 inches), and this has evidently worn my hip over time...because now it's starting a habit of slipping. Tweaking it just slightly in the wrong direction can cause anything from extreme discomfort to pain. Not that long ago when changing a bottle on the water cooler, I felt I'd pulled a groin muscle, and dropped to the ground; but I quickly realized it was the entire fucking leg in agony, which is pretty much the exact symptoms of a dislocated hip. Since my hip wasn't dislocated, I can only assume it's starting to slip out and right back in.
Plus, while my right leg was always an issue, my left leg never was. Within the last 2 years though, one day, I woke up, went to stretch, and the left leg filled with a level of pain even with all my issues is pretty rare. Turns out I've developed arthritis in both of my knees, and the left for some reason flares up pretty badly when I sleep. I know exactly what caused the problems, because of my back issues, I've had a lifelong habit of sitting on the ground, often on my legs in various fashions, turns out 30 years of that isn't good for the joints.
The least of the indicators, started finding some white hairs in my beard.

I'm 44 and everything is dark. My night vision is shot. Driving I can see the road with no problem. If I look away from the headlights its dark. I mean really dark. If you are going to walk at night don't wear all black because I just might run you over. I still have 20/20 vision during the day or in light.

A baseball player younger than me (not by much) has begun, middled, and finished his career.
Professional sports players younger than me have already had fulfilling careers and retired.
Holy shit, I'm old.
Otherwise I'm really lucky in that physically I feel about the same. I've never raged hard so while I drink a little less than I used to, I always made sure I never drank enough to get super hung over. Switched workouts from primarily weight training to a lot of yoga with powerlifting on the side, so while my absolute strength is probably down I don't get that 'bent over wrong to pick up a pen and now I'm hurting for three days' feeling.

That wasn't the case before, I sort of thought I was missing out. Same. For some time, in my early 20s there was a FOMO feeling, then as I got older, I learnt solitude can be a great thing some days.

Mac Miller dying was a scary moment for me (as well as obviously being very sad) as it was the first time someone who I'd followed the entire career of passed away, and younger than I am.
Sons of footballers I remember watching breaking into first teams now is also a worrying sign.

I’m 33 (it’s wild to think that I was only about 16 I think when I first joined the original PW), and I get much more tired earlier than I used to when I was younger. Back then I could stay up late and have no issues, but nowadays around 9pm I’m falling asleep, sometimes even earlier than that. I joke to myself that you know you’re getting old because when you wake up in the morning and you think to yourself, “I can’t wait to go to bed tonight”.

Every now and again us Bitches go bowling. When I made the reservation the guy asked me if we wanted 5 pin or 10 pin. I prefer 10 pin but had to pick 5 pin because half of us can't handle the 10 pin bowling balls due to back injuries, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, etc...
aka we old!!!

Thats hilarious iron maiden,do you put little bowling shoed on the bottom of your walking frames? I also think that I am much more of an asshole as I get older and I am not sure if it is: A. I'm generally a worse person B. I'm not more of an asshole but just don't hide it as well C. I'm just really tired I'm leaning towards all of the above. Is anyone else here a workaholic? Any tips on how to find balance?

iNCY worst part is at the end of an hour we were all complaining about our wrists, back and shoulders. We were supposed to bowl for 2 hours and decided to go to a pub instead to commiserate. Can't help you with the work/life balance thing. Trying to have both is killing me. It took me a year and a burnout to take a week off and I still ended up working every day from my phone and the computer at the hotel. Usually my life takes a back seat to my work until I burn out. It gets better for a few months then rinse, lather repeat. It's worse now that I don't have a child or significant other at home.

I am a workaholic. I think I get it from my parents since they came from Montenegro where they physically built their home with their bare hands. Then they came to America and have been full time since day 1. I work 50+ hours a week and that’s after quitting my second job a few months ago. As for your question iNCY, I feel it too and I think it’s C. Being tired constantly is such a waste of life and I think it makes you an angrier and crankier person.

Going to more funerals than weddings Or going to 2nd and 3rd weddings. (They never learn) Or your kids, nieces/nephews weddings. I hate weddings and there must be a special place in hell for middle aged people who organise extravagant weddings for their second or third marriages. On the getting older side, my eldest daughter just started primary school and I am not he oldest looking non-grandparent there. If my beard is long it goes Santa levels.of white and I could pass for her grandparent. :ugh:
